So how's this thing handle by itself compared to previous sli or crossfire setups? Would just 1 of them be recommended for wanting the highest settings and playing 100% fluid? Duke was a lil draggy on my 5870v2 setup... so wondering if this would fix that.
@izlude2 also... are you able to get full power by converting 6 pins into 8 pins (via adapter). Or do you only get 6pin rated power? (i noticed it splits the wire from the 6pin to flow into the 8th pin.)
too much work and too little time leave me with little time to shave lol but the stace has been offiicially put down. Thanks for the view and support.
Thats for the feedback we generally have had great feedback our our ID designs but i appreciate your perspective what specific thoughts do you have? Thanks for the view and support.
@ASUSIlluminati With Blue, white and black being the theme on MOST motherboards and even more cases out there It be cool to see a wider range of color accents on the cards. On most the higher end Asus cards I see only red and that military green. Thats cool if you have one of the higher end ASUS Rampage boards or a saber tooth board.
I mean not to make the cards look like a clown, but a hint of white there,or splash of blue there (not all on the same card HAHAHA) that be nice.
I am rather new to computer building, only have built 2 towers, never tried tweaking/overclocking yet.
My question is with overclocking cpu's and gpu's. Would is be stable enough to run daily like a gaming grind day in and day out? Depends on how much it is OC'ed?
What is the longevity on overclocked hardware, shorter, a lot shorter?
@opretpally You can have a stable overclock, it does depend on how much it's overclocked, the longevity should not be changed much if proper precautions are taken. You don't want to over voltage it, and you don't want to let it get too hot. It also takes a lot of tweaking and testing in order to find that "perfect" overclock. In other words, the highest stability/performance ratio.
There are multiple factors to take into consideration as long as you conservative with your ovevolting and ensuring consistent and adequte cooling you should be able to maintain healthy overclocks continually ( 24/7 ) without overall compromising the lifespan of those components. Be advised though aggressive overvolting without solid cooling with definately compromise the lifespan. On our end SAP components and DCII cooling helpt to ensure you will be ok as well.
At that frequnecy overall you should be ok in not limiting the GPU but keep in mind refinements in archeteture on newer CPUs procivde benefits indepedent of pure frequnecy benefit. That being note the system you have can definately be a platform to suppor the Matrix. Thanks for the view and support.
@adamjamesroe true. but like JJ said, this card is meant for overclocking while maintaining a considerably quiet performance, so cards like this probably has its place in the market.
I have Asus EAH6950 and im wondering that what people use to clock theyre VGA?
I personally used Asus SmartDoctor beacuse im not that good at overclocking but i want to know how accurate is it? beacuse i clocked my VGA to 950MHz Memory:5400MHz Vcore 1.25V
so is that good? beacuse i see alot of VGA's that cost atleast 200bucks more but they are slower and have less memory.
SmartDoctor is a solid application but it has been replaced by our new GPU Tweak feel free to check it out at the ROG Forums. That being noted if you have verified your OC then i would not worry about it at this time. Thanks for the view and the support.
Sorry you found the information repetitive. Most of what i detailed was based from feedback and questions collected from real users in our ROG Forums as well as other tech media. I try to keep things straightforward. Regardless thanks for the view and support.
However, a waterblock company from Germany named "Liquid Exctacy" makes a very high end waterblock for the Msi Lightning GTX 580. The Msi Lightning GTX 580 is the same level as power as this card, and actually oveclocks better.
As we use a non reference PCB most likely best option would be GPU block and then heatsinks for the memory and VRM ( which you could keep the one that is already on the board. hanks for the view and support
Thank your for getting back to me so soon. I'm purchasing the new evga gtx 580 classified hydro cards. Will try to get a stable overclock to 1.0 ghz. That should be enough for gaming. I know there will always be better and faster cards out there, I just wanted the best as of now when I build my system.
@RCXDerp Incorrect. Tom's Hardware and Passmark both confirm that 6950 CrossFire benchmarks much higher than the 580. In fact, due to the low efficiency of SLi and how poorly is scales, two 6950s is still better than two 580s.
Looks it up, read actual reviews and benchmarks and real-world tests. Don't get me wrong, this card is AWESOME, it's just a bit pricey for it's performance.
SLI actually has the best consistent scaling of current multi GPU configurations. it was not untilt he 6000 series that AMD got almost to the same consistent levels of scaling. That being noted current generation AMD or Nvidia solutions provide solid multi gpu performance and generally offering scaling exceeding 75% on avg with some games being more.
@SuperSayanFitness you should never play in 30fps cause youll have frap drops or say an explosion happens next to you... the game will drop frames to maybe 15fps. if you play in 60fps, you can stop that cause frames might drop to 45fps.
@SuperSayanFitness FPS dips a lot, with more things coming onto the screen, or some functions that use a lot of graphics (like explosions), the 30 FPS buffer zone makes the game look seem-less with these things do happen. If you have 30FPS and explosions happen, it's gunna dip to like 15/20 and you're going to notice it
@SuperSayanFitness Smoke will fuck up that 30fps. Smoke is the hardest effect for a graphics renderer and computer to handle and will drop your frames massively. Quite often it will cut them in half, kinda depends on your settings though.
