I notice in a lot of episodes Holmes or Watson will say things like "Pray, continue" or "Pray, take a seat." I'm assuming that was just sort of like the Victorian era way of saying "Please, continue" or "Please, take a seat?"
Every time at 12:25 when Holmes looks at the Carbuncle as hes thinking of how to hide it, I keep wanting him to put it in his mouth like Watson did with the pearl in the old 1940's movies lol
@Lyrictheac at a guess he means he is physicaly unfit hence perspiring into his hatband :)
Unless of course you have a very dry,self depricating sense of humour,in which case, LMFAO ,me too, I sorta remember what training is meant to be....:)
I love how Watson's expression is a dictionary illustration for astonishment, when Holmes's expression barley changes when confronted with the gem. Got to love his calm nature
I had this on VHS. This part of this episode has to be one of the best of all. Sherlock showing off lol. They edited this. His "museum" was his desk drawer and he opens it showing objects and pics of old cases and a hypodermic setup. Why sterilize Holmes?
Does anyone else think the Blue Carbuncle looks like plastic?
Great episode!

Wouldn't it be hilarious if Holmes started acting like Smeagol and obsessing over the gem? My precious,,, Haha

How much was £1,000 in equivalent to today??
maxochic1 2 months ago
@maxochic1
Calculations average at about £80 ($125) today for £1 in 1890. So it's about £80,000 ($125,000). Quite a sum!

What did he mean when he said "he is out of training entirely"? I should know this, but I don't.

The hat deduction and the astonishment potrayed by Watson is nearly one of the best of Holmes moments.

Sherlock Holmes's method of reasoning is called the science of deduction and analysis as pointed out in the Study of Scarlet.
