I have a non- sports injury to my bicep..i was sanding a table with an electric sander for about 2 hrs with my arm stretched out...this was christmas time...and i still cant move it without pain, ive also got a frozen shoulder because of this....my lump is more towards the back of my arm between my shoulder and elbow, my doctor is puzzled how i got this, i know i need to have an xray or MRI but i just keep putting it off hoping its gonna heal by its self...
@kingsakoil i didn't realize how common torn biceps were til i had mine .... the most common i have heard of was cranking a mower, but have a friend that pop-d his out swinging a bat .... people think that it takes great effort or heavy weights .... normally it takes just haveing a bad day .... please get it x-ray-d i have found that time is very important in what they can do , also that because of my age, they questioned if they would fix it or not
if my job was not so physical or i was alittle older they would leave me deformed and they said with re-hab i could regain 60% of my strengh .... i'm very glad i had it fixed .... i hope yours is nothing and easy to repair .... i prayed for you .... GOD BLESS
Hey man, I have the same exact problem as you, but mine didn't tear all the way. I just felt it pop, and some pain. Do you know if a partial tear can heal on it's own?
@ATRAX31 ....yes i know someone that tore theirs and worked it out .... it took alot of time and reps .... very light weights .... take your time .... your body will compensate for the weaker side .... it can give you false hope .. then more likely to tear the rest of the way or even the good side
@tmoose65 Actually this was my good arm. I've been nursing my other side. Quit training biceps for a few months to no avail. This bicep that tore, I never had any trouble with. This blows...
@tmoose65 i had almost the same problem. my biceps are very short now(rightarm) first it was very long and thick... help me out please. im affraid it will stay short so what do you think? will it be the same as before the injury? thanks
@SUBIESAMURAI07 if you had the operation to re-attach tendon, you can get it to look some what normal ( no dip in muscle) my left is completely normal except for large scar .... right has 2 small scars but muscle has a different peak than before .... at my age , ihad to push to get operation if i was older they would have not done it .... now with new medical system who knows if you can get it .... im glad i had the operation. without it, i would just have 2 dips where my bi's were

I thouth it was but wanted to make sure... No Problem. You know a gain Waight? I wiagh 130 pounds I picked up this Navy seal workout book.(Don't plan on joining but nice thouth those.)
Tore out my right outer biceps, but the Dr, could,nt put it back into my shoulder. Reattached it just below my shoulder into my upper arm bone-wonder why?? But anyway glad to see your surgeries are doing well. Could,nt tell from your video -Do you think your biceps look different now?? I keep my arms covered now.
mine was outer too .... known as the long head of the bicep .... it raps around shoulder and goes into rotor .... they can't put it back in rotor and it hold right .... the cord starts shrinking after it is torn .... plus so much leader is needed to tag it in .... my left is perfect except for big scar but right has more of a peak .... i think i am working it out though .... i have some learned wisdom for working out and getting back into it .... i'll send it tonight
thanks for the support .... i just have to slow down alittle .... i been working old school too long .... 25 years at same job .... i just can't pick up washing machines anymore .... i know how to lift .... but sometime you just want to sling it and growl .... i'm great now .. gain another inch in my bi's over original size
Wow! It must be like a freak accident with just a little bit off with how the body and then the biceps etc are at the particular time stimulated to pull. Must have been on whichever day just a bad angle. I've done preacher curls with 75lbs dumbbells and 165lbs E-Z Curl bar with no bicep problems. Even a standing curl with 100lbs dumbbells.
However! My wrists have had some difficulty. Then again, I was born with extremely loose joints. Not a good thing for joint longjevity.
my left was from 32" tv 135#..just caught it just right..right one was a front loading washing machine 350# or more..it was on a stove so i grabed on right shoulder and walked to back of truck..i knew it was more than i wanted so i tried to slide it down the wall..it made a pop and i felt the ball pull out of rotor..unloading is nothing like workout..alot of strange angles..i wentback to driving and unloading at the end of feb. ..i don't have any probs now
i had my right bicep ruptured at the elbow completely. happened at the gym as i was doing preacher curls with 35lbs and went down all the way. underwent surgery to attach the bicep tendon with the elbow joint by means of titanium anchors shot into the bone. been on a sling for 2 weeks now. 4 more weeks to go and then 6 months physiotherapy to get my right arm at the same strength as my left.
i have a friend that tore that also .. he swung a bat play-n ball and it pop-d .. mine being at the shoulder .. there is 2 cords .. a long and a short .. you can function with only one .. yours though .. has to be fixed or you have no motion .. so i really feel for you and will pray for you .. other than stretching it for 2 months, i had no therapy .. takes 1 1/2 to 2 years to get real good .. i have to get shoulder ball to work with 1 less cord to hold it ..
my friend did have alot of therapy but has made it past the bad stuff and has good strenth .. he does have a large scar .. just take it slow .. most is just time for cord to grow back .. mine was screwed to arm bone .. they can't put it back in cup .. my left was from 2004 .. it is perfect .. my arm size is finally back in the 18's but right shoulder is alittle crunchy but i know it will work out soon .. GOD is so good .. everyday
hey moose I'm 37 years old I tore mine the same as yours at work. The doc said I don't need to get it reattached because of my age but I disagree because I'm a construction worker. What do you think?I like to lift weights to.He said my arm will be just as strong without surgery which I can't believe.
if it is all the way loose then doc said i would loose 40% of my arm strenth but cut off was 50 .... it has to be re attached quick or the lead will draw up ....better get 2nd oppinion
I have a tear in my bicep too, but I don't think I tore it completely. I hope you recover nicely. I wonder if my arm muscle will completely snap like yours has.
if it tears completely .... you have to have it put back quickly or it will draw up and it can't be put back .... also age is a factor .... if i were 50 they would not fix it .... i would lose about half of my lifting ability .... people i have heard tear it anywhere from pulling lawnmower to swinging ball bat ....sometime just your time
My doctor said to try 6-12 weeks of physical therapy. Then he said that physical therapy does not work for most (I am a diabetic). He said to come back in see him if it did not improve in 12 weeks. Then he will do a surgical technique that he said is very simple and fast. It involves poking two small holes in the shoulder and shaving off some bone. I guess this is different from yours?
yes .... they drilled a hole in the top of my arm bone .... inserted the cord and put in a screw made of bone matterial .... not metal .... out of work for 8 weeks and around 4 months of light duty
Bro hope u feel better now, just quick question, did it hurt when it torn and what kind of pain where u feeling, if any...cheers.

Not much pain.... it gets very bad after surgery to put it back.... you have 2 sides in the bicip.... arm will work but will be very weak
