@mustang633NY nothing really, i just know how the underdog in corp. world thinks, i worked for FED-EX and they were over bearing on the "we must beat UPS" slogan.. so i just figured it was that way for nissan.. and someone told me that the reason nissans are more money cuz they are all still made in japan (not sure if that's true) my 08 taco was made in mexico.. not even made in usa ? and that is how the number 1 car company in the world conducts buissness? their integrity isnt the same
@tractorkid223 according to a nissan salesman about 2 years ago the nissan trucks are made of japanese parts but assembled in the US both the US and japan normally make good stuff but ive never trusted Nissan or Kia for durability
my brother drives an 03 toyota 4runner, he bought it brand new and has never had any problems with it. meanwhile on the other hand my dad got a 04 ford explorer and its a piece of shit. so many problems. ac, 4wd not working, transmission broke, the list goes on and on. if you want a quality vehicle get a toyota
@fantana501 I'm in the same boat. My dream truck would be a 2007-2012 Toyota Tundra, but the prices are so dang high. Even the 2007's are super expensive and they're already basically 5 years old
To hell with all the other trucks! Taco is what iam riding. lol. This truck is #1 and its badass looking. Get the manual its a dream and screams like women, well am hitting it. haha
The Tacoma is actually American made. 90% of them are made in Fremont California. 10% of them are made in Mexico. And 50% of them at one point was assembled by your truely. Too bad now it's moved to San Antonio, Texas. It brings back a lot of memories and pride whenever I see a Tacoma.
My 2006 Taco now has 115,000 miles and I have not spent a nickel on anything other than routine maintenance (oil, fluids, filters, tires, plugs, brakes, etc). Except shocks, which didn't really need replacing. Double cab 4x4 TRD off road. Daily commuter and has been wheeled hard. First set of BF Goodrich Rugged Trails went to 71K! I lifted the truck this summer at 99K with Billy 5100s front and rear set at 2.5" in front w/ 2" add-a-leaf in back, BF Goodrich KM 285/75/16's. I love my TACO!
@kaos3124 Roomy enough as long as you and your date are reasonably fit. Heftier folks might be better off slapping belly flab in the back seat of an F-350 Superduty.
Brutal review. I have a 2010 Tacoma and I love it to death. But you don't have to settle like this guy says. I got exactly what I wanted color and all without any issues.
I'm saving up for my first vehicle, and I feel very compelled to get a pickup truck. Since I've always loved the Tacoma, this is my current choice, especially since I live in the generally cold, muddy, and rainy state of WA.
While I do like the feel of a big truck, I also want to balance it out with decent MPG. Rear passenger room will rarely be required. Does anyone have advice on the best model of this truck?
@IM1StealthPilot I too started out with a pickup, and still find them to be a nearly ideal blend of performance and utility. Smaller trucks in particular are particularly versatile. My first was a Dodge Dakota and I now have a Nissan Frontier. On a good day, expect no more than 20-23 mpg from any small truck with a good engine and automatic tranny. I prefer Nissan to Toyota (personal preference), but either 'little truck' equipped with four doors and the optional long bed should perform well.
@IM1StealthPilot While I like the added space of a crew cab design, you might be fine with the extended cab; it'll still offer rear doors for easier access, but will give you a good sized bed without an increased turning radius. It might also save you some cash over a crew cab.
My personal favorite design is the second generation Dodge Dakota Crew Cab; it is one of the most capable, versatile vehicles I've ever driven, and is almost perfect size-wise. It also handles better than any other pickup I've driven, and is quite powerful in V8 form.
@IM1StealthPilot I do not care for the new (post-2004) Dakotas, and the second generation is known for having transmission and front end issues, so I think you'd do well to select a Nissan or Toyota; or even Honda's slightly larger, more refined Ridgeline, which is quite a useful vehicle itself - and one that should equal or better the others in fuel economy.
i have an '08 trd sport, quite a few things i dislike, the amount of plastic in/on it, obnoxious clutch/bellhouse chirp, paint scratches way to easy, as well as all the bolts in my bed coming loose several times, and gas mileage is not that great because its geared way to low for a mid-sized truck in my opinion. decent all around.
Oh and i've had to get the whole rear suspension replaced due to the weak 3-pack/4-pack leafs getting to weak.
i love how people will buy an american car for the image not the quality. if u want a toughbeast that will last 3 years u go american. if u want a quality ride that will last forever u have to go asian
i wish i had gotten a frontier instead of my 08 taco

Tacoma rocknrolls. I am installing a 6inch Fabtech lift with 37inch Toyo M/Ts.
Tacoma is the best looking truck jacked up. There is no other truck on par with
the Tacoma except for the Toyota Tundra. Big brother little brother. Both Toyota.

The Tacoma is much better looking than any mid size US truck.
robert21256 2 years ago 19
True that!!!
Jackassbobby112 2 years ago 3
Agreed. Domestics are more concerned with full-size and 3/4 ton, where they still enjoy majority in the former and near 100% in the latter.

Tacoma sucks!! I would rather have a colorado than a tacoma!
mercman8888 3 years ago
The colorado has MUCH worse safety ratings, the taocma is also America's #1 selling Mid-Size Truck, and also is a Top Safety pick.
