  • Que linda da para dançar o tempo todo com essa musica.I love The Bay City rollers.

  • just been watching gary glitter, sorry to say it but he was miles better

  • Not as good as the Gentry's original but this group were massive ijn the UK and in other countries in the 1970s!!

  • Hell.....their not even good lip -syncers. Maybe they could have used session musicians for that, too. LOL!

  • @atomic3939 You must remember, that the bay city rollers were a different line up so most of this group in the video never actually played on this single.

  • @26highstreet This is considered the "classic" line-up of the Bay City Rollers....but regardless of the line-up....they used session players in the recording studio most of the time.

  • Les has the same hair as Maude.

  • in this trousers they look like hobbits from lord of the rings :D

  • silly bastards

  • i think that Pilot are better than that... those lads are lightweight when we compare to all the other great bands of the era ...even to other pop rock acts...like a flat balloon... and their clothes are a mistake...nearly as funny as Chicory Tip ...

I don't criticise their whole carreer ...they probably made good songs here and there... but this song is so funny... and i think that good old 70s rock music as much better things to offer than this kind of vain candy pop rock...

  • They look like tards in those get ups. Saw a guy walking out of WalMart tonight dressed like them, July 2011 belive it or not. What a freak.

  • B-A-Y B-A-Y B-A-Y C-I-T-Y WITH AN R,O,DOUBLE LL ,E,R.S BAY CITY ROLLERS ARE THE BEST

  • The lead singer is called Les McKeown and the Drummer is called Derek Longmuir.

  • Love this, which I have just discovered -- please tell me, what is the name of the lead singer?? who is the drummer?

  • @maritimerme Lead singer is Leslie and the drummer is Derek.

  • What year?

  • I ruined a completely newly wallpapered bedroom with the posters, we even stuck them on the ceiling! Trousers got cut up regularly and tartan material sold out in the local shop! And to my mum's dismay I cut my hair one day, in the bathroom, so it would be like Erics!! I had a great time! xxx

  • i wish i could find good and cute guys like them :)

  • Thanks for all the grt memories guys.......you deserved so much better than you ever got . One off the most successful teams to come out of Scotland ever....for those of you who are ailing , you desrved so much more recognition from your country,

The most successful nationals of your time.

  • look at him mime nobby sang that song take me to court il prove u wrong

  • @M1SSMAGIC Yeah, he's miming but he's miming to his own voice. The Nobby Clark version has a completely different arrangement from this one.

  • think ppl he didnt record that song was nobby i know i was in I.oM when on top of the pops was gordon clarke that was singng it

  • @M1SSMAGIC Both Nobby AND Leslie recorded this song... I have BOTH versions. Nobby recorded his in 1971 and Leslie in 1974.

  • memories !! loved these !!

  • oh a bunch of white sausages....That are old and shribled now...

  • this is from before my time but i enjoy the originality in the 50's-70's. looking at this helps me understand my parents more. if i have children someday, maybe they'll look back at the 80's and 90's to enjoy the great music of my generation :).

  • why would i want to do that. now you are a gay man, thats ok, but i am not. so no thank you. made me laugh though

  • @rus524 oh i thought you were a girl cos u act like a tit

  • @SuperGeemac lol

  • Love this, one of our Mom's Rock hits done for our generation of the 70s!

  • gawd memories ..i used to have a pair of skinners (bet u dont remember them) with tartan on them....shake it shake it baby ;)

  • hey my mom bought me their outfits (sold at EATONS) man i wish i could go back to those days

  • my friend does troupe dancing to this and thats how i found out about this its a great song its makes me smile :)

  • Bloomin Brilliant :-)

Loved The Rollers and "Shang-A-Lang" was regular viewing for me all those years ago.

  • These guys were real good and visually impressive. They look and sound great...

  • OMG can it possibly get any worse than this - my ears have been violated - my eyes ruined - OMG.

  • These videos bring back great memories for me. I was crazy for Leslie. I think the music was just pure pop fun. And for those haters of them why are you watching the video. I loved BCR back then and I d o to this day.

  • Just sweet memories from junior high, around grade 7 and 8, super band,..

  • This had to be when they first started together. Dear lord look at that stage?? It looks like someone threw up on it!!! But Les, Eric, and Derek make it easier to look at (:

  • sad that so much pocket money was robbed with these talentless jocks

  • @ls268dj Overrated maybe, but unfair to say they were talentless.

  • bunch of wankers

  • children, children-play nicely !!! this was a boys band from the 70s -regardless of what they wore ,it was all a hype ( still is allover ) this is how they were manufactured, they made a lot of money which was looted by an unscrupuluos manager, and various members have not had an easy time either ,with child molestation charges, bankruptcy, feuds etc -but they gave a lot of pleasure and joy -breathing space eh ? xx

  • This is when boy bands had TALENT.

  • My mum showed me this last night!,I love it because it is good clean music unlike what all the other kids my age are listening to, wish I was born "back in the day.."

  • Plaid-clad masters of cool in high water pants.

  • no it doesnt get any worse than this , god they were very very bad .

  • @unclefesterful This from an obvious punk rock fan

  • very nice!

  • What a disgrace almost makes me puke!

  • They were 5 guys who COULD play their instruments, they sang the music that us girls wanted at the time and they should´ve made lots of money but were stitched up. Let´s hope they win their court case. Apart from that, can anyone explain to me why I fancied Derek (the drummer) all those years ago......

  • they weren't even that good looking.....stupid females!

  • it doesn't get any worse than this, except madonna perhaps

  • Scottush i mean

  • If its cottish, isnt is TARTAN.

    not plaid..

Dont Yanks use the term plaid.

  • Yes, we'd call that plaid.

  • the gentrys had a pre-Beatles look, and some nifty talent. This is a fun video to watch Scottie, but then again....these fucks are pure rubbish. worst cover ever.

  • For all the haters...."To each it's own". The music was fun, the clothes were fun... THAT'S ALL... AND you are watching the videos because????

  • I agree.I'm from Scotland. Same age group as the Rollers.I was more into Deep Purple. Sabbath etc....The Rollers had two things going for them.

    1.They could actually play instruments.

    2.They put bums on seats....enough said..enjoy!

  • This is pure WHITE rock with any black influence subtracted LOL - PRAISE GOD for the black foundation to modern music!

  • Actually it's just a talent void. Shows you what marketing can do. People will buy a turd on a stick.

This is a disgrace to The Gentrys who actually had talent and White Soul.

  • why did they a lway wear plaid in their clothing??LOL

  • well it is what they were famous for, think BCR and tartan is the first thing you remember.

That fad lasted no more than about 2/3 years though. You see earlier stuff and later stuff and they weren't in plaid then.

  • I didn't like these guys at the time but looking back I was dead wrong. These guys are dam good and they look like superstars.

  • fuck you haters, THIS WAS doo wop pop in the seventies. get lost!!

  • WHAT THE HELL IS THIS? Its a disgrace to JImmy Heart and the Gentrys who came up with this song. This is torture to my ears. Christ its the bacstreet boys for the 70's

  • WES! WES! You're gay.

  • Bell bottom capri's for men?

  • brillant my feet are taking on a life of der own yehaaaa

  • This is REAL fucking punk rock!

  • this ruined the song. The original is 100 times better.

  • in your dreams pal

  • OMG !! the revenge of the clowns !!

    Great song !!

  • lmao wow

  • Happy Birthday Eric!

  • Comment removed

  • only the jonas brothers have sold 1 per cent of the rollers sales and are fading already . rollers forever true teen stars

  • Donny Osmond & friends???Sorry the Gentry fans had to see this.

  • jonas brothers in the 70's

  • u got that backwards. a lot of punk bands likeed them sex pistols and ramones

  • I didn`t think I could hate these guys more now than I did in the 70s but I was wrong. This is embarrassing crap and their apparel, OMFG...

  • ano..ur so right ..i uesd tay grt genes bleach them get tarten sew it up the seams .white short sleeve shirt tarten trimings..monkry boots..memories

  • @Anonymousminx3 still got my wrist scarfe and my woody top

  • @Anonymousminx3 hey, im not 40 (close!) but they shill rock my world!

  • @Anonymousminx3 Hate to tell you THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL LINE UP !!!!

  • @Anonymousminx3 Hate to tell you THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL LINE UP !!! This was a hit for them in 1971!

  • @Anonymousminx3 I'm 14 and they rock for me. Say anything about that? I like all that stuff, like the Beatles, ELO, Bob Dylan, Queen, BCR...I'm a HUGE throwback.

  • Isn't tthis band called The Bay City Rollers?

  • Yes. Torpelang does have in the more info section that it was that group.

  • These guys are great. Loved them when I was 12, still do.

  • Sounds like a bubble gummed, watered down, sugar coated version of the cool, gritty original. grghuh1 sums it up good. Even back in the 70's, I though remakes of 50's-60's stuff sucked.

  • My thoughts exactly! The video of the original group is even more crazy!

  • Where can i find a video?

  • I agree. Even John Lennon had a horrendous version of Ben E. King's "Stand By Me". The only three remakes from the 1970's of 1960's music that equaled or maybe even surpassed the originals was the Carpenters' 1975 #1 version of the Marvelettes' #1 song, "Please Mr. Postman", Amii Stewart's 1979 disco #1 version of Eddie Floyd's "Knock On Wood" & Rita Coolidge's 1977 hit version of Jacke Wilson's "Your Love Is Lifing Me Higher & Higher".

  • Actually liked John Lennons version better!

  • haha geez.......people will give anything from the 70s or 80s an automatic 5 stars even if it sucks. i liked these guys when i was a young kid in the 70s, before i was old enough to know any better. but now when i watch these videos i have to be quite honest...these guys sucked

  • Just cant go with the "prancin" part, it's an automatic lameola.

  • Great !!! Souvenirs from my teen years.

  • Oh my gosh! What wonderful memories of happy times!! LOVED BCR! Haven't heard these songs in years and years but the words come back so easy!

  • Oh the memories! Haven't listened to the Rollers in years upon years...funny still remember all the words. Will always love them!

  • Happy to see a group with visions and a great sound, give me five...

    Love your videos

  • Gentry's version is better.

  • @ideveloper1 Yeah agreed, but I'd have never heard of this song if it wasn't for BCR. Did some research and discovered some excellent music, Dusty Springfield etc.

  • @ideveloper1 Your mom's version is better.......nobody does it like the Rollers!!

  • @ideveloper1 Your mom's version is better....nobody does it like the Rollers!!

  • @ideveloper1 no its not

  • what a playback..

  • Jimmy Hart?????? who??? LOL...

Back then all we cared about were these guys.

  • 60's or 70's

  • Comment removed

  • Jimmy hart sang it better

  • I used to think Les had weird looking teeth. What a weird kid I was...TEETH?

  • OMG WHO is trying to compare the Bay City Rollers to Zeppelin?

    How insane.

You cannot compare Zeppelin to The Bay City Rollers....that is just stupid as hell....but bud, whoever you are, guess what? Zeppelin is old and boring now too,,,,,,,,LOL!

  • What a crack up. Comparing BCR to Led Zeppelin especially if you listen to this song's lyric's "dancing and a prancing" and then listen to "Black dog" lol. By the way love the BCR's.

  • I love them too!

They are a blast from the past.....god love them!

  • It's a happy & naive song, very good... but... by jove.., if u go today to a typical XXI Century Public High School, dressed & singing like them, u will be lynched before 2nd period, believe me...!!

  • Sadly, so true. Is that Doc Martins on Woody's feet?

  • I think these guys would struggle to be a support act in Butlins these days. However, at the time they were popular not just for the music but for the look. Jesus, what was going on?

  • Hey I seen Shalamar in Butlins. lol

  • They had nice buns. :)

  • Sooo, which one had the nicest buns??? lol! I'm a Leslie fan myself.

  • Well, I started out liking Woody's buns and then got a glimpse of Erics! and it was game over!!!!

    soo funny!

  • i love this band.

  • TAM PATON IS A FAT FUCKIN FAGGOT.

  • Thia music holds up...the words are kind of dated though...can't imagine anyone "prancing" now! :P guitar is good though.

  • also Tam Paton the bands manager and good friend of King did jail time for child pornography after the rollers broke up.

  • Watched TV prog last year about Rollers, lead singer Les skint and buying whiskey from corner shop and asking could he pay for it at the end of the week, sad, he should,ve been minted.

  • agrred,it is a shame that this happened,I also saw the programmes on Benny Hill and Marc Bolan who died penniless.I'm sure there's more to come.

  • Biggest band in the world in the 70s, made MILLIONS of Pounds, Dollars, Yen, Zlotys, (Euros today) but the band did,nt see any of it, their manager ripped them off BIG TIME.!!!

  • what did they expect, this record was financed by Jonathan King the worlds biggest nonce

  • No, Led Zeppelin was the biggest band of the 70s!

  • I like Led Zep too, but as for biggest band of the 70s no, maybe the loudest yes, but as for record sales, money making, Bay City Rollers.

  • Well, no one remembers Bay City Rollers now anyway.

  • Ya your right, but at the time biggest in the 70s, Led Zeppelin,s claim to fame is they were the 1st super group.

  • Is a super group a band of musicians that are all talented on their merits? Just wondering.
