This episode shows that if you bully someone hard enough, the victim can come back and kill you. 9 out of 10 school shootings happen because the victim is getting bullied and people turn a blind-eye.

The dad must have thought that as long as he keeps the gun locked up nothing will go wrong but an even smarter choice would have been to buy the gun while Jimmy was in school and not tell him about it.
