I had heard 2 versions of this b4 I heard Merle's and everybody was going...ohhh! Gareth Pearson's version is so good! He doesn't even touch Merle. Gareth thinks that playing faster is playing better and his tone sucks compared to Merle's. And NO, I can't even play the first bar of this so hold your comments (between your knees) as Jack N. would say :)
@ksaajasto I do too, but you can't really compare it to the original. Merle's version is Merle's version and no one will ever be able to play it like he does.
I tried to play this long last monday in montreal without having played it in a while. I forgot how tough it actually was. It wasn't pretty. Trying to play this song like him is like trying to win an endless boxing match with him that he always wins.This guy is the tops. I haven't heard anyone do this more elegantly than him. As if the first version isn't enough, the second is just showing off, laughing at us little girls.
