@slacker3375, hey slacker3375, glad your enjoying the vids. I'll have a few more coming up. Haven't used the helmet cam in a while. I think the GoPro camera is much better than the Oregon Scientific that I have. If you ever come to the Bay Area, CA, let me know and we'll go riding.
Hey pb4evr, you can break during a turn on a technical decent. If it is steep, make sure that you have your seat lowered before heading down. Just go slow through the technical downhill turn and apply both brakes equally.
There is a thing called threshold breaking where your applying the breaks hard and just before locking them up. I'm sure your already trying that.
You can also modulate your breaks a little to get you through the turn. Locking up the breaks may increase your speed downhil
thanks man ur really helping me out here and giving me more confidence, im actuly enjoying climbs and i enjoy the challenge, only thing that gets annoying is the sun so im gonna go a little bit earlier, one more thing is that my bike weighs alot. its a giant rincon. its a hardtail but when i weighed it it came in at 35 pounds, the front tire with rim and rotor and everything weighed 5 pounds total the rear was 7 is that a bit to high? thanks again!
@pb4evr, you can purchase lighter weight bike parts, but they can get a bit expensive. (Titanium). The other route is to save up and purchase a lighter weight bike. Like the Santa Cruz superlite. Most bike companies make a XC bike that is around 27lbs or so. Look for a used one that is a few years old, that way you can get a good deal instead of buying a new one.
love ur vids man, i have a quick question tho, on my trails im stuck with one obstacle. braking you have made a vid before about this but my problem is when i am going back down after the climb its really steep so i need to brake, problem is there are barley any straight lines so i cant brake its always a turn or something and i cant brake as effeciently because im to paraniod of locking my brakes, so what should i do if i REALLY have to brake during a turn? thanks!
Hey man great video very informative and I loved all the tips and everything oh and I just wanted to tell you that I lost about 30 pounds about 4 or 5 months ago but then gained back 8lbs but I did lose those 8lbs about 3 weeks ago just by watching what I've been eating and how much I eat and by walking around a lot on my breaks and on my lunch at work. and I am happy to say that I have still kept the weight off and once I have my new mountain bike in a month I intend on losing more weight.
Hey dasdanarthur, that is something everyone that is gaining weight should do and you have the perfect solution,,,,,,more exercise. Most people that are gaining weight really don't know it at first as it usually happens over a few years. They only realize it when they have to buy new cloths and it's on the larger size!
I just step on my bathroom scale first thing every morning and jot the weight on my calendar. If I see I am gaining weight, I watch my eating and find time to get in more excerise like, power walking, hiking and road biking.
You're awesome! Thanks so much for this video and all your videos on Mtb that are very helpful for beginners. :-D

@funnygangink, yup, I like them and add them to trail-mix for the trails. Nuts do have more calories than an apple though...

Hey treehunter16, I have a vid on the subject of making your bike lighter. Check it out... It involves purchasing new parts though.
If your not too hard on your bike, it may be worth it as the uphill climbs are more manageable and a bit easier.
