As it says in the video a bouncing ball increase/decrease in speed while bouncing - that means the slower it gets, more pictures is needed.
Another approach that is used most often is to draw some key positions(keyframes) and add pictures in between (inbetweens).
That way you can easily get a feeling of what the animation will look like and change the "gap" between the keyframes to adjust the speed before drawing all the inbetweens...
.. (In most cases..) much better than drawing every single frame from start to end in sequential order, not knowing what it will look like until it's finished.
Ummm... I need help. I want to upload some of my animations to YouTube but when I export them as MOV files, they aren't where I saved them. When I save them as PNG images and try to play them in Movie Maker, they don't come up on the screen. Its just black. Help!
Oh I kinow what your talking about! The problem is that the export to MOV and export to image sequence command does not work in Windows currently, it only works for a Mac. So all you can do right now is wait for a new version of pencil OR screen record your animations like you see in this video.
@RunningStream111 That's odd. While Quicktime export doesn't work on Windows, image sequence export does work for me. It also works under Ubuntu Linux.
If you for example want to upload to youtue use "Movie..." (doesn't work in windows I think) or export as still images and put together in an other app. (The standard camera size works good for youtube)
For final export I recommend using the png export(movie export gives bad colors and png gives better quality than jpg). Just don't forget to make a background (ie paint a white background that will cover the camera area) since the png images will have transparency.
If you use windows you could try Monkeyjam or Avidemux(for linux and os x as well(but I haven't tried it yet)). Or you could look for other programs that will do the task(have a search on download . com, versiontracker, macupdate).
just simply export as stills and put it together in a software that uses the codecs that works for you.(I know there isn't any .mov-export in pencil yet for windows/linux-users but I'm pretty sure you computer supports mov-files.) or export as a swf-file.
why would you like wma for exporting an animation? :P
if windows.. I don't think there will be any window telling the progress.. but just wait for a while.. at least that worked for my friend using windows.
else, if I can't help you, try ask at the Pencil forum.
an other thing.. when saving in pencil, it saves a xml-file and a map whit bitmap-images in. it doesn't work to dubble-click it(the xml-file.. hasn't .xml named after it either) to open in pencil so you have to choose open from within the program.
Hi there is there any shortcut keys for creating a new keyframe? I couldnt find any reference in the user manual :c

This is amazing!
I've been really wanting to try animating for some time now, so I appreciate the video.
But I have a question: What is that grid picture you dropped into Pencil at 0:24 ?
Where can I find it?
Thanks so much.
^.^

You mean the line I drew?
