I'm a hardcore NIN fan, and I think this was a great approach to a great song.
I don't think there's anything wrong with covering an already "perfect" song. There's always another perspective to see it from. And I think that this version effectively captured the sexy, dirty beast that Closer is. It was true to the artists and true to the original at the same time. Very cool.
(Maroon 5's version lacked the passion/grit needed for the song. Musically it was ok, but it wasn't true to the song.)
No band should ever cover this song. There is a reason it is nin's most acclaimed song. It is perfect. Especially when your singer really sucks. wow. I heard Maroon 5 covered this song. That is so OPD. maroon 5 could be one of the worste bands ever assembles. Adam Levine can seriously suck one.
