Ahem, one does not overshoot, one spots a bird circling out the front whilst one is on finals - then one pulls on and goes for the thermal (well that is what the old boys used to say lol).

@armandin2048 Usually one does; six weeks ago I overshot because I couldn't turn on my approach due to two kites being flown in the field, didn't get any lift, turned back to the hill and did a fly on the wall, banged my knee on a rock and needed 5 stitches.
