They are Crusties? lol Crust wasnt a scene as such, it was people who came from the punk, squatter, rave and Traveller scenes, once it became a fashion in itself 99% of them stopped being crusties overnight, millions of dreadlocks were cut off all at once and suits were donned (well, not quite that bad).

I blame the fucking Levellers.

@dortyhoor on everyone regardless of their "musical" or "subcultural identity" having dreadlocks does not make me a crust punk and i dont need dreads to be crust punk, locks are a form of rebelling against conservatism and that pretension clean cut eurocentric aesthetic that has been imposed on people with colonization,imperialism and now more recently with globalization

It used to be worn by white Reggae orientated punks once, like 'pig youth' from Killing Joke, its amusing to see that it has taken on such a wider political connotation now, over here it is a mainstream chav hairstyle now, thats why shaving them off became a reaction against the popularisation of the style by the non Rasta faithed general publi here, as witnessed by the politeration of 'Dread beads' available in shops
