  • sweet cat ! *_*

  • thank you soooo much

  • Hey, if i change the heat sink from the package with another heat sink which i later bought, will I have to apply thermal paste again?

  • Nice! Informative, to the point, and cats. I give it 5 stars!

  • *kills all wandering cats outside*

  • Remove any... cats.

  • your cat trying to see how its done lol

  • What is the difference between socket 1155 and socket 1156.

Because I want to buy an Intel Core i3 2120 alone I doubt he'll fit if I buy a motherboard with a socket 1156?

  • @CoDBlackOps25 Socket 1155 CPU's will not fit in a socket 1156 motherboard. Don't bother trying you'll just waste your money. Also 1155 is Sandy + Ivy bridge.

  • @MecTecher well thank you I was not sure but now

  • Can this motherboard take an amd possessor ?? Can anyone answer ??

  • @joeyceltic13 no intel motherboard need intel prossessor and amd motherboard need amd prossessor :)

  • hahahahhahahhahaha lol your cat :)

  • same thing on laptop?

  • Dont u have to update your bios or anything??

  • yea, i like it tight

  • wow i was squinting my eye when i put down the lever after u did it (i was scared)

  • cpu cats haha

  • Only on YouTube can your intended computer tip channel so quickly become a cat channel.

  • I have a motherboard with intel core i3 2100 (3.10 Ghz). Will this support Intel Core i5 2400 - 3.10 GHz ?

  • @kleanthisky If your motherboards socket is a LGA 1155 then yes. But i looked at the i3 2100 and it support socket is an FCLGA 1115 (never heard of FC part before). SO replacing the cpu with an i5 is probably a bad idea considering it may not be compatible.

  • @kleanthisky Uh yes, the 2000k i core series are LGA 1155.

  • CPU*

  • I understand that the bracket gives alot of force holding it down, but my vpu got dents on the edges where those clips are.. Is that ok?

  • i favorite for the cat

  • the cat is very beatifull

  • I love this guy , I have a p8p67 deluxe and a i7-2600 too, was a good tutorial, Thanks

  • nice cat hahahahahahahaha

  • You don't need thermal paste? :o

  • I clean my motherboard with warm soapy water before I install new parts. :)

  • @T3hGearos as long as its not COLD soapy water, you will be fine...i learned the hard way

  • Im a little nervous...Im installing my 1366 wednesday when it arrives. I dont want to eff it up.

  • @neemguy81 There's not much you can do wrong when installing a CPU. Make sure it's correctly installed into the socket and also make sure the cooler is installed correctly

  • When i was installing mine i was like * Don'tbreak Don'tbreak Don'tbreak Don'tbreak! Don'tbreak!! DON'TBREAK!! DO NOT BREAK!!... Puh*

  • Installing a CPU with one hand

    LIKE A BOSS

  • is it posible to to install a i5 cpu into a pentium 4 suported mother board?

  • @No2647 Yes. But you will damage your CPU, your Socket, and it won't boot up.

    So no, :P

Unless they are the same socket (Which they are no. i5 I think is 1155/6 and Pentium is LGA 775?)

    :P

  • @PhysicsTowerTeam Core 2 Duo and Quads are also on socket 775.

  • @No2647

That reminds me of an old story where someone had tried the same thing but with a 486 cpu and a 286 board....... As you can imagine it never worked.

  • @No2647 you can glue it together XD

  • When i installed mine, i alligned the notches and i use the lever. i heard something like crunching sound. i dont think its good and im worried, is this suppose to happen?

  • @LSRX4EVER mine did the same thing. Also worried

  • And how to mount the CPU cooler PLZ

  • lol this is such a careless installation

  • i need someone to awnser my question.... can LGA 1155 processor support motherboard with socket LGA 1156?? or LGA 1156 to LGA 1155 socket..

  • @PandaNeko95 I don't think so. I have a LGA 1155 MoBO and its manual is VERY specific that attempting to install a 1156 socket CPU will cause the world to implode in on itself.

  • Can someone answer me? Can I upgrade an Acer M5811 with 1156 and i3 530 to i5 760?? I really need to know this, thanks in advance!

  • Cat is a good source of ESD.

    Meow = zap. :)

  • what do the pins look like if you take the processor out? do they all bend in unison ?

  • @RUINNYS Take apart your comp and find out :3

  • When you push the lever down it makes a small grinding noise right? Or is that not normal? Also the pins on the mobo are bend normally right?

  • That cat love Intel CPU, that's why it is looking very closely...

  • ahahaha gotta love cats.

  • cats =-3

  • When u buy a cpu do u get a cpu fan too??? pls reply!!

  • @MrPyrotech96 Yes you do.

  • @MrPyrotech96 yes about those models they have a fan inside the box.

  • When i try to press down on my lever it feels like I'm needing to put WAY too much pressure on it to make it move and I hear a crunching/grinding noise on the ASRock H61m motherboard. Is this normal? I saw that the brackets on the cpu were in the right place so I dont know what I should do.

  • @jt208481 lol I have the same problem, its so scary when you hear those fibers almost bending, so i'm a bit afraid of pushing it all down. Found a solution yet?

  • @lastho you know what's funny? I just pushed it all the way down. Apparently that happens a lot with intel processors just try to swing the lever to the side more while pushing down and latch it on! It's scary but as long as you have it placed properly you won't be exerting too much force on the actual chip. Good luck!

  • i'm sorry about the cap locksi have a core i5 and on the side of the box it says that my core i5 has both hyper threading and turbo boost and in one of your videos you said that the i5 doesn't have hyper threading or did i misunderstand

  • I JUST PURCHASED A CORE I5 AND I SAW ONE OF YOUR VIDEOS AND YOU SAID THAT THE I5 DOESN'T HAVE HYPER THREADING ONLY TURBO BOOST MY CORE I5 HAS BOTH HYPER THREADING AND TURBO BOOST

  • @supermanrules221 and i see your keyboard has a capslock

  • 7 people got their motherboards bitten by a dog...

  • @therichpoorguy How did you know

  • even the cat wanted to see if you right Tava oak kkkkkk

  • LOL'd at cat. But anyway nice video tutorial.

  • Where do you get all your stuff from!!?

Also very cool video and computer!!!!!!!

  • hahahaha cats

  • omg i forgot to remove the cat from the table .... :( now i have to buy a new pc!!!!!

  • do you need to spread thermal paste afterwards inbetween cpu and heatsink?

  • @ringleader2k yes or else your fan will burn the cpu

  • @ringleader2k Yes, but spread is a bad word. Don't use more than 2 drops max.

  • @nills99 yes only core 2 duo and core 2 quad use lga 775,1156 uses i3 i5 i7 (860,860s,870,875k) 1336 uses i7 920,930,940,950,960,970,975,980x,990x,theres a 1155 socket but i forget the name for i3,1155 uses i5 2500 and 2500k and i7 2600 and 2600k

  • I thought you werent supposed to touch the top of the cup?

  • mines doing that too, can anyone tell me if thats ok?

  • Thanks man, youre the best, had some trouble after my cpu pop out while installing coolermaster's v6 gt on

    My pc....

  • Your cat is so funny,it seems to help you much for your unboxing and tut vids-Anyways I'm a fan of your work, cheers

  • When I pulled down the lever it made a crunching noise. Normal!??

  • @nobodypersonsomeone mine did too! i think it is normal

  • Nice Bengal!

  • "You should remove any cat from the vicinity " :D lol

    very cool cat

  • Nice cat and good vid :)

  • LMAO about the cat thing ! Thanks for your video !

  • Thats what she said @ 2:10 hahaha sorry had to be said

  • thank you!!!

  • Does this installation process also apply to the 1155 socket?

  • Very clear instructions. Thank you!

  • for those of you that are wondering what the "intel confindential" means i will explain since linus cant for an unknown reason.

lets say you buy a processor. you open it up and it says "intel confidential' or "Engineering sample" then you might want to contact intel about it and also send it back to them. from what i read on the internet intel does reward these owners with some good processors. i read one person got a intel processor that hasn't even hit the market yet and ran pretty well.

  • i bought the corsair h50 closed loop cpu cooler and that has thermal past already applied to the heat sink. Should i apply additional thermal paste to the cpu?

  • You're my savior! Got the exact same Mainboard here and an i7-860 CPU. Was just worried a bit at the end (at about 2:16). Because when I pulled down the lever, I heard a bit of noise/scratches coming from the CPU. Was probably just me being over-worried. Anyway, thanks a lot! Cheers from Switzerland.

  • LOL, "you should remove all cats from the vicinity because cats will cause all kinds of trouble during CPU installation" - those random things are the funniest things ever.

  • would you think upgradeing from a 1.60 ghz to a 2.13 ghz prosssors would actually make a diffrence?

  • @greatsmither depends what cpu, cores, etc. obviously 2.13GHz is faster than 1.60 but it depends.

  • Linus I just subbscribed, keep these videos coming! :D

  • And first you should remove... Remove any cats from the vascinity, because they cause all sorts of problems during installation... LoL!

  • linustechtips ; you burned your cpu. cats are best source for static electric. dont touch them !!!! kick them with plastic slipper LOL :D

  • Hi man,First of all thx for the very good video...In 2-3 days i will have to install an Intel Core i5 2500 cpu (s1155)...I have the follow questions...

1)Its gonna be the same way u installed this one?

    2) Do i have to do something to avoid static electricity?

Answer me if its possible, thx again.

  • @mrdia1995 match the notches up...... ground yourself..... get a 2500k

  • Comment removed

  • nce cat! ! ! ! lol ((:

  • OMFG ROLF BEST TUTORIAL EVAR!!!!!!!!

  • you should remove the cats because they create static, no joke

  • hey dude i need to ask a favor im 15 and i was wondering if u can make a video on how to install an Nvidia GeForce video card in an HP G72 and i have an Intel core i3 plz HELP. (if u can)

  • what about lining up the little arrow in the corner?

    :)

  • LOL!! 1:08!!

  • This is the part that can get hairy if you have a cat :P

  • hi.. ur cats very cute...

  • nect we want a tutorial about istalling RAM XD

  • Katapult at 0:37

  • l o l 1:05

  • Comment removed

  • nice board... Asus P7P55D-E Premium.... i only have the deluxe =[

  • what are...all of the small black boxes lining the cpu area? voltage something?

  • aww thats so cute!

  • Things could get hairy . . . . cat, I SEE WAT U DID THERE LINUS xD

  • Yes, there is some resistence with this board and you WILL hear a sort of sound like something is cracking or getting smashed, it's just the spring in the socket. If you put your CPU and it isn't moving afterwords, you're fine. If it wasn't lined with the notches you'd have a very tough time getting it fastened down in the first place. Again, the little friction sound IS NORMAL. It's just the MOBO. I have a very similar setup and experienced the same thing. No problems.

  • find a cpu XD

  • lol its gonna be loose, thats normal.

  • u shld remove any cars LOL

  • when i did this i got scared cause it was hard to close the leaver cause it was giving pressure so i though i was about to break the pins in my cpu

  • what is the name of this motherboard???

  • @kuracodm

    ASUS 1156 Socket

  • @OiShiRaZ I know its ASUS and 1156 socket... but what name, like: ASUS P7P55D-E EVO or something

  • @kuracodm

    oh you mean Model ?

  • @OiShiRaZ ya

  • @kuracodm

    try search at ASUS website.

    Type 1156 Socket Motheboard.

After that all 1156 model will show up.

  • @simcardsokl I installed mine tonight and I needed to press really hard I really thought I brake it ! For now I dont know if it break or no lOl damn.

  • come on bro.. atleast show the fan installation as well. crap.

  • IfI have read right that moderboard is a ASUS P7P55D-LE or what?

I need some tips on a good but cheep moderboard that you can install the:

    Intel Core i3 530 2,93GHz / 4MB / Socket 1156

  • @worldbmx

just buy Gigabyte or ASUS product. They both good. Buy the cheapest 1. As long it can install your i3 ,i5 and above.

  • just because it has the "intel confidential" thing you cannot tell us anymore the cpu model? lol.

  • Oooh, is the cpu Sandy Bridge?

  • I am getting that pressure in the beginning. when i push it down it feels like my cpu will get damaged. what must i do? help pls!

  • I hate installing processors :( Even though i've done it multiple times.

  • Does any 1 know if this board supports the intel 2 core duo e4500? Plz it would really help me out a lot...?

  • @MrSnowmobiling No. Core 2 cpus use socket LGA 775. This is a LGA1156. They are not compatible.

  • @Lytesson Kk thanks but can I ask you this wouldn't this support intel quad cores? It would really help me out?

  • @MrSnowmobiling It will support all i5 processors (quad core) and some i7s that are made with the 1156 socket (also quad core). The Intel core 2 quad series are not supported.

  • thanx ;)

  • Lol if the cat rubs up against the motherboard that's like instant GG.

  • Do I need to do something when I turn pc on or it's already installed and I can play crysis now? lol

  • This helps a lot, but I have a question. Because you touched the metal on the chip with your bare hands, do you have to use a cleaner afterwards to remove your oils, fingerprints, etc.?

  • cats looking

  • Nice video, loved the cat, lol. For your next video, kitty installs a processor his way!

  • nice cat

  • putting the pressure on the lever for a fresh socket is terrifying

  • @Splooshiba

    i know :(

with my old socket i was shitting it!

then i though fuck it! i pressed it really hard and i heard two proper loud clicks! xD

i though that was the pins breaking but i realised later it is purpose to make the clicks so you know you got it in right :D

  • @BKsMassive i think "oh, fuck it" has been the final approach of most people, including myself :P, but it works, so yay!

  • @Splooshiba not for amd lol but it kinda sucks having pins on the cpu lol

  • I didn't know that I had to remove any of my cats before the installation. Thank you for the tip.

  • Thanks for this guide. It was really, really helpful.

  • hairy if u gotta cat lol

  • now these tutorial news are nice and

  • "Remove any cats"- I liked It

  • Thats horrible, the way the Intel CPU is held in place if freakin horrible.

    The AMD is much better.

    Thanks for the vid.

    Love the Cat part :P

  • lol cats =D

  • Cat+CPU=could of been catastropic

  • I have a feeling that I know what it is. It's most likely the Core i7 875K. It's a non-extreme edition CPU that still has the unlocked multiplier. If that's what it is, I want some prices, benchmarks, etc.

  • That bengal is beautiful! Send me one in a give-away? :)

  • Damn, I thought it would say more than "Confidential" on the CPU.

  • @falubii It might be an old prototype, it says "Intel ©® '08" on it too.

  • catz rulez MOAAAR <3

  • Linus, it should have been easier to tell people about the small arrow at the edge of a CPU

  • very good info

  • thumbs up from me for the cats

  • People have trouble installing a CPU?

  • @sw2de3fr4gt yes when i was building my first my computer and saw the cpu i thought it was a complimentary back scratcher that intel included in the box. Boy was I wrong.

  • @ahmadclk No need to be sarcastic. The instructions that come with the CPU are pretty self explanatory. If a person can't figure that out, then they probably shouldn't be building computers.

  • @sw2de3fr4gt I'm not being sarcastic I'm just making fun of how some idiots that try to build computers screw up the simplest stuff. I mean IMO building a computer is easy as building a lego block house.

  • @ahmadclk I didn't say computer building was easy. You have to make sure parts are compatible with each other. Other things like overclocking, water cooling, setting up crossfire/SLI could be pretty complex. But installing the CPU is probably the most straightforward part.

  • @sw2de3fr4gt Making sure stuff are compatible is ez as hell, all you have to do is read about the products. Overall computer building is not as hard as people think.

  • @ahmadclk People just need to read and research more, after that everything falls into place.
