I'm 39 and been partially impotent for 15 years. I drank heavily for 4 of the past fridays - not any other days. Last time I drank was 11 days ago. I couldn't get erect 7 days after my last drink. Even though alcohol leaves the body after 3 days, I did get erect during the week. Do you think alcohol is the culprit of my current condition or is this mental? Is this just temporary and will I return to normal? Please let me know. Thanks.
In my early 50s. 2yrs ago began to notice weak erections/weak ejaculations. Wife said not characteristic of me. She read article abt low T, suggested I see DR. Diagnosis: low T at 171! Perscribed Androgel & wow, libido is back, feeling sexually strong (almost like in my early 20s). Additionally, sense of well-being improved: now motivated to workout, etc. But puzzled. All tests okay: pituitary MRI-ok, thyroid-ok, LH/FSH-ok, testicular scan-ok. Seems problem directly in the testis? Comments?
Hey, what do you expect from a pair of testes that are over a century old! Just kidding! All fooling aside, this is a very common scenario due to the testes not producing as much T as previously, presenting not only with libido/erectile/ejaculation issues, but also mood, drive, and a myriad of other effects. I'm delighted that the Androgel is working.
Thanks Dr.! Watched all parts of your presentation, very informative. I plan to start eating right, exercising, & controlling stress ASAP. I'm also gonna look for your book at Barnes & Nobel this weekend. Thanks again!

Thank you. I'm actually quite young, but that doesn't mean that I'm immune to some of the problems you've mentioned. I'm sure your advice will help me a lot.

Alcohol excess can play a key role as can psychological factors.
