There was never a Valkyrie refit. The only thing that ever changed was that rollbar they added in "Razor". The episode "Hero" offered some deceptive angles that lead to wrong assumptions in some fan made models. In the top-down shot from "Hero" people mistook the "flaps" the ship has behind it's engines for another set of two engines on the bottom. It always looked like the one here and always had 4 engines. It also has 6 forward facing launch tubes, 3 under each pod, and is about 650 m long.
She was modeled based on some captured images of Valkyrie type vessels on the net :) I guess that most of these images were captured from "The Plan", because I've not watched them yet.
@CosmosFan1 To my knowledge, the 3d models used in Hero and The Plan are exactly the same and there was no refit, it's just that you only really get a decent view of it in The Plan.
@YIIMM look up "battlestar valkyrie" on Google images. You'll see at least two official models used either in Hero or The Plan. Among the most noticeable differences is that Valkyrie Refit (The Plan) has only four engines - two on either side and two on top - while Adama's Valkyrie (Hero) has six. Also the nose of the Valkyrie Refit is a bit duck-billed, while Adama's Valkyrie's nose is rather blunt.
@CosmosFan1 All the blunt-nose, six-engined images 3d models are fan-made, using incorrect assumptions based on screenshots from Hero, which didn't give a very good impression of its proportions.
If you search for "galactica.tv valkyrie" and click the first link, you'll see images of the Valkyrie concepts the artists went through. One of them is almost identical to the final model, apart from having a rollbar and two too many engines :)
@YIIMM hmm, you appear to be right. I'm looking up the blunt-nosed Valks now and I can't seem to find on-screen references to any of its distinct features (blunt nose / six engines). That's a good website, by the way.

@MrIlovegamez
It was modeled based on valk. type battlestars seen in "The PLan". In that show, they do not have engine pods on their bottom sides :)
