I have a waldorf blofeld but I'm still undecided whether I should get the evolver, it's sounds awesome though...have u tried the blofeld and if so would you still recommend getting the evolver?
@superjuly i would certainly get the mopho over the evolver if you already have a blofeld... depends on what you are looking fo, but the mopho will give you all those nasty overtop fat analog sounds the blofeld wont give you... i think is an excellent partner: blofeld king of the digital world and mopho delivering nasty analog anarchy... i personally use my blofeld with a moog slim phatty, a bit more pricey than the mopho but as well a beast for bass and leads
Hi, can the Evolver desktop be controlled through an outside controller to play melodies in real time, and not just arpeggios or what it is you are playing here?
i have just bought an evolver 2nd hand, as i cant afford a tetra. i have allways like it anyway, and wanted one regardless. i will be controlling it from ableton, well, its midi notes anyway. so then i can run it thru vst fx. and then just record to audio in there too.
it is a great little synth and have enjoyed all your clips, been an influencing factor in my choice to get it.
I have to choose between Waldorf Blofeld, Alesis Micron and Evolver DSI. What do you recommend? In 2 days I'll receive the Evolver for testing, and I'll post a review. But I never touched a Blofeld or a Micron. your video make me to buy the Evolver! Nice sounds, as usual, of course! 5*
it has no arpeggiator, it has 8 channels of incredibly good sequencer, you can make whatever arpeggios you want on it! :)) AMASING MACHINE and if you have more money than you can spend don't think but get the mighty "Radikal Technologies Spectralis Synthesizer" there is no better Synthesizer-Sequencer-Sampler workstation on the market! Cheers!
Not just an arpeggiator....it's a monophonic synthesizer with step sequencer. Just goes to show what you know about music. Trolling and busting people's balls about something you know nothing about.
Anyone can hold the keys down. But programming the synth to get it to sound any good when you do it is a tad more difficult. That's the art form in this type of music.
Wow, i never comment on youtube vids but i must say yours are truly insperational. great demos of what these little monsters are capable of indeed. keep it up!

The silver keyboard is merely a MIDI controller, meaning it doesn't have it's own sounds. It just "controls" things such as the Evolver since it doesn't have it's own keyboard.
As for fatblkchicks question, it can be because of all of the modulating possibilities and things you can do, but once you learn it it does amazing things!
had en mev and sold it...didn´t like the sound at all..I thought there was similar to the original Prop VS (the mod possibilies with the sequencer were funny but!)...for space and specs, I prefer a micromodular by far
the desktop evolver can be triggered by using its internal sequencers (4 of them, can be routed all over the place)....or....it can triggered using an external keyboard as a midi controller (or the external synth's sounds can be run through the evolver and it can be used as an effector).
in this case it looks like the external keyboard is being used to set the base note, and the evolver's sequencer(s) are also causing note changes centered around the note sent by the keyboard.
I truly love the evolver. I use it in most of my tunes nowadays. Great stuf by genki!

Well I guess by your logic music sounds better if played with one's feet because it increases the difficult.
What it expresses and how the individual relates to it means nothing. You're right. :-)

77grim77,
its a Novation Xiosynth25 which is both a MIDI Controller AND a synthesizer. in this case tho, its being controlled by the Evolver.

dave smith's evolver (as it says in the title). very big bang for the buck.
bri3n 3 years ago
erhm no dude owlwink is right. its a novation remote 25 le. i have it 2. but i want something whit more then 2 octaves.
0cerpintaxt0 3 years ago
the novation is just sending midi note information to the DSI evolver. all the synthesis is taking place in the evolver.

Does the evolver only do sequencer stuff like this or can you use it for leads and stuff too?
HeyitsWenzel 3 years ago
it does beautiful leads, powerful basses, and is a very flexible f/x processor as well.
it's pretty much the most capable monosynth (for the money) ever made.

i think u need a keyboard or sequencer to play or use the evolver desktop. im not entirely sure though,

Yeah, I am also confused/am thinking of getting an evolver and need to know: Does it need an external sound source like the keyboard or what?

Hello Denktribe, thankyou for your videos. Just a quick question, how come you're using the mini kp for delays and not the KP3?

AppA 4 years ago
Partly yes. I also used built-in delay effects in Evolver.
Denkitribe 4 years ago
after seeing you use the evolver, ive decided to definately get one. the range of sounds is amazing.
sgtkilljoyttb 4 years ago
How does the Evolver actually work? Do I need a keybord/rebirt,reason or abelton to be able to play around with it?
Nice stuff as always denkitribe.
magsmagsmags 4 years ago
Evolver has a built-in step sequencer (in this video it worked as an arpeggiator). So basically, you don't need any stuff other than Evolver.
Denkitribe 4 years ago
But can you make it swing - like PETRUCCIANI on my page ?
