I know a 50-50% chance problem. I had the same exact problems with my FarCry demo. I have the real one now since i knew how to fix this bug. It's due to the settings of the NVIDIA Control panel! Go on your desktop, right click, then click on NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL! then on there. choose the game, if it's not on there. Add it to there. Then tamper with the in-game settings. Just mainly stick with "APPLICATION CONTROLLED" settings. That is the main problem. I hope this helps anyone? :D
dudes, i had the same problem and im surprised that i fixed it because i have 2002 win. xp. all i had to do is change all video settings to low but mine didnt turn out like this when i first ran it. It was all gray and white. Now i can run the demo perfectly with the video settings changed. I hoped this solved your problem
This is only the demo problem as to my experience. I've got the same issue, but as soon i've installed the full version - i've got everythung fine and smooth, as it's supposed to be. Also don't forget to patch to latest version v.1.33
The demo is an old version of the game that doesn't support graphics cards above the nvidia FX 5 and radeon 9800 series from what I remember. There are no patches for the demo. When you buy the full version and patch it to 1.33 or 1.4 it should work normally.

I noticed that when you change all the graphics settings to 'low' the problem is partially solved but it's still barely playable. What I really want to know is does the same thing happen in the full game or just the demo? I'm considering getting the game but obviously I won't if this happens in it.
remove your device manage video driver and reinstall a standard vga also before that disable all system restore, then restart pc install video driver and reset. You can enable system restore then.
try from all low to high qualities and see if that fix it, my card shows many wierd lines with the water on medium to high quwality but not on low so.

this happend to me once on the game (not demo) and i basicly just opened my comp and cleaned its insides.then it ran perfect the rest of the time.

noob, most likely a driver messed,
