  • Rb26 is a better made engine parts and shit are better made and the whole engeering with first ever itb turbo design higher reving with roller rocker on the head, supra 2jz isnt a bad motor but its doesnt have in engeering aspecs as the rb26. Im not saying the 2jz motor isnt beautiful motor and it is a beast but for less problems and better buck and cheaper because of wireing which is a bitch i would do rb26 all day and i would never put a toyota motor in a 240sx ever then its not a nissan. If

  • Traction.

    In the rear those are MT ET Street Bias Ply and in the front Sportsman Pro front (skinnies).

    Once your car has real power (500whp+) you'll find that traction does not come as easy as it does with your 170whp sr. When I'm launching at 4000rpm at 17psi on a Transbrake you need tires that can actually give you traction so you can actually win a race against something besides a civic.

  • How much did the swap cost including labor and parts???? XAT racing wants $15k because it includes a v16x and very low mi. 2jz, but thats still a little high.

  • It's an expensive swap. My car is sponsored so I didn't pay a huge amount. 15k sounds a little high. Where are you located?

  • I'd probably sell mine for 15k, It's got a Th400 and a big single turbo, makes 440whp on 91 octane pump gas and does mid 11s. :)

    Transmission alone was 5k, plus the turbo was 2k, swap was a good 9k or so. lol.

  • LS6 has better delivery and powerband, the 2jz has more total power. In the 500hp range the LS6 is better IMO, more than that the 2jz is better.

  • When you rev it up, you can hear a ticking. like something is bouncing around. any idea what that is? my 2JZ doe it too. but seems to stop or get a lot quieter once it's warmed up.

  • No, same one. The other video it was on twin turbos this is a single, probably the only difference which might have effected exhaust tone.

  • Yeah, video is over a year old. The car WILL drag your ass all down the 1/4 kicking and screaming. The car does a few seconds faster than that now.

  • They are weld draglites. I have some stock 240sx SE rims that I usually drive on. It's got too much power to do any type of racing on anything but a slick or a good drag radial.

  • Yes and no.. To put the TH400 trans it it had to be modified a good amount but not the motor itself. I've had my motor for a good 3 years now but I think someone has a kit to install the 2jz now.

    Not everyone is a RB fanboi. Both have their pros and cons.

  • you can use the rb26 tranny. you just cut off the transfer case and weld in a plate. thats whats in my s13 i like the rb and respect the 2jz as well

    and you dont see alot of supra engines in a 240

  • Stupid, narrow-minded hillbilly. Neva2wicked pretty much said it all. The only real con for swapping the 2JZ is finding someone who knows how to do it. Its pretty new to the tuning world. At least, its newer than the RB swaps. I own a 91 240sx myself and believe me, if I had enough money to swap in a 2JZ, I would. Either that or a VG...but anyway. Good job on the hybrid-swapped 240sx. Sounds nicely done.

  • 2jz's have more power potential than RB's, and its alot easier to make high amounts of power before spending tons of $ with a 2jz.

  • Some of you people don't seem to understand. The 2jz-gte puts out MORE Power stock MORE power modified MORE power on stock internals. It's to be expected, it's a BIGGER engine. So don't compare it to the RB as if the RB is better, it's not. Also, since it's larger it will have LESS lag than the RB. Yes, you can make a RB30, but you can also Stroke a 2jz to 3.4.

  • It's a TH400 automatic, it's a drag car. 700hp. You people don't seem to get it. The 2jz is a larger motor. It's maybe not "better" per size but the RB is a 2.6 at the largest and the 2jz is a 3.0. The 2jz can hold more power, has better response and is better in every way pretty much.

  • don't be naive. the RB and the 2J are both rated at the same horsepower (stock). The RB can hold up to 600ish HP on a stock bottom end whereas the 2JZ can hold up to 700ish on a stock bottom. Don't get me wrong, the RB is a sexy motor, but it's not better than the 2JZ just because you say so. Both motors are equally as good, but I'd take the 2JZ in a 240 because everyone else has an RB.

  • sr20 is not a bad swap at all,they hold 530hp on stock bottem end.But 1jzgte hold 700 and sound alot better.The sound is intoxicating,my boy has a 2j supra and when he comes down the block its sounds crazy,people jump outof the houses to break neck.

  • I don't know much about the 2jz' but all I know is my RB26 in my skyline gets crazy power on light modifications and has hug potential. Just as much or more then the 2jz'.
