I know the cave you are talking about. Someone has built a little rock wall in front of it and made a couple of stone seats inside. It is a great place for lunch. The remains of the B17 are still there if you know where to look.
I remember going up cheviot that way back in 1978 aged 9, we sheltered in a small cave??while a hail storm blow through then walked up to see the remains of the B17
