Awesome axe. However in such length it serves more as a halbert as a real axe. I think the thrusts should be less if that's your fighting style. Also LARP doesn't really allow thrusting because of the core right?
@Flaphand Actually, it does thrusting very well. The core (a very sturdy wooden broom-stick) stops at the middle of the middle of the axe-ends. So the top of it, the end with the spear-bit, it quite safe to stab with. It simply bends and deflects away harmlessly. I've manned the weapons control post where I larp many times, the guys there know I'm good with my homemade weapons. That said, I am planning on making a replacement for this soon: its really old now and quite worn.
Interesting weapon. It'd be cool to see an actual vid of you using it in a skirmish or a duel. I'd think it'd be hard to overcome a sword and shield guy with a rig like that but I may be wrong. I like unique weapons. I fight madu now.
don't like to discuss so this is the last i will write.
to tell the truth I am a tactical person, i always think of all opportunities there is and when i look at you wep and the power you got + the range + it's double headed and useable as spear.
I think of ways to get close whit daggers and swords, there are actually many possibilities
SO yes its posible for a 16 year old boy to hit you down BUT ofc. it demands that you have a GOOD taktic otherwise you would be swisschees.
true true - and for tactics then mixed unit tactics play a big role where i play. i never fight alone, usually accompanied by ten to twenty others, armed with a mix of spears and 1hand weapons
its always tricky to predict how combat goes like that. indeed, good tactics always work, but the battle plan is always the first thing to die on the battlefield
the moment you thrust that wep or swing it he will use one to hold it back and the other well you know DEATH
unless after the first try you swing the bottom of it towards him, but then he will use the movement against you and slam you hard on the other side of your body.
double axe means double duty. i can assure you i can parry with one end, then swing it around for a poke with the other end. i've done that a lot.
plus, with me holding a two handed weapon i can also wield it as a spear, keeping him at a distance. if he gets passed the front end, then the back end can be swung around quite easily as well - and since i'm using both hands, i can put a lot more weight and force behind it, more than you can when holding just one sword in each hand
here i thought i could see some serious action but even my brother 16 who went to roleplay once knows fighting tecnicks that would blow your ass off, AND me who only fought once in my life whit such weps could also...
sorry to disappoint. although i would love to see a 16 year old to overpower a 24 year old in single combat - i can put a lot of power behind those blows and sweeps. trust me, facing off against someone with a double axe, is no easy task, especially if your opponent knows how to use it.
that entirely depends on where you play and what is allowed. in my case where i play allow it if the 'tip' of the spear is soft enough. plus the core ends down at the middle of the 'axe' part so there's plenty of room to bend on contact.
the tip of the spear part of the weapon is of a different kind of foam that is extremely soft, compared to regular foam mats, but still more solid that matress foam.
seems pretty badass.

forgot to tell he is useing 2 X 1hand-swords
the moment you thrust that wep or swing it he will use one to hold it back and the other well you know DEATH
