i have a white oak bokuto pretty heavy and doesnt get scratched up easily but my bro has natural oak, light, gets alot of dents and junk so somewhere i between those two would be good
Hey I love your style and i'm doing bokken 2, good job and keep going man! This martial arts help me alots with my stress and everything. I'm sure you have the same feeling.
Polypropiléne bokken ? I' dont know this, If it's difficulte to broken, still i going to built one. The wood was broke? It's true...Thanks for this advise.
what sort of bokken would u think is best? like... material wise, i like a few different length swords but the wood is generally crap! u seem to like them too =p so... what would u recommend????
@marcusx15 well, it depends. When you want to have nice flashy performance, simply make some bokken yourself from a light wood. If you want to enhance ur strength order some suburito. To get the feel of Japan buy some oak bokkens and if you want to spar with sb get polypropylene ones cuz they are hard to break.
I generally prefer to use ones made of Red or White oak. As long as you take care of them properly, and don't utterly treat them like crap, they last a long time. I currently use one that I have had for at least 2 and half years, and it doesn't have any chips in it, and we go pretty "all out" when we spar.
A nice show, but with what i learned in kendo practice I have to say you would be dead in a glimpse of an eye. you're to much open, leavin' your body exposed. you swing with your sword alot, so when blocked, the bokuto would jump out of your hand(s). you also need to center the sword, else your wrist, head, ... are exposed. (if enemy sword goes forward and yours point to left/right he be able to move in and attack you and you're to late to center the sword. a centered blade is like a gate...
...dude you do know that none of that wrist twirling shit you're doing will work in actual combat right?...i tried some of that once in kendo practice and broke my wrist. maybe ur just dickin around though
I should post some huge writing on my profile or every vid, or i dunno, that everyone who thinks I believe twirls are useful in combat is a hater or whatever. No offence but, seriously dude, how could you think I'd believe such a thing? During the twirls the blade is turned the way that does not harm an opponent, moreover, wrists are too weak, damn I only do it cuz it looks flashy, for this and only this reason. Do you think practitioners of Korean Kumdo would twirl swords during a combat?
@Omgausername6 kendo is not kenjutsu! it's like comparing modern fencing with renaissance time fencing! those twhirlings obviously don't work in an actual combat, but they show that the guy has a good control of the weapon. this guy is very fast , the strikes are well done and he moves and he moves harmoniously, he's very good! at lest according to my humble opinion.
shut the fuck up! Hes right this kid ahas no form and will probably end up stabbing himself. He twirls the sword around to much, he doesn't bend his knees enough hes just a liability waiting to happen.
Well it looks flashy and certainly has its place in a movie or something, but its lacking in technique (definetly not invincible)! Dont get me wrong im not a master by any means, but i have done alot of training at several schools. I think you could be a good swordsman with proper training, as you have some natural talent for sword control!
(i do like your spining noto, i too learnt to do that from watching 'LoneWolf & Cub', just for kicks as it does look cool!)
dont dis on the screen name i know its gay (mine), sweet bokken it looks sturdy. mine is the cold steel one you have on ur videos, but i know the spinning is pretty cool though :)
i like the tape you put on it, it looks way cool in the negative!
Wow, this is pretty cool. I like your Bokken, It looks like mine ( the grip job on the handle, etc. )Except that mine is a homemade bokken I made myself and it's a Ninjato simulator so it's not curved. And as for haters, just fuck off. I totally agree with this guy. He paid good money on that fuckin sword and it's his property so he can do anything he want with it. His moves are OK, and I think some of you guys that are telling him to attend classes are just all talk. He can kick most of ur ass
And I say this as a fellow sword fanatic, and 30 seconds to Mars fan. And I'm studying to be a film director, so I'm actually a sucker for special effects, but I believe everything has its place. Please, be more modest in your presentation of technique. It will give you greater strength.
Okay, as much as I'd like to say otherwise, the technique here is very decent. There are just a few pompous, frivolous things bothering me to no end. First off: "Invincible"? You're just another suburban punk like me, you've never faced someone who has dedicated their EVERY WAKING SECOND to the sword. Lose the arrogance. Second, The rock music soundtrack. Third, the special effects. Fourth, the hoodie (with hood up in broad daylight and no rain?). Fifth, the constant twirling of the sword.
Yes, you clearly have the skills. I'm glad to see someone like you who actually knows the moves. Other kids just post videos on youtube of them dancing with fake swords and trying to look cool, you know what you're doing. Good job.
A good video and it effectively shows your skills at kata. I will leave just one piece of advice for you: never spin your sword during combat. It loosens your grip too much and you could be disarmed by a novice with proper timing.
tipp... fight again a friend, (or better again anybody how fight profesional) you will lear very mutch... your techniks looks very good but i don't think you can use it realy for a fight!!! think about this idear!!!
well done my friend. Your body movement and foot work are quite good. keep it up man. and don't mind these dumbasses who think they're an athourity on everything. I don't see them making any videos.
ha ha ha..WHILE ITS TRUE Sadoos clearly has NO training with this weapon, You fuckin Clowns insulting him should pretty much go fuck yourselfs..he dosent need your silly as permission to practice ANY FUCKIN WAY he wants..its his shit and he's an American. SO, with one big fuckin aMERICAN FINGER IN THE air...i SAY, DO YOUR FUCKIN THING BRO..
Though I dont agree with how you put it Sadoos, you do have a point and I belive in it fairly strongly. That Martial arts were created by other people before hand, and you as a person have every right to train "free style". I too just purchased a Bokken, and I dont train under anyone.
don't you see how wrong you are, traditional ryuha was created by people who achieve a level of enlightment far superior than yours, man, you believe in god and trust the words writen in the bible, you know, bible was also writen by humans, at least in martial arts they don't lie about no gods or shit
I realize how wrong I'am, of course, but you don't realize how wrong you are, i did not say i created a martial art and established it and you should learn it, let's say people who created kenjutsu and other arts of sword also started waving a stick in a forest. Martial arts did not exist forever. Someone started creating them through a long process and at the beginning it wsn't very good.
Go into a tall field of grass and try to cut the grass (it'll most likely not be easy), and also a very helpful thing is to hang a wooden board by a string from a tree branch that hangs over the ground, and practice on it - practicing this with a shinai would be best, because bamboo doesn't break easily.
thanks. That's a comment really like. Long and specific, good piece of advice. I will try that sort of training, definitely. But when the air becomes warmer :p It is too cold here now ;]
pretty good, but you don't want to stop your sword right after a swing - follow through the attack, and use the momentum from the attack to either add power to the next, or to parry or block the opponent's attack. You have good skills, but it's obvious they haven't been used with a real sword for any real cutting - try practicing with thin branches from a tree (so you don't break a nice bokken).
When it comes to unpleasant stuff on youtube the only thing I pay attention to, it's constructive criticism so be aware that I don't care whatyou say. You are just rude bastard, a brainless hater, that's all. I don't give a f**k if you even pull ur penis out of your nose. I'll delete those comments anyway. I don't need worthless babbling :)
some of us seriously do not have the luxury of finding or affording a good instructor let alone any kind of school for that matter, and if you cant then what? you're just s.o.l?
Shit out of luck. Yeah, I do agree to that. I live in a small town. I like that, you know peace and quiet but no weapon-martial arts is one of the main drawbacks. well, this mindfux0r i simply a hater who wanders around youtube and posts worthless spam, i don't care about him you know. He is able to offend me and I'm able to offend him back, I'll delete that spam of his anyway as i said below.
Then yes, you are SOL. You will always be better off training under the guidance of an instructor. And if indeed there exists no local dojo in the style that you want, that does not permit you to go and make it up yourself. The more you train incorrectly, the worse you will be.
Oh damn, you are so fkn idiot :D You know, Holy Bible says that the God existed forever and will still exist throughout eternity. But damn martial art were created by someone, by fkn ppl. Shit i can't believe how stupid you are, I feel sorry for you. Damn, fuck, shit, I payed for this bloody training sword and I can do whatever I want with it. I can even stuff it in your ass if I want to. Fuck, thick bab eater.
That looks so clean, almost too little "tricking" to be kenvert. (But hey, it looks good, and I care only "enterteining values") But in edition is maybe too much "tricking". (But music is nice.)
hey the. i c yer familiar with the bokken n thatz gd. i also c that what you do is kind of a combination of basic uh.. what do you say movements? plus a bit of juggling with bokken. In doing so, youve left out practicality out like others criticize. dunno whether u learned all the way like that or not, but really gettin it rite will really improve both 'your way' and the way of the sword, which is what uh... 'kendo' is. gdday all.
k so what's ur aim in practicing? i mean if you're training to do stunt work or preformance work- you look excellent- very pretty; if you're looking for practicality (i mean for whatever practicality swords still have) prettiness doesn't go a very long way- usable kenjutsu is very rarely a thing of beauty and more often a thing of efficiency. just me 2 cents
