  • So how's this thing handle by itself compared to previous sli or crossfire setups? Would just 1 of them be recommended for wanting the highest settings and playing 100% fluid? Duke was a lil draggy on my 5870v2 setup... so wondering if this would fix that.

  • @izlude2 also... are you able to get full power by converting 6 pins into 8 pins (via adapter). Or do you only get 6pin rated power? (i noticed it splits the wire from the 6pin to flow into the 8th pin.)

  • wonder if his name is jesus (haysoos)? then he'd be haysoos from aysoos

  • I had the exact same card until it's broken last day. Never overclocked it. RMA it now waiting for a new one.

  • great video card, but its nowhere avaible in germany atm. you need to build some more asus.

  • Well spoken.

  • Can i run 2 off them Plizz answer.

  • @xXNyanPigXx If a card is SLi ready, wut the fuck do you think?

  • But... Does it blend?

  • But will it blend?

  • this is so beast you can play bf3 in full settings :D

  • @SirAngel17

Thanks for the view and support.

  • no pancakes, but it makes waffles and french toast..

  • whys J J trying on the zoro looking mustache?

  • @funkydeu

too much work and too little time leave me with little time to shave lol but the stace has been offiicially put down. Thanks for the view and support.

  • Can I do the matrix with this card?

  • Great video, asus has some really nice cards performance wise.

Personally though I think there cards are hella ugly ... Otherwise there great.

  • @zexx

Thats for the feedback we generally have had great feedback our our ID designs but i appreciate your perspective what specific thoughts do you have? Thanks for the view and support.

  • @ASUSIlluminati With Blue, white and black being the theme on MOST motherboards and even more cases out there It be cool to see a wider range of color accents on the cards. On most the higher end Asus cards I see only red and that military green. Thats cool if you have one of the higher end ASUS Rampage boards or a saber tooth board.

I mean not to make the cards look like a clown, but a hint of white there,or splash of blue there (not all on the same card HAHAHA) that be nice.

  • I am rather new to computer building, only have built 2 towers, never tried tweaking/overclocking yet.

My question is with overclocking cpu's and gpu's. Would is be stable enough to run daily like a gaming grind day in and day out? Depends on how much it is OC'ed?

What is the longevity on overclocked hardware, shorter, a lot shorter?

  • @opretpally You can have a stable overclock, it does depend on how much it's overclocked, the longevity should not be changed much if proper precautions are taken. You don't want to over voltage it, and you don't want to let it get too hot. It also takes a lot of tweaking and testing in order to find that "perfect" overclock. In other words, the highest stability/performance ratio.

  • @opretpally

    @opretpally

There are multiple factors to take into consideration as long as you conservative with your ovevolting and ensuring consistent and adequte cooling you should be able to maintain healthy overclocks continually ( 24/7 ) without overall compromising the lifespan of those components. Be advised though aggressive overvolting without solid cooling with definately compromise the lifespan. On our end SAP components and DCII cooling helpt to ensure you will be ok as well.

  • does it do my homework?

  • but.. Will it blend?

  • JJ=Paul + Hair

  • @ Rowsol84 if you don't want to see ASUS promoting amazing products then don't watch the videos. JJ is doing a great job keep up the good work.

  • @Rkogrl619

Thanks for the view and support!

  • but can it blend....?

  • but can it blend....?

  • but can it blend....?

  • How can I get my hands on Asus ROG t-shirts and case badges etc etc... anyone?

  • I want :) This card is superb

  • @shankly1985

I think most do thanks for the view and the support.

  • 9:00 We don't make it as good as possible, that's up to the customer. (huh?)

  • you think my Core 2 Quad Q9400 OC'ed to 4.00GHz will bottleneck this card?

I wanna get it but I'm not sure..

  • @djabi90 lol most definitely

  • @djabi90

At that frequnecy overall you should be ok in not limiting the GPU but keep in mind refinements in archeteture on newer CPUs procivde benefits indepedent of pure frequnecy benefit. That being note the system you have can definately be a platform to suppor the Matrix. Thanks for the view and support.

  • But can it make pancakes?

  • @KreKeriS911 only if you turn the fans down a bit

  • @KreKeriS911

yes this is so beast it can make chocolate covered pancakes

  • @CoksAZ

Our R&D guys are still working on that. Thanks for the view and support.

  • @ASUSIlluminati Why Asus did not showed any AMD cards?

  • @KreKeriS911 Only after voltmodding. Voids warranty.

  • @KreKeriS911 u have to buy gtx480 and overclock it i'm afraid, this is much more cooler...

  • @KreKeriS911 No, it's way too cool, so no chance of frying pancakes. =/

  • @KreKeriS911 wrong, will it blend?

  • @OriginalFutureChaos Wrong, nobody gives shit?

  • Asus vs EVGA . . . Who's better?

  • @jacobmcr858 EVGA for me, but I don't mind ASUS too.

  • @lpjz290 Proably, tbh this card is a bit of a waste of time, get one with 3GB or a reference pcb.

  • @adamjamesroe true. but like JJ said, this card is meant for overclocking while maintaining a considerably quiet performance, so cards like this probably has its place in the market.

  • @adamjamesroe Yeah, reference PCB is the best available. It's not like there have ever been cards that had superior performance on non-reference PCB.

  • lol my video card crashed while i was watching this video

  • @dairysnacks17 Because it's jealous.

  • @dairysnacks17

LOL, thanks for the view and support.

  • ASUS really has been making the effort to most open and user friendly video card manufacturer.

  • @tmar23

Thanks appreciate the view and the support. It is great to hear positive feedback from users like yourself.

  • ULTRA BRIGHT BREAD COLOR ACTIVATEEEEEE

  • has j.j. gained weight?

  • Search good motherboard for i5-2500k and gtx570! any good ideas???

  • You mirrin brah?

  • "Beat J.J. at Arm Wrestling: Mr. Lam" ROFLMAO

  • I don't know why, but I wanna see the led for the voltage meter. Thumbs up if you do to!

  • @CmptrPrgmr i agree and im probably the only one whos going to agree

  • He has a fucking stache now????????????

  • @SymSne no he has THE stash now

  • I have Asus EAH6950 and im wondering that what people use to clock theyre VGA?

I personally used Asus SmartDoctor beacuse im not that good at overclocking but i want to know how accurate is it? beacuse i clocked my VGA to 950MHz Memory:5400MHz Vcore 1.25V

so is that good? beacuse i see alot of VGA's that cost atleast 200bucks more but they are slower and have less memory.

  • @Astro247z

SmartDoctor is a solid application but it has been replaced by our new GPU Tweak feel free to check it out at the ROG Forums. That being noted if you have verified your OC then i would not worry about it at this time. Thanks for the view and the support.

  • @ASUSIlluminati Oh man.. you Asus people are like a dream.. :D always when i have had problem, somebody from Asus has helped me :) Thanks!

  • JJ GOT A MOUSTACHE!

  • @Kezariak

LOL yes but now it is gone. Thanks for the view and for the support.

  • 3 Slots!? By god, that's a monster. I have never seen that before. Wow.

  • @PTNLemay

Yeah it really helps to ensure a quiet but very cool level of operation. Thanks for the view and support.

  • This card is really awesome...

  • @Martinx88813

I agree with that. Thanks for the view and support.

  • Let me give you a high level overview of this card 00:38 It's a video card...

  • @Nivaku I dont really understand the point of your comment.

  • We get it Asus, buy your stuff. Now stop promoting the same things over and over.

  • @Rowsol84

Sorry you found the information repetitive. Most of what i detailed was based from feedback and questions collected from real users in our ROG Forums as well as other tech media. I try to keep things straightforward. Regardless thanks for the view and support.

  • This would look sexy with my Maximus IV Extreme Z. Maybe for Christmas!

  • @tetraninja

I like that! Thanks for the view and support.

  • hey Newegg, can you ask JJ and tell me where to get the waterblock for this? i haven't seen any gtx 580 blocks that are not for the reference pcb

  • @mrDMxtreme they dont have one for this yet :(

However, a waterblock company from Germany named "Liquid Exctacy" makes a very high end waterblock for the Msi Lightning GTX 580. The Msi Lightning GTX 580 is the same level as power as this card, and actually oveclocks better.

  • @mrDMxtreme

As we use a non reference PCB most likely best option would be GPU block and then heatsinks for the memory and VRM ( which you could keep the one that is already on the board. hanks for the view and support

  • i'm getting this...in about 10 years

  • @WaelOfAnarchy By then it will be worth ~$20.

  • Why am I watching this? I cant even afford it...

  • I wish he would have talked about the actual performance of the card in game.

  • @HotbagelsProject yeh me too.

  • @HotbagelsProject My Asus gtx 570 directcu ii - OMG HOLY FUCK GOD BLESS

Asus gtx 580 directcu ii - MOTHAFUCKIN GODKILLER

Asus matrix gtx 580 - PUSSYJUICE that tastes like candy.

Asus Mars 2 - Beyond our understanding.

  • @ASDfasdfasdfful Well the Mars 2 is just ridiculous. I have an EVGA gtx 580 that will be here tomorrow so I'm pretty happy

  • @ASDfasdfasdfful

LOL this is utterly crazy but awesome thanks soo much for the support and for the view.

  • hey Paul i would like to know where i can get the Asus shirt like the one you have on on this video. Hey JJ should give a shirt way on neweggTV.

  • @MrCozzar551

This is a great idea we will set something up for the next round of videos. Thanks for the view and for the support.

  • Thank your for getting back to me so soon. I'm purchasing the new evga gtx 580 classified hydro cards. Will try to get a stable overclock to 1.0 ghz. That should be enough for gaming. I know there will always be better and faster cards out there, I just wanted the best as of now when I build my system.

  • Will two of these cards in liquid cooling be more powerful than two 580's liquid cooled?

  • @cigarjohn42 Depends what other 580's you are talking about, but definitly not by alot

  • I WANT JJ's JOB !!!

  • @PcCassiopeia

LOL thanks appreciate the call out to help. Thanks for the view and for the support.

  • Benchmarks?

  • Two 6950s in CrossFireX is cheaper and almost twice as powerful as this overpriced thing. gg SLi.

  • @boomerang342126 You're the worst kind of fan boy.

  • @idoopeynolan FINISH HIM!

  • @boomerang342126 The hell are you smoking? this is still better than a 6990... two 6950s in crossfire is nearly equal to a 6990...

  • @RCXDerp This isn't as good as a 6990, and two 6950s are slightly better than a 6990.

  • @RCXDerp Incorrect. Tom's Hardware and Passmark both confirm that 6950 CrossFire benchmarks much higher than the 580. In fact, due to the low efficiency of SLi and how poorly is scales, two 6950s is still better than two 580s.

Looks it up, read actual reviews and benchmarks and real-world tests. Don't get me wrong, this card is AWESOME, it's just a bit pricey for it's performance.

  • @boomerang342126

SLI actually has the best consistent scaling of current multi GPU configurations. it was not untilt he 6000 series that AMD got almost to the same consistent levels of scaling. That being noted current generation AMD or Nvidia solutions provide solid multi gpu performance and generally offering scaling exceeding 75% on avg with some games being more.

Thanks for the view and support.

  • Comment removed

  • @RCXDerp are you confusing this with the mars 2 dual 580? lol. this isn't as good as a 6990, though it is pretty beast.

  • @GameplaysMW3 Yeah, I was I opened both videos at the same time.

  • PUAL.

  • Nvidia: " Well that's the marketing for the GTX 580 done! "

  • UHHH you touch my tralala

  • I love Asus.. such awesome, ridiculously expensive toys!

  • @TheHaxis

Thanks for the view and the support.

  • the evga classified is better

    all around better

    waterblocks are put for it

  • @oOcrazy95Oo its also a lot more, lol. i personally dont want water near my pc. i dont want a leak and kill all my stuff

  • @oOcrazy95Oo

Why not just buy a decent Swiftech Heatsink and buy cheap reference card if you want water cooling?

  • @Hokrollo1 because I don't want you to suck my balls.

  • @axerer6

    Good boy..

  • 580 is to expenzive better buy 560 ti and you cab play all games on high on 22 inch monitor for about 3 years :D

  • @dejanples not a 560... maybe a ti, but even it alone wont do all games on high at 60fps

  • @randrewm97 30+fps is very playable so why 60fps? if more just ad one more

  • @SuperSayanFitness you should never play in 30fps cause youll have frap drops or say an explosion happens next to you... the game will drop frames to maybe 15fps. if you play in 60fps, you can stop that cause frames might drop to 45fps.

  • @SuperSayanFitness FPS dips a lot, with more things coming onto the screen, or some functions that use a lot of graphics (like explosions), the 30 FPS buffer zone makes the game look seem-less with these things do happen. If you have 30FPS and explosions happen, it's gunna dip to like 15/20 and you're going to notice it

  • @SuperSayanFitness Smoke will fuck up that 30fps. Smoke is the hardest effect for a graphics renderer and computer to handle and will drop your frames massively. Quite often it will cut them in half, kinda depends on your settings though.

  • @dejanples not a 560... maybe a ti, but even it alone wont do all games on high at 60fps

  • @randrewm97 Yes i ti i play all without lag i not buy that graphich card to play high fps

  • "I mustache you a question. But i'm shaving the video card for later" This will be posted by someone else just to get thumbs up like they have on the other 3 vids of the GTX

  • 3rd boi

  • 2nd then?

  • First
