i just dont understand. I have taken the speaker from a stereo that had a connection to the inline of the stereo so i just took all the pieces out but i does not work. is it because the female from the stereo is intended for headphones, i.e as an output rather than an input?
Yep you got it. The other stomp boxes with the piezo inside the cigar box has a hollow sound. My design, same as yours, has more of a bass drum type of sound. It all depends on what your looking for, but I think the hollow sound of the cigar box versions sounds terrible.
@1xDRCx - these are known as 'stompboxes' also, and some acoustic players use them to provide some basic percussive / rhythmic sounds to accompany themselves. You need to broaden your horizons.....
@gnrfanatic141414 I use a similar one when my friend and I do acoustic jams together and we don't have a set idea of what we went drums to sound like, it allows you to lay down a decent rhythm to make it sound fuller and play (in my case) ukulele/guitar at the same time.
Man, I tried making one of these a few days ago and it doesn't make anywhere near the noise yours seems to make. I guess maybe my speaker isn't good enough. I hadn't seen your video but I made it virtually exactly the same but mine's rubbish....
have u thought of a deeper box and mounting the speaker on the inside? i was about to buy a porchboard for 250 dollars til i seen this, thanks so much for sharing this with everyone. take care and keep the mods coming

hi,
i've tried to build a stomp box like yours,
i have a box, with a speaker screwed on to it
and the speaker is soldered straight to the input jack
but it isn't working.
do you know what i have done wrong?

This sounds really good. Also folks, do a search for STOMP BOX BOOT if you want a really strong stomp sound that is affordable and quick to make...

@Elmac000000000 you could be right, just cut the wires and connect an input jack should be good to go then. You dont need to be an expert solderer.

@jamescaptainfarrell yeah you are right, a stomp box needs to be fairly solid. Hardwood is prob the best

I couldn't be bothered cutting the wires

why would you put a tweeter on a stomp box???

Is it necessary to wire in a pad, so you blow your speaker?

a stompbox is a guitar effect pedal, i have no idea what that thing is, doesn't seem very useful.....

@CapnTac sorry that comment was written 8 months ago, and i thought back then a stomp box was a pedal effect. i had never heard of anything like this
