"This is what happens when white people are allowed to rap." Or, you know, Eminem. Or Mac Lethal. Or Beastie Boys. Or Sage Francis. Or Bubba Sparxxx. Or Pitbull. Or Everlast. Or Aesop Rock. Or Brother Ali. Or Eyedea. I didn't think people made statements about hip-hop like that anymore. It's like saying "this is what happens when black people play heavy metal" and pointing to Black Death, while completely ignoring Hendrix. Fuck you.
It would be a good video if it wasn't for all of your ignorant comments. Especially "this is what happens when white people are allowed to rap." Also, why are you that concerned and or surprised that one of these guys (or both) are Jewish? I would almost go as far as to say that white people are better at rapping. Especially compared to all the uninspired bullshit that's been coming out for the past 10 years plus that just perpetuates retarded stereotypes in african-american culture. swag? no.
@rupertperrywinkle fuck you faggot racist dose and yoni are geniuses but it doesn't have shit to do with the fact they're white. talent is never determined by race, unless you're talking about rape (white ppl r the best @ that) :)
Sure the lyrics make no sense, but why does that matter? This song is incredible. People get hung up on meaning. It's not what they say, it's how they say it. cLOUDDEAD fucking rocks
I think it's funny because yes this is a good song, the video is decent... but the jewish one is NOT the one rapping fast... I'm pretty sure that Dose is the one rapping fast. Not that it matters that Yoni isn't rapping fast as the jewish guy.. but if you're going to point out that the jewish guy is the one rapping fast and at least be right about it... but that is not the case... Yoni and Dose have 2 VERY different voices and rapping styles. How could you confuse them?
@psychopopdesign Agreed, I mean if you listen or watch ANY of there stuff especially the live stuff, you'd know the difference between Yoni and Dose's voices, styles, tones.... pitch... you don't even have to know anything about music to just listen and hear the difference... and the fact he pointed out the fact that he was Jewish ontop of it, when it doesn't matter 1 and 2 he pointed out the wrong guy.. makes him an idiot and a biggot...
they are both jewish dude, "adam DRUCKER" "jonathan WOLF" come on, how could you not know that? and they both rap pretty fucking fast... their styles clearly intersect, yoni's delivery is a clear mix of ol dirty bastard, grand master flash and... uh... superman?
There's nothing really insane about the lyrics at all. Sure, if you throw a bunch of pictures with out-of-context lines, it looks crazy. But had you looked at the words actually pursuing some kind of meaning instead of focusing on the strangeness of them, it might not have seemed so absurd. This is the first time I've heard this song, and I gathered quite a bit of meaning. The song is about decay in all things, living and otherwise. It's not that hard.
ok these lyrics are just shitty.... but i guess if people like lyrics with no main theme just jumping from non interesting things like rust on your car, then these are your guys
It then becomes self evident that nature is responsible... To peel deer from desert fun... To sleep through vulture mouths... It's femur like a chopstick!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A murder of mosquitoes, moths, and gnats ravage the fluorescent flickering ribs of a motel lot flood light, their frantic trajectories perfectly sketching insane in it's halogen corona.
The funny thing is that almost all of the lyrics in this song are about actual events or images that the guys have seen (mostly while on tour). I'm buddies with one of them & I've gotten a break down on several songs. The juxtaposition of the lyrics is what makes it sound confusing (or amazing in my humble opinion), but it all came from somewhere. Personally I could never write like this, but I'm always impressed when others can.
BTW, entertaining commentary (especially the congressman part).

THIS IS TRUE ABSTRACT HIP HOP, the lyrics are not suppose to make sense anyways these types of songs are the songs u shud smoke a blunt with or just chill back
you want to know what it means? it's various metaphors comparing life and death, humans and animals, etc."a single long stemmed rose resting between two antlers" compares how we mount beauty of life right in between death. Humans are compared to ants twice through out the song which can be taken to mean that in the big picture we are all just bumbling around without any clear impact. they also compare red raw salmon steak to a urinal cake which is an example of how ridiculous human nature can be
I think its about them being on tour... on a bus. "Two dogs" also. Theyre making songs of things that wouldnt normally get sung about and yeah comparatively saying "whats it all worth" with real tangible metaphors doing the leg work. Although we didnt see what caused them to write the songs, theyre trying to get us to "see."
I mean becoming fossilized underneath asphalt waiting for some posthumous species to find us is a possibility... I believe.
i haven't looked at the rest of their videos, but i get the feeling the dumb comments about "2/3 white 1/3 jewish" and "i'm sure each of these lines are particularly meaningful" are made in jest.
the creator of the video illustrated very clearly the meaning of the lyrics (which are mostly descriptions of images) by putting this together. seems sorta "absurd" that they might not even be aware of the 'meaning' here.
the red raw salmon steak in the bathroom urinal XD omg! ahaha! and This is what happens when white people are allowed to rap! AHAHA! i"m about to pee on myself! .... crap :/
Maybe if you bothered peering past the veil of apparent literal meaning you could understand. Maybe poetry uses to be more than one meaning to one person (i.e.- you). Maybe you are the quintessential ignorant American, a product of the declining educational system...
Honestly... I don't think you should be putting all Americans in the same boat. Not all are the same. Just because one makes a stupid comment doesn't mean everyone is that way. Though there are a lot, it still isn't all.
@FeedsNoSliesMusic By observing the ignorant comments he left and stating that "white" people shouldn't rap, he forgoes any support from my end. ("White" isn't a culture anyway, they're Jewish if it even matters.) Do you think he made supportive comments? Do you think his user name "Absurd Music" is indicative of someone who looks for something positive in his/her posts. Obviously not from his posting. My comments are based on the post here. No guns are jumped.
thank you so much for taking the time to put the photographs to the beat and exactly what they are saying. wow makes perfect sense now why people do drugs
the Wolf's were raised jewish any way that means they are of middle eastern descent. But why emphasize that they are white? THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN POETS AND ART STUDENTS RAP!
at least its not about bitches and hoes. this music is changing the mindset of rap: its not about being a gangster anymore, its going back to the roots: an expression of one's poetry with the accompaniment of music. but ya mainly full of meaningless artistic lyrics
This is what happens when intelligent people are allowed to "rap". It has nothing to do with race. I may be a fan, but I'm not ignorant. Thanks for the upload AbsurdMusic, I guess.
i first this video while i was not in my normal mindset if you know what i mean.
The lyrics made perfect sense, cause your in that mood to just speculate about everything, every little word paints a new thought inn your mind that leads you down a different thinking path.
I've tried for so long, but I still can't get how he does the "thrice we passed this truck all packed with pigs, this truck is always packed with pigs". Jesus Christ it's fast.
The line that really gives away this song's meaning is "Oil drills like some sick, sedated, rythmic robot, rape mode like brain washed flies at a carcass." They realize that man is destroying the environment.
The lyrics aren't insane, to me it's always seemed like a stream of consciousness type thing, and those strange things you've seen throughout your life and how they stick out in your memory.
@mydawgisdead It seems to me a bit pretentious at times, but my GAWD, it's amazing. And the whole album ("Ten") never fails to impress. Especially over consecutive listens.
i think all of these lyrics have something to do with their childhood / lives. Like, Things that have significance to them in some way...but thats just me
first of all, I'm not sure why it's necessary to mention that one of them is Jewish, or make any comment on race since race and religion contribute absolutely nothing to musical ability.
second of all, the one who raps "really, really fast" is doseone, and he is not jewish.
@nestletreb uuuuuuh thats a pretty dumb statement thinking that music keeps people in ghettos. next time you should go through a ghetto ask them if music is the cause of bad social situations
I didn't say it was a cause, but a perpetuator. Gangsta rap is both a reflection and influence on life. It probably isn't as influential as I made it sound - I'd just rather not support a culture that glorifies violence and misogyny. And I like songs about ants.
Sorry for the confusion. Did I mention that I'm Danish?
Hm, the lyrics in this particular song aren't really very abstract or hard to understand at all. I'm pretty sure they're rapping about (in some cases out of place) examples of life and death they've noticed while on the road in California.
a lot of their observational lyrics like that come from southern Ohio, I believe all three of them are from Cincinnati. if Why? isn't, Dose and Jel are for sure.
doseone's real name is adam drucker, so that sounds jewish to me. still, yoni wolf (why?) is definitely jewish, so if it's 1/3, then it's him. but possibly we're looking at 2/3
great music and great video..quoting dexbitch "lyrics evoke imagery" i like how you expressed the lyrical imagery literally which made it hilarious and made me think about the song as well..
haha i was laughing my ass off throughout this whole video. I *think* clouddeads whole thing was to create a sonic soundscape and use nonsensical lyrics to add to the effect. Their first album had me going "wtf" the entire time but if you took the whole thing as a package it was ambient and hypnotic.
Their lyrics may or may not have meaning, I think its mostly about how the words sound, the texture, the feel, what comes to mind when you hear a word or phrase get across a more surreal, abstract sort of train of thought message. I think these songs are more about the emotional impact and expression then conveying a specific meaning.
i dont mean to take up space i just find it necessary to defend good music when i see that people are being alienated by "weirdness". People thought the fucking internet was weird and now we're all on youtube like a bunch of fucking jack-offs. Don't mean to preach im just making a point about Doseone and shit, great video AbsurdMusic i'd like to see more. Despite my opinion I still have a sense of humor, this video is hilarious!!
The thing about doseone is that he makes music the way he wants to make it, but his expansive vocabulary and agile mind allows for him to rap effectively. His creative abilities would be under utilized if he didn't make the kind of music he does, rather than just normal "indie rock". Everyone is comfortable with the current breed of popular hip-hop, which is all about money, women, drugs, guns, and racial shit. These are all great topics but they get simplified into "bitches, cheddar, gats, etc."
whether or not this song (or any of cLOUDDEAD or doseones work) adhere's to your definition of "making sense" is irrelevant for a multitude of reasons. Prominently, the fact that these lyrics evoke IMAGERY, which is; A. One of many 'poetic devices' for those unschooled youtubers who dont know, and B. a great way to create unique, horrificly beautiful lyrics. The ironic thing is that the creator of this video doesnt even realize he made a great music video for this song for the most part
I think you all who seem to have to find meaning in the lyrics of every song you hear are missing the point. This song is great, along with the whole album "Ten"
This puts most Hip Hop to shame. I can't think of other acts that are that original.

@mydawgisdead It seems to me a bit pretentious at times, but my GAWD, it's amazing. And the whole album ("Ten") never fails to impress. Especially over consecutive listens.

i think all of these lyrics have something to do with their childhood / lives. Like, Things that have significance to them in some way...but thats just me

cLOUDDEAD are so great.
and yeah Why? (the slower, less scratched voice) one is jewish, not dose one.

first of all, I'm not sure why it's necessary to mention that one of them is Jewish, or make any comment on race since race and religion contribute absolutely nothing to musical ability.
second of all, the one who raps "really, really fast" is doseone, and he is not jewish.

Very dada.
Still, I prefer it to "bitches and hos" gangsta shit that just perpetuates a vicious cycle, keeping inner city youth in the ghettos.
But apparently thats 'cause I'm Danish. Us Danes is some weird motherfuckers...

@nestletreb dude have you heard the way you people speak?!
Bayplaces 1 year ago
@nestletreb uuuuuuh thats a pretty dumb statement thinking that music keeps people in ghettos. next time you should go through a ghetto ask them if music is the cause of bad social situations
jumppack1 1 year ago
@jumppack1

Wow
that was an awesome video
I finally now understand why doseone is such a genius.
because of his amazing lyrics
......
Actually I was slightly disappointed
haha
Awesome live!

These sound more like Yoni' than Dose's lyrics. Using alot of abstract imagery. Very... bizarre imagery.

I dunno, but I think you kinda screwed some of the imagery - namely the bit with the rose/antlers.
I'm pretty sure they're talking about that whole "life imitating art / vice versa" question.

Hm, the lyrics in this particular song aren't really very abstract or hard to understand at all. I'm pretty sure they're rapping about (in some cases out of place) examples of life and death they've noticed while on the road in California.
FiNGaZ666 2 years ago 3
a lot of their observational lyrics like that come from southern Ohio, I believe all three of them are from Cincinnati. if Why? isn't, Dose and Jel are for sure.
WhoBuiltTheArk 2 years ago
@WhoBuiltTheArk
I believe Dose is from Idaho and Yoni is from Ohio. I don't know where Jel is from, but he's not in cLOUDDEAD anyway.

it's two of 'em, Jel and Dose. they're in quite a few groups together.

It's not Jel; it's Odd Nosdam.

Right, my fault. I listen to lots of Dose/Jel music and automatically make that pairing a lot XD

doseone's real name is adam drucker, so that sounds jewish to me. still, yoni wolf (why?) is definitely jewish, so if it's 1/3, then it's him. but possibly we're looking at 2/3
ixnay36 2 years ago
both yoni and adam are jewish

great music and great video..quoting dexbitch "lyrics evoke imagery" i like how you expressed the lyrical imagery literally which made it hilarious and made me think about the song as well..

Great song. It makes perfect sense! xD
3isdom 2 years ago
haha i was laughing my ass off throughout this whole video. I *think* clouddeads whole thing was to create a sonic soundscape and use nonsensical lyrics to add to the effect. Their first album had me going "wtf" the entire time but if you took the whole thing as a package it was ambient and hypnotic.
cockroachafro 2 years ago
the lyrics make sense, they're talking about death and decay.. think about it..

iamjezuzchrist 2 years ago
Their lyrics may or may not have meaning, I think its mostly about how the words sound, the texture, the feel, what comes to mind when you hear a word or phrase get across a more surreal, abstract sort of train of thought message. I think these songs are more about the emotional impact and expression then conveying a specific meaning.
Thelaofkazi 2 years ago 7
That's usually how Dose does his stuff. None of his other songs make sense either, you just have to listen to it as a whole, instead of words.
hxbxrt 2 years ago
I do tend to find more distinguishable meaning with his lyrics in his work in 13 & God. Still very abstract though.

POST 3 of 3 read from bottom to top|
i dont mean to take up space i just find it necessary to defend good music when i see that people are being alienated by "weirdness". People thought the fucking internet was weird and now we're all on youtube like a bunch of fucking jack-offs. Don't mean to preach im just making a point about Doseone and shit, great video AbsurdMusic i'd like to see more. Despite my opinion I still have a sense of humor, this video is hilarious!!
dexbitch 2 years ago 2
The thing about doseone is that he makes music the way he wants to make it, but his expansive vocabulary and agile mind allows for him to rap effectively. His creative abilities would be under utilized if he didn't make the kind of music he does, rather than just normal "indie rock". Everyone is comfortable with the current breed of popular hip-hop, which is all about money, women, drugs, guns, and racial shit. These are all great topics but they get simplified into "bitches, cheddar, gats, etc."
dexbitch 2 years ago
that may be the greatest comment ever posted,=this album is landmark. and the best anticon ep in my opinion. reunion???
HanzSygnal 2 years ago
whether or not this song (or any of cLOUDDEAD or doseones work) adhere's to your definition of "making sense" is irrelevant for a multitude of reasons. Prominently, the fact that these lyrics evoke IMAGERY, which is; A. One of many 'poetic devices' for those unschooled youtubers who dont know, and B. a great way to create unique, horrificly beautiful lyrics. The ironic thing is that the creator of this video doesnt even realize he made a great music video for this song for the most part

lol @ the end of the video...guy who posted it doesn't seem to appreciate it that much, but at least he's funny
