Nice version. The singe captures some of the "hair raising falsetto" of Skip James's original (qv), and the guitar is very respectful to the song as well, not turning it into a riff-slanging piece, but for the most part just supporting the vocal, and providing bridges between verses. The guitar is actually more restrained than you would think, watching the video--because the production highlights it much more than what the band is actually playing. Well it is the Trucks band.

This arrangement is very good, especially for an entire band, the vocals do make the song. I am not sure what to make of "indifferent guitar".It is not hard to imagine SJ and DT playing together. If you just plain don't like DT, well ok.

These are the most amazing musicians, second generation. Imagine growing up with the Allman Brothers Band. Derek then turns around and marries the very best new blues singer, Susan Tedeschi, Wow oh wow, Can't wait for their kids to grow up...This is a great band for someone like me who has listened to what is now classic rock all my life. Hell, you get burnt. This is music for any blues fanatic such as myself!!!

Your criticism seems to have no basis in reality - Derek has great tone, great technique, and most important plays with real SOUL. That's what music is all about. Anyone with a little talent and enough time can play fast, but the guys who's playing just reaches down inside always get my respect.

about your comment that Trucks is only an immitator and not an originator... years ago I was critical of players I labeled as "Hendrix clones" - Robin Trower, Frank Marino, SRV, ect. Fortunately, I came to my senses, and even spent many hours learning to play their music. and I now know that each was great in his own way, and really carried forward a great playing style. The same is certainly true here - I hope that he and others carry this great style for generations.
