  • finest oh shit moment by the king :D

  • giant elephants with spiked tusks...fucking awsome.

  • 2:29 This guy scares me ..

  • 0:52 first Oliphant model of Volkswagen

  • Theoden always was the retarded one. First helms deep and now this. Ride into chargin horde oliphants? Its the most handicaped "strathegy" i seen, he must have down syndrome or something( no offence). He MUST be happy that aragorn and gandalf were their to clean up his mess all time.

  • @tysswe1 well, when your force consists of all cavalry, and any allied infantrymen are still fighting inside the city, there's not much else you CAN do. Flanking is difficult to do because the size of the oliphaunts themselves (note the range of the tusk sweeps and the fact that only so many horses can squeeze through the legs at any given time) and the number of archers on the towers who can easily cut you down if you're anywhere BUT beneath the beast...

  • @tysswe1 that, and the orc army was reforming behind the charging haradrim. And retreating isn't an option because your choices are A) run from the battle completely and desert your allies B) retreat towards the city which is not only still filled with enemy forces on at least two tiers but which also only gives you a limited amount of space to go before you're smack up against the wall

  • As much as I love LotR, I still think the zombie king move was CHEAP. Like Tolkien knew there was no way for them to win so he'd throw in a trump card. I mean had Aragorn been able to keep them around for a bit longer and used them to charge the Black Gate, they would of done an enormous amount of damage to Sauron's forces. I would of liked to see a massive dwarven army to come back them up but yes I remember someone telling me that the dwarves were fighting their own battles atm.

  • @kydrice The ghosts weren't used in the book. They scared of the cosairs, allowing aragon to get human reinforcements from the south and drive up the river, THAT forced them off.

  • Eomer is better than legolas, he kill two oliphants with one move!!

  • The Haradrin soldiers arelike the "chacal" of don Francisco's show Sábado Gigante

  • Eomir's like "Nah, fuck this guy!" *hurls spear into chest

  • Oliphants = OP

  • 1:11 Théoden: "Fuck"

  • fuck tactics. this is awesome.

  • 1:06 - Look at the little video game character animations running around.

  • rohan seems doing well, i wonder whether they could be able to beat army of haradrim if aragorn didnt arrive in time.

  • *The Rohirrim arrive*

    Me: Wooo! Go Rohan!

    *The Haradrim arrive*

Me: ._. All. My. Fucking. Enthusiasm.

  • 2:22

  • 2:23 lol

  • This is a great series, but there seems to focus more on courage than tactics. For instance: Take them head on, and getting surrounded at the black gate.

  • @christianj125 Yeah, I agree, but if you read the books, Tolkien describes the tactics of the Rohirrim at the Pelennor Fields in more detail, and at the Battle of the Morannon Aragorn splits the Men of the West into two groups on (I think) higher ground, as opposed to one circle of men right in front of the Black Gate. The films focused on individual courage and skill because it looks better on film.

  • @VanDoodah Also according to Tolkien,Haradrim forces alone outnumbered the Rohirrim 3 times. Also the remaining Dunedain are not shown are they. Problem is Tolkien's works are exceedingly voluminous and attention cannot be paid to such details while making a movie. True LOTR book lovers can see the differences. However, all said and done, the movies do stick to the primary plot and have done reasonable justice the books.

  • @christianj125 I think at the point where you're just so damn outnumbered it's all about having courage at that point. The fight at the black gate was more to draw Sauron's attention away from Frodo and his nearing Mount Doom, so in a way that was tactical.

  • BFME 3 plz

  • If only this were Battle For Middle Earth 2. Just pull out your bows. Takes about 10 seconds to take a mumakil out.

  • @socomfan555 HAHAHAH how true. Man they really fucked up mumakil in BFME2, a group of rangers with flaming arrows could easily take out 10 mumakil! Generally if it werent for the graphics, BFME is way better than BFME 2

  • haradrim horn woaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

  • BRING THAT BITCH DOWNN

  • QUADDD!!!!

  • Whiterun vs Hammerfell

  • @SMunozDB7 lolz pretty much

  • 1:58 ROCK and....roll?

  • Comment removed

  • I used to be a mumakil, then i took an arrow in the knee

  • @TDammed that bad joke is no excuse for retards

  • 0:35 Those sneaky-sneaky elephants.

  • think middle earth should have invested in a few elephants

  • The Haradrim killed it.

I love the middle eastern touch of them :D

  • @ibk1908 I know, It's their chanting and war horn that adds a touch of Arabic to them

  • What are the Haradim actually shouting when charging on the Mumakil ??

  • Does no one else hear "Oh shit" at 1:00?

  • @TheHammer231 OMG YES

  • 3:25 shit should have exploded out..

  • so, how's that charging working for you, theoden?

  • @ezioaltiar22 I was going to comment the same!!

  • Haradrim captain/rider is a fucking nutter! Wish there was more of him!

  • Eomer is fuckin awesome..:D

  • nah nah nah at 0:56 The Mumakil love Italian...they're all shouting: 'I guess so! Hey-ey-ey I want some! Oooh ya got pasta!'

  • i like the part when eomer kills 2 mumakils with one spear

    that was epic

  • that attack is so stupid they run with horses on giant elephants (olifant or mumakil)

  • @Slash8270 That was the only way. Or do you have a better strategy?

  • @Vampirewolfking it sure wasn`t only way,trust me

  • @Slash8270 Tell me, what you would have done.

  • i hate those haradrims they are al qaida

  • For the average movie-goer, this scene is brilliant. For someone into battle tactics, this scene just makes me go "WTF?" Seriously.....head on charge against those elephants?

  • @euphmmx They went head-on becuase they knew they were going to their death. It was a suicide mission and they wanted to go out in a glorious style by showing no fear and going full on with the enemy, no running around or hiding. Hence the cries of "DEATH!!" before the initial charge. The Rohirrim simply had the biggest balls of any army in Middle-Earth; small number in people but massive courage.

  • @somethinglacking1 Actually, in the book they simply stood their ground and peppered them with arrows/charged at their infantry. Then Aragorn came with his zombie king and fucked everybody up.

  • 0:56 you can hear harad war chant "Hey you sux and we awesome" and 1:58 "Rock and Roll" XD

  • bring a pet to school day hmmmmmm I KNOW :D

  • @pacificbomber Oh i get it... A HORSE!

  • Comment removed

  • oo!.... AHHHH!!!!!.... ooooooo???.... ahwahwahwa- the guy riding the elephant

  • did anybody else notice that none of the haradrim archers missed their targets.

  • @witchking1234 Lol, precise bastards.

  • This battle scene is simply awesome and brilliant film making.

  • Brilliant acting by Bernard Hill, the look on his face when he see's the harads coming, has a "are you serious? + we are dead" look. But still, his courage overcomes his fear.

  • Rhun and Harad are my two favorites. They're also the two we see the least in the movie. D:

  • @JustMerpMan True. I suppose PJ wanted to avoid using them to keep it simplier: humans against monsters. Subtlety isn't his signature trait, after all. However, the movies would have gained much from the proper use of the "evil men", especially if their motives and heroism would have been discussed.

  • The movie in general is just perfect. I cant think of a way to make this part any better than it is.

  • Hey look, The taliban werent stealing WMD's They were stealign very large mutant elephants made in Taiwan.. like my sneakers.

  • 00:36 That's the exact same reaction I have when I realize I have an exam that I forgot to study for...

  • 2:40 is why Eomer is the biggest badass in LOTR. Yeah, Legolas takes down a Mumakil by himself but Eomer takes down TWO with one spear throw.

  • haha theodens face when he saw the haradrim coming is like... oh damn.. that can't be good...

  • I hate this part ,soo much good soldiers of rohan wasted :(

  • @BillyPitonNS It's my favourite part in the whole trilogy.

  • When the Mumakil is falling, I'm thinking about Dumbo. I don't know why...

  • Éomer you magnificent bastard

  • I LOVE the Haradrim chants, menacing in their almost fanatical unison and volume, even during pitched battle.

  • @TallmanMike

me 2!!! they're based on the maori haka of new zealand. look it up dude its pretty cool. bein polonesian myself i cnt help but like it. goosebumps every time i here them chant.

  • Eomer=hax0r

  • what they should have done is shoot arrows to take out they guys on top, and maybe injure those elephant things

  • wat would happen if aragorn found the ballistae mounted on the corsairs? any1 seeing hidden potential here?

  • haha, alluva sudden aragorn finds the ballistae mounted on the corsairs, game OVER for oliphaunts. (but then you'd miss out on the epicness) "YO legolas, try this badboy out." *legolas devises method for cutting reload time by 75%* "YO ghosts, 3 to each ballistae, legolas will call the targets" (at this point, somehow sauron appear in the middle of the carnage, just to take 20+ ballistae javelins to the face) and don't come back for another age foo XD

  • 3:42 epic !!!!!!!

  • That's how Éomer rides, bitches.

  • Legolas may have killed one oliphant by himself, but remember. Eomer killed two with one spear.

  • Why didn't the Haradrim just conquer Mordor... the poor orcs wouldn't have a chance.

  • @lacremapinotnoir

Sauron got them all convinced he was an emissary of their God and they all basically pledged themselves to his cause.

  • 1:01 some1 oh shit

  • If you really think about this, the order to charge was the best Theoden could give. The riders wouldn't make it to the city walls in time and remeber, they would have to fight their way through a shitload of orcs and trolls in narrow streets. The mumakil would charge right into their rear.

Also, the Rohan charge was pretty effective all things considered, they took down 5 mumakil. If this was Medieval 2 Total War, the beasts would have already gone out of control.

  • charge the Mûmakill headon?? maybe not the best idea :P

  • @ZulJim09 looks epic tho XD but yeah if i was in his shoes...GET INSIDE THE FUCKING WALLS! Mind you i am like Rimmer the smeg head XD

  • 2:55 Eomer simply stand and throws a pike, and two oliphaunts are down. But I notice he never gets credit for that, vs. Legolas who does all that fancy stuff just to take down one. Interesting...

  • @Magster219 Fucking A man youre right! lol

  • @Magster219 I doubt Legolas has the throwing arm of Eomer.

  • Damn those Horsemen have some balls D:

  • 2:45 = JIZZ

  • thats a lucky shot right there

  • i bet when he seen the big beast i bet he is thinking o shit we are fucked lol

  • Kinda sad seeing the Rohirrim torn apart like this, but nonetheless its still one of the most epic battle scenes ever.

  • I fucking looooove the charge, it's so badass.

  • How Theoden solves problems:

    *Take them head on! Chaaaaarge!"

  • @ebaay1 It made for a memorable wedding night at least.

  • at 0:36 Theoden makes a poopy.

  • I swear, I love that horn the Mumakil Shaman has.

  • @requieminmortis The only reason I love the Haradrim. Wait, I lied. I love them for EVERYTHING!

  • @requieminmortis he is a mahud

  • It never fails. Every time I watch this scene, every time I hear the Mumak rider sound his horn, chills of anticipation run down my spine.

  • Eomer all through the vid: "NOW THIS IS A REAL FIGHT!"

  • Unluckiest guy at 1:57. Mumakil on right, roars, then comes back down on him, because his horse reared up.

  • Fair play, the Haradrim kicked Rohan's ass. We see about 4 elephants go down and about 10000000000000000000000 horsemen go down. Should have sent flaming cammels at the mumakil Timur style :P

  • Two assholes didn't like this... fans of Justin Bieber and Harry Potter.

  • @83alastor Eh man campared this to Harry Potter, they're both one of the best movies every! You could've said Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga! lol

  • @SuperAshahzad Well I don´t like Harry Potter, But it's ok, I don't want to start a fight for that and you're right, 'cause now there are three assholes that didn't like this, fans of Justin Fucking Faggot Bieber and Lady Gaga

  • Correction to the title: Charge of Rohirrim vs Mumakil (One of the stupid scenes of the movie)

  • This was my favorite scene from the return of the king

  • amazing how rohan war won the war. Gondor sucks. Rohan beat 2 full armies and Gondor just pissed its pants inside minas tirith

  • @aris205982 i know if anything rohan should be the leader of men not gondor so then aragorn would have to be king of rohan and since i think theoden did die it would be ok

  • @DJxKILLERBOY117 but eomer became king after theoden.and in the book, gondor had a great elite army.they held their own the whole time even when rohan arived.no one passed thru the gate except the witch king because the orcs knew they would get slaughtered.and aragorn was related to isildur, thats why he became king of gondor

  • @ScoTTishN1NJA yes but think about this rohan destroyed isengard with a small amount of help very small amount gondor needed ghosts and ROHAN to fight off mordor and i believe isengard had better orcs to fight with and yes aragorn is the heir but since he is king of ALL men now why not change location(though he shouldnt because the tree is over there and well its a pretty big city) or bring some of the rohan army to teach the gondor army how to fight better

  • @DJxKILLERBOY117 I see your point, but isengard had 10,000 while rohan had 300 plus a thousand elves, then they got like 3,000 horsemen to help them (btw im going by the movie rite now) and gondor went against hundreds of thousand of orcs, plus thousands of esterlings and thousands of haradrim..so they fought more enemies there than the blck gates nd helms deep combined, plus they only had 2,000 soldiers to start with.mordor has a bigger army beause, well, theyre kinda the leader in "evil armies"

  • @ScoTTishN1NJA it was actually only about 200 elves and the horsemen were from rohan and mordor doesnt have the quality soldier isengard had so they need more also at the black gate rohirim men are also there and if you didnt notice the only reason the gondor people wanted to go there was bcuz of aragorn but the rohirim were ready and willing no matter who was in charge

  • @aris205982 That's rather unfair. Gondor was being inefficently led by Denethor, who was going grazy and believing they couldn't win the war no matter what they did. So he didn't really do that much. Much of Gondor's troops were away when this battle happened. Rohan instead was being led by Theoden who mobilized all his troops and put them into some good use. Yes it's true Gondor had at this point lost its previous glory as an empire and grown much smaller and weaker - just not this weak.

  • @Feanorielle It's made clear in the book that when Aragorn took over, he had to reconstruct a country that had fallen into disgrace because it had been badly led for such a long time. But he managed to rebuild the country and in the 4th Age Gondor once again had much more territory and population, becoming the dominant local power.

  • sauron and theodon did multyplayer and because saurons a asshole he pressed q for the war mumaks and theodon couldn't!

  • 2:23 I wish I was one of those guys who really loves there jobs.... I want a job.

  • What is Xerxes doing here?

  • eomer that badass.

  • same problem had by actual army's that used elephants, once the enemy has gotten over the whole "Agh! what the hell is that!" factor, there basicaly giant targets for evey archer within range.

  • rohan riders=polish winged hussars

    Oliphants=german tanks

  • Nice shot !! +100 hit points for Eomer.

  • Just imagine having to clean up after these things.

  • Smeagol is still alive and dislike this!

  • Such a shit leader and Bad Tactic. Why do u charging ? Tell ur soldier to go to white castle. And keep them defensif position.

  • @QuadroBlack Yeah, go to the white city while its Still Overrun with 10000+ Orcs. Wow, great idea smartass. They came to rescue the White city from the Orcs and anything else, which they did. They held off the Haradrim Army long enough for Aragorn and his Oathbreakers to come and destroy both the Orcs and Haradrim.

  • When you see this battle, you can see how shitty a leader Theoden was when it came to military tactics. He just head on charges? O_o

  • @jerichok no he was just so badass xD

  • @jerichok Uh....that's how it was done back then you dumb ass. Massive cavalry charges.

  • @benpg Thats how it was done "back then"? You've studied the military tactics of the humans of Middle Earth? And whether thats how it was done or not, it was still a dumbass tactic. Why not get behind the walls of Minas Tirith?

  • @jerichok Because getting behind the walls would have made it a shitty battle scene and by extension shitty movie.

  • It's times like these that you wish you had a snow speeder w/ towing cable.

  • There is no way an oliphont can walk as fast as a horse run. It's physically impossible.

    But still Rohirrim RULEZ!

  • 0:53 i love that sound xD

  • Way it should have been done: Whilst the Haradrim were charging, the Rohirrim should have split in the middle and gone around the sides. Put a spear in the elephants' arse and flank from behind :) DUMASS THEODEN!

  • @MinecraftLegit It would have been difficult for Theoden to coordinate such a strategy at that juncure, his force was all over the place; he presented the best strategy he could. His millitary experience would have been almost exclusivley cavarly related, and so, he fell back on instict; to present a fast moving solid line of horse back warriors. You may notice that the Rohirm took advantage of the Olophaunt's size to shield them from incoming missle fire whilst targetting their week points.

  • @MinecraftLegit Did you really say 'flank from behind'? Omg.

  • @MR0806 Hehe. Why don't you go and find yourself a sense of humour, and then read my comment again. Just a suggestion :D

  • @MinecraftLegit I found your comment humourous! It just isn't the right way to describe it.

  • this scene makes both Theoden and the Haradrim look stupid. The Haradrim because they formed only one rank, making them incredibly vulnerable to flanking, and Theoden because he charged head into them head on

  • 2:40 Eomer just pwnes the Oliphaunt

  • omg...lol that inital charge...FAIL!!! HAHAHA

  • Wow attacking heads on when they could have easily flanked those slow moving elephants. King Theoden wasn't so bright now was he?

  • Yeah i know those Haradrim are evil and all but damn, he looked sick as fuck. Awesome character design. Love those tattoos, war paints and peircings.

  • The more I watch the charge scene the more I like it. Its the ultimate DGAF moment of Rohan. The horn, the screams, the horses, just awesome. They know where the enemy is and they will go destroy it.

  • I would shit my pants if i saw the mumaks coming towards me

  • the haradrim just reminds me of the local hooligans..

  • and this gentlemen is why i own surround sound

  • Shit...Rohan got owned haha

  • Comment removed

  • Well haradrim got the best horn the most intimidating creatures a crazy leader they are the best

  • God I hate the haradrim....I'd rather throw an orc a birthday party than look at those elephant riding fuckers.
