Rudy Giuliani brought EMS into the FDNY and slapped a sticker on the side. it used to be NYC EMS,They do not get along and won't until EMS stops giving their patch a bad name. You Have to earn a FDNY patch! going to paramedic school dose not cut it! FDNY firemen do not work on Ambulances they are single role paramedics and EMTs not firemen! I know a guy that works for Fairfax County and they do have rotation and do work on medic units. Where I work we use and work on squads, not ambulances.

I have earned a FDNY patch, and I know Dennis or on youtube his screenname is "LAcoFireGuy" He is right! Some of the EMTs and Paramedic are slobs and lazy! They do stupid ass shit and make our Department look bad! My family goes back 100 years with the FDNY and I will not Stand for some street Doctor to make the FDNY look like a bunch of asshole slobs! I know some very good EMT I hope become firemen. We have loads too but they earned the FDNY patch when they left "The Rock" as firemen!

I know some guys from the FDNY and have changed it up and marched in St Paddy's day Parade in NYC. The EMS and fire do not get along all that well. From what I was told was the disrespect the Paramedic showed toward guys that had been wearing the FDNY pach for 20+ years. I have no problems withmy Department! I love EMS it keeps me a job lol

@MrStevo101 Actually it's the other way around, my father is a in FDNY EMS high ranking and he was there with the merger. The firefighters think that EMS get's respect only because they get to wear the FDNY patch. Many old school NYC EMS now FDNY EMS want the name of NYC EMS because they had a name. Now they go by FDNY EMS. I'm not saying it's firefighters only I am just saying I hear it from alot of people that Firefighters think that EMS is fake FDNY. But then again alot of Firefighters went

Thank you for putting in EMS too. It makes me feel good knowing that some people think of the EMS, most of the people I know don't think of the EMS being a part of FDNY. I mean they are nice to each other(FDNY AND EMS) but other people ehh don't really acknowledge them. My dad is a Deputy Chief for EMS and I lived around this life all my life.
