imo, after man take a knife into heart should still give signs of life around 10-30 seconds, in series all this people go away imediatly, it's too fast. But i understand, it's only a tv shows wher not all wont see like people dies in unthinking pain, but i think is a good series however
@xddqxse psychotic need to kill, at age 2 he witness his mother cut up with a chainsaw and was sitting in a pool of her blood, which eventually fucked him up
Dexter, i think, represents the little side in all of use that wants to see a criminal burn for what they did, the "animal" inside that doesn't care about the law and wants retribution and punishment for unpunished killers.
i don't think it is fair to say he is a monster. think about it, if you heard of a guy who killed people for no reason and tortured them, then got let of of jail on a technicality, wouldn't you want them to get what he deserves?
My sister just watched this vid and she found it disturbing and she is seriously questioning why the fuck I love this show. I don't think she has a right of saying though, she hasn't even seen one episode just a few clips of him killing people, so yeah I can see where she got the idea from but there's so much other shit going on in the show seriously haha
Vigilantes have to go to prison and Dexter is definitively one. But vigilantes are often seen as heroes and so is he. If he went around killing little old ladies and/or innocents, or if he tortured/raped ppl he would be seen quite differently.
Judged on what he does, it is not very evil by itself. A state executioner does the same thing (for money!).
What makes you say that Dexter is bad is probably a focus on his reasons. He is not doing it for justice. He is a monster.
@Dominian1 Exactly, if he were doing it for justice he would be selfless, but dexter is selfish and kills people to cover up his tracks. That aint heroic, hes as much a killer as the people he kills. Yeah he kills bad guys and reduces their population. Wheres the good in all of that; nowhere to be seen. Death, mutilation, torture; thats all dexter does which makes him no different than his victims. He should be locked up along with the rest of em. And yeah He is a monster
Dexter is a character who views himself as a monster and reminds us over and over again that he has no emotions, but as the show progresses it becomes more and more obvious that he does have some form of humanity, albeit a very damaged and twisted one. Being gradually able to see Dexter's humanity is what makes him interesting and at times sympathetic. He isn't just a one-dimensional monster, he's a hybrid of good and evil, or as he says in one episode, he is a new species
@neyo509 What a stupid fucking opinion. By your logic, every soldier in every army in the world who has ever killed an enemy combatant deserves to go to prison.
Besides, what the fuck are you? like 6-7? it's a lot more complicated than "good guy, bad guy".
@rahagbab Is it really? how can there a be a "kind of good guy" and a "kind of bad guy". The reality is there is no grey area in the law there is only black and white; good and bad. Dexter is killing out of selfish ambitions; he has the need to kill and wants to do it. If he were trying to get rid of criminals for justice sake then that is still bad but its better than having a need to kil. And your language reveals your idiocy in itself. If your so smart try using better words than "fucking."
@neyo509 Though I do agree that my choice of words had not been best suited for an argument on morality and ethics, I must say that I don't believe in such a distinct separation of personality.
@neyo509 I am not agreeing or disagreeing with you... I just like the argument. I boil one part down to death row inmates, do you think they should be forgiven or allowed to live? I agree taking justice into your own hands is criminal too because none of his kills got a fair trial, but please refer to the killing of a pedophile for his quote logic to his reason.
The Song is called "Shadow on the Wall" and the Artist is Mike Oldfield. But it should say that in the youtube info space between the video and the comment section.
He actually thinks about coming clean in the last episode of Season 2, cause he cant kill Doakes. When Doakes asks him if he was thinking about suicide he just answers " No, thats pathetic ". At least thats how I recollect it on the spot.
So thats what the Writers wanna tell us about that issue. In matters of internal logic of the code I would say that the code is a protection and doesnt conceal its selfish purpose of "dont get caught". like : If I go on killing ppl, at least bad ones
Just read this comment again after a while. And I think i have a better grip on this now then before
He factually is the same as his victims. He is intelligent and knows that, so he needs to create a distance in any way. And this exact awareness of being a monster is what he utilizes for that.
Thats made clear in the Leila and Prado murders and in the Tooth Fairy murder in the new season 6.
How he is seen by the world is also covered with the bay harbour butcher dispute and Lundy.
@Dominian1 To say he is "factually the same as his victims" is not entirely true. Many are thugs, drug dealers, perverts and gang bangers. In addition, very few possess his intelligence, strength and skill at killing.
Watch the seasons, youll learn why he does what he does and actually appreciate it. Unless you like murderers running around killing people. Dexter cleans that up as best as he can while channeling his evil making it good. Hes an awesome character, love the show.
Its hard to sympathize with Dexter as a character when you just see the pure evil he really is. Or at least thats how I felt towards the end of cutting the video.
i think dexter is good by killing the really bad ppl but he also is a murderer for killing the bad ppl get it?

I keep on thinking over the show and still keep having thoughts.
