  • hey tony, i'm painting my suburban black with base coat clear coat...i was told if i wanted that deeper lookin shine to use a single stage triple black instead and then put clears on top as u described in the video. my question is...do i have to get a special clear or the clear i already bought for the base coat clearcoat sys. also do you think the shine will be better or just stick to the base coat clear coat.

  • the basecoat clear coat has to be a urethan /enamel/or arcrylic ,,,which is ppg b/c clearcoat

  • Awesome instruction pal, thank you very much!

  • hi, i sand my hood it has metal showing 12 inch by 12inch, and lot of small ones on the car, i like to know epoxy primer, or poly primer to use, & if it come in shop line, or ppg, i got a qt, of pcl poly primer is it any good, if you know, sorry can i use just the poly or epoxy primer only and put my base coat on it, and love the video keep up the good work

  • @pops67z You can use either or. The epoxy and or etching primer is made for metal.

  • Your the man dude.. easy to learn from you

  • Nice video bro! Only had one question though, I own a 06 STS-V & GM decide you only get 3 color choices for it so mine is silver I want it white so do you think painting over the silver with the white or with a primer first then white work or would it be best If i eliminate the factory paint all together down to the metal!? Thanks in adavance!

  • @jeremihraiden You can paint right over that silver, Did you get our free painting guide over on our site??? check it out at: learnautobodyandpaint(.)com bro.

  • Dude.. you just answered most of my ?'s in the last 5 mins.. I'm gonna be spraying my Jeep soon.. was thinking about the acrylic enamel (it's a '94 jeep..lol).. just trying to make it look a little better.. (paint is fading/clear coat chipping/ primer coming through in spots)..

Not looking for a "hot-rod" finish.. just facelift ..

  • Hey man, I have a question and I'm sorry if it has already been answered... Do you mix in hardener with the base coat along with the reducer? Is that the 50/50 mix you were talking about?

    Thanks in advance,

    Rick

  • @rmorales7590 No. Base is just reducer. Take advantage of all of the training over at: LearnAutoBodyAndPaint(.)com buddy!

  • hey i just want to do a really cheap paint job on my truck , so i thought about using a tractor implement paint because it would be so much cheaper

would u recommend this or no?

  • @andrewpangle You can try Rustoleum...

  • Loved this video... helped a ton! thanks!

  • Yes they do still still omni I just bought some for my car

  • @MrYukon04 Awesome, here they don't.

  • @HowToPaintYourCar that sucks its good paint so where is here?

  • @MrYukon04 Honolulu Hawaii. Now I use Shopline by PPG or the Deltron by PPG. DuPont is cool too.

  • So $100 to $120 is for everything or just clear coat confused? I need primer base coat and clear coat and reducer. What would that coast?

  • @Milwaukeerr Just a gal of clear setup. You can get them in QT size too. Base ranges from $30 a quart to 1,000 a quart.

  • how much does shop line primer, base and clear coat coast for a gallon or quart

  • @Milwaukeerr A complete set about $100 -120. for a gal clear coat. Not bad.

  • urethane and enamel paints witch one is better what are the benefits.

  • @Milwaukeerr Actually I have FREE videos like this over at learnautobodyandpaint(dot)com... you'll see a pop up window with an offer to get these videos. Enjoy!

  • Hey Tony, am thinking about painting my car. It's a light bluish/grey and thinking about painting it gunmetal grey. I have a couple scratches and dings am thinking about sanding them and maybe filling. idk what type grit though. Also for the rest of the car where the paint is ok do i sand it and prime it or paint over it? and what grit if so? I heard you mention you can apply clear coat after primer, and then after your base.. is that correct?

  • what website can i get this paint

  • @jhughes7165 You can buy paint locally at your auto paint shop. And to learn how to spray like the PRO's visit: LearnAutoBodyAndPAint(.)com

  • @SprntrlDeathNinja You can...

  • Really helpful presentation, much appreciated! I have a hood to paint on a blue Geo Metro; using acrylic enamel. You give me the idea to clearcoat the whole car later! maybe mixing in that sivler dust.

  • hi, i'm doing a paint job on my car and i'm using acrylic enamel paint, i know it got some shine in it and it don't really need a clear coat. but i just want the paint to last long time and some extra protection so the color won't fade away. so my question is - can i use clear coat to my car paint? and is it safe? and is this the best way to keep my car paint last a long time? and what kind of clear coat product should i use? thank you...

  • @TheFucYeah Yes you can put clear on an enamel paint job. We also cover these methods in detail on the enamel projects in the learnautobodyandpaint(dot)com course.

  • I work in a small shop down Ahua st. as a prepper.. We bang for a small shop doing rental car accounts.. We use Martin senior paints.. Every shop is different. I use shopline for outside jobs.. Yet I've been really likeing the Martin senior TP520 primer which is ready to block in 20mins. Pricey yet a gallon will last you along time.. 3part. again. I find your video's very affective cause I do it for my profession an I've picked up alot of pointers from your vids. Keep up the good work.

    Aloha!

  • Shooting that massive flakes, Dont u need a 1.6-1.8 fluid tip on your clear gun?

Tony, You should try the new Martin senior fast drying clear.. I use it for my touch ups.. Its pretty expensive cause its 3 part.. Yet you can buff in 20mins.. It cuts time in half.. An time is money... I like the Shopline 630 clear. Yet the Acme 740 is awesome for completes cause you can blast coat after coat with propper flash time with out having it sovent pop like the shopline clear.

  • good stuff to know!!

  • Thanks bro for info...

  • how can you pop out dents for free??
