The flyers of 1997 reminds me of the sens last season: Led by their 1st line, they owned each and every teams they met in the playoffs, all in 5 games but got smoked like a bunch of bitches in the Stanley Cup Finals (mainly because their goalies couldn't get the job done). The differences is that the sens won atleast a game and they flyers had home ice advantage against the wings.

I mean, they had Shanahan, Yzerman, Federov, Konstantinov, Vernon, etc...but you're dead on...it proves that you can't win a cup with only one good line, no matter how dominant it is. After 4 horrible expansion seasons coach Jacques Martin was able to turn things around in just his 2nd year on the job (his 1st full). They improved by almost 40 pts from the previous season. The Senators of 97 were like the Atlanta Thrashers of 2007. All in all 1997 was a successful season.
