@nattlecakes It is quite normal for a cat to eat the afterbirth. Besides being a natural instinct to clean up after the birth so not to attract predators, the placenta is high in iron.
@nattlecakes most animals eat the placenta, consider the mother is tired from birthing and can'ty exactly go hunting for a meal and the babies will depend on her milk.
While it is taboo for humans if we were a primitive civilization without hospitals or food infrastructure you can bet humans would be doing it too.
Although we'd still be verbally kicking Tom Cruise's ass for getting some.

@girl112791 awww it will be fine, your love for your cat will overcome and you will just care about being there for her and helping her if she needs it! just make sure everything is safe and clean and you know what to look out for, it'll all be over within a few hours and she will do most of the cleaning herself!

I had a cat give birth in my bedroom closet when I was about 16. Shewent into labor in the middle of the night and was freaking out until i started petting her. lol she gave birth at about 2 am on Mother's day.
my cat did the exact thing me and my mom were watching her while she gave birth infront of the kitchen and when the baby was crying it was a girl lin our cat went up to me and my mom rubbing against are legs meowing and looking at the babie then at us she almost had them both on the bed it was 1 boy and 1 girl the girl was older
people shouldnt handle a cat and her kittens untill they are about 2 weeks old. unless the mother is really haveing trouble giving birth to them. and u should have really clean and disinfected hands.
I do TNR (trap, neuter, return) of feral cats. I have 11 cats inside (10 tame), and a feral colony of 10. I also TNR'ed a colony I feed down by the pier, near my job. Kittens are adorable and the miracle of birth is a wondrous thing. However, there are too many unwanted companion animals. Everybody should spay/neuter their animals. It's not about one person's enjoyment of the birth process. It's about the bigger picture.
@rrrina Responsible breeders are not the ones who contribute to pet overpopulation. Its those who just want to have a litter to witness the miracle of birth, or because they want their cat/dog to feel fulfilled, or because they just don't bother to S/N their mixed breed cat/dog and allow it to become pregnant that are the problem. Responsible breeders for one reason only... for the betterment of their chosen breed.
@jacdobe, in this day and age, with animals dying in shelters on a daily basis because of overpopulation, there is no such thing as responsible breeding. For every animal you breed or buy, instead of adopt, one dies at a shelter. There should be a moratorium on ALL breeding until the stray and unwanted animal population is under control. Also, liking only certain breeds is like being a racist. No one (people or other animals) can help what breed or race they are born as. All deserve love
Go do a survey of an animal shelter and you will see the vast majority of animals being euthanized are MIXED BREED animals. Reputable breeders aren't the ones who are creating those mixed breeds. Reputable breeders know where every one of their kittens/puppies are, and they know exactly which ones are being bred because not only do they keep in contact with them all, they also don't sell their animals before they are spayed/neutered.
@jacdobe, you're not seeing the big picture. First of all, many animals in shelters are purebreds. But that's not even the point. If people would adopt shelter animals instead of buying or breeding, THEY WOULDN'T BE KILLING THEM. People have to stop being so anthropocentric and selfish. Yes, sometimes I feel like I was dropped down onto this planet full of people who don't have a shred of compassion or respect for sentient life.
Are you willing to stop all US citizens from having babies until they adopt out all the available children or place all the foster children into good, loving homes? There are always going to be children needing homes. There will always be pets needing homes. It's the way of the world and you could stop all the breeding in the world (human and animals) and there would still be children, dogs, cats, birds needing homes. I think it is *you* who is not seeing the big picture.
@jacdobe, one injustice does not excuse another. The way I see it, we have to become less selfish, as a species, and more concerned about needy children, needy animals, and all life on this planet. The world does not revolve around US and our selfish desires to own designer dogs.

And before you say that I am selfish, of my 10 pets, 6 are rescued/rehomed. Only 4 were bought, and those from reputable sources. Additionally, I have been involved in rescue work (foster home) for over 15 years. Of the 6 dogs and cats, only one is intact.

unless your cat is really needy of help then u shouldnt do anything because she takes care of everything. Its best if u wait at least a week or 2 to start handling the kittens because if u put to much of your sent on the kitts really early on, the mother might reject them. and thats really bad. then ud have to bottle feed them and find the right formula and sometimes its a little hard to get them to latch onto the bottle. but what ever u decide is really up to u.
Oh my god, i miss my cat.. same story, she wants me to be with her when she delivers her kittens, she used to get me from my bed and bring me to her couch and continues her labour... huhuhu i miss her so much.. my neighbor dump her to a place where i dont know.. curse them!!!
omg thats horable. how could anyone do that. if u have proof of what u say u can sue but thats not going to get ur cat back. but at least the person will pay in some way for what he\she did. i have a cat who i think is prego and i dont know much about cats pregnancies since its the 1st cat i have. she was a stray and i took her in and care for her and so on. i just hope she as a good labor when the time comes cuz im pretty sure hes prego. anyway take it easy.

Hello dkar i am a big fan of animals and a month before my broz birthday my cat ( shes only one year old) was pregant and on my broz birthday at ten o clock at night 23 april 6 kittens were born. 1 dyed sold 4 kept one and called her splodge. then on 7 september she was pregant again and the first one got stuck so we took her up the vets. The vets did a operation and all the kittens were dead because the first kitten was stuck for to long. there were seven kittens altogher. i was in tears thanks

i always check on her when i wake up(7am) and the one morning i was gone she had them!
my sister woke up at 12 and checked on her and there was 4 healthy kittens!
she didn't show any of the simtons
so proud of my cat, did it on her own!!!

haha XD my cat never took care of her babies, her sister took care of hers and her own. my cat (the bad mom) just gave birth this morning, more should be on the way since she only birthed 1. but the other sister of her ran away months and months ago, so im worried lol.

What an amazing experience--your kitty and you did a fantastic job. My cat acted like she is going into labor today, so I am trying to learn what it is like. this really helped. Thank you so much for filming this beautiful and educational experience.

my cat had babies in the beginning of winter and there were 9!!!!!!! but, for some reason she ate them all within one month, but she had been fed regularly. anyway, she is pregnant AGAIN!

Thank you very much for sharing this video. My cat just had her very first liter, unfortunately 3 of the kitties where still born :( this video really helped me prepare and understand what to do. My cat dolce allowed me to help her out and touch her. As silly as this sounds , i feel that my dolce and i are a lot closer .

It's really good that she had you, my cat gave birth under my bed, only two made it. I'm glad that she delivered so well, you're very fortunate. Beautiful litter though, such lovely kittens. :)

I had a cat give birth in my bedroom closet when I was about 16. Shewent into labor in the middle of the night and was freaking out until i started petting her. lol she gave birth at about 2 am on Mother's day.

my cat did the exact thing me and my mom were watching her while she gave birth infront of the kitchen and when the baby was crying it was a girl lin our cat went up to me and my mom rubbing against are legs meowing and looking at the babie then at us she almost had them both on the bed it was 1 boy and 1 girl the girl was older

people shouldnt handle a cat and her kittens untill they are about 2 weeks old. unless the mother is really haveing trouble giving birth to them. and u should have really clean and disinfected hands.

I do TNR (trap, neuter, return) of feral cats. I have 11 cats inside (10 tame), and a feral colony of 10. I also TNR'ed a colony I feed down by the pier, near my job. Kittens are adorable and the miracle of birth is a wondrous thing. However, there are too many unwanted companion animals. Everybody should spay/neuter their animals. It's not about one person's enjoyment of the birth process. It's about the bigger picture.

@rrrina Responsible breeders are not the ones who contribute to pet overpopulation. Its those who just want to have a litter to witness the miracle of birth, or because they want their cat/dog to feel fulfilled, or because they just don't bother to S/N their mixed breed cat/dog and allow it to become pregnant that are the problem. Responsible breeders for one reason only... for the betterment of their chosen breed.

@jacdobe, in this day and age, with animals dying in shelters on a daily basis because of overpopulation, there is no such thing as responsible breeding. For every animal you breed or buy, instead of adopt, one dies at a shelter. There should be a moratorium on ALL breeding until the stray and unwanted animal population is under control. Also, liking only certain breeds is like being a racist. No one (people or other animals) can help what breed or race they are born as. All deserve love

Go do a survey of an animal shelter and you will see the vast majority of animals being euthanized are MIXED BREED animals. Reputable breeders aren't the ones who are creating those mixed breeds. Reputable breeders know where every one of their kittens/puppies are, and they know exactly which ones are being bred because not only do they keep in contact with them all, they also don't sell their animals before they are spayed/neutered.

@jacdobe, you're not seeing the big picture. First of all, many animals in shelters are purebreds. But that's not even the point. If people would adopt shelter animals instead of buying or breeding, THEY WOULDN'T BE KILLING THEM. People have to stop being so anthropocentric and selfish. Yes, sometimes I feel like I was dropped down onto this planet full of people who don't have a shred of compassion or respect for sentient life.

Are you willing to stop all US citizens from having babies until they adopt out all the available children or place all the foster children into good, loving homes? There are always going to be children needing homes. There will always be pets needing homes. It's the way of the world and you could stop all the breeding in the world (human and animals) and there would still be children, dogs, cats, birds needing homes. I think it is *you* who is not seeing the big picture.

That is your prerogative, but you do not have the right to force your opinions upon everyone. I will defend to the death your right to your opinion and to act in the manner that you desire, but that is your choice, not mine.
And before you say that I am selfish, of my 10 pets, 6 are rescued/rehomed. Only 4 were bought, and those from reputable sources. Additionally, I have been involved in rescue work (foster home) for over 15 years. Of the 6 dogs and cats, only one is intact.

im 13 and i think my cat is pregnant, if she is i dont think i can help her thru the birth process with vomiting. i love my cat its just that i dont have a strong stomach. btw where was the male cat at this time? the time of birth

unless your cat is really needy of help then u shouldnt do anything because she takes care of everything. Its best if u wait at least a week or 2 to start handling the kittens because if u put to much of your sent on the kitts really early on, the mother might reject them. and thats really bad. then ud have to bottle feed them and find the right formula and sometimes its a little hard to get them to latch onto the bottle. but what ever u decide is really up to u.

Oh my god, i miss my cat.. same story, she wants me to be with her when she delivers her kittens, she used to get me from my bed and bring me to her couch and continues her labour... huhuhu i miss her so much.. my neighbor dump her to a place where i dont know.. curse them!!!

omg thats horable. how could anyone do that. if u have proof of what u say u can sue but thats not going to get ur cat back. but at least the person will pay in some way for what he\she did. i have a cat who i think is prego and i dont know much about cats pregnancies since its the 1st cat i have. she was a stray and i took her in and care for her and so on. i just hope she as a good labor when the time comes cuz im pretty sure hes prego. anyway take it easy.

Thank you for the video. My cat Princess is pregnant and according to her Vet she is going to have between 4 and 6 kittens next month. I am very nervous but I am also looking forward for the born of the kittens and I hope everything will be ok.

Hello dkar i am a big fan of animals and a month before my broz birthday my cat ( shes only one year old) was pregant and on my broz birthday at ten o clock at night 23 april 6 kittens were born. 1 dyed sold 4 kept one and called her splodge. then on 7 september she was pregant again and the first one got stuck so we took her up the vets. The vets did a operation and all the kittens were dead because the first kitten was stuck for to long. there were seven kittens altogher. i was in tears thanks
