This is cool, and all, but I'd never try it unless I had a keyboard that came specifically advertised as being dishwasher-safe. As it is, I only have a laptop atm, so putting it in the dishwasher sounds like a very bad idea. :)
Funny i have a Mirosoft keyboard n it say never put in water are any dishwasher could damage u keys n comp....if spill clean by hand n dry a week if not work get a new keyboard
3. If youre keyboard is broke, lets say i poured pop on it, You need everything on it. Actually, i have 2 keyboards that broke that way, i just put them in the dishwasher, and in a few days ill see if it works.
Some people want to keep their old keyboard because it's what they're used to, or they like the feel, response, etc. better than a new, different model. Other reasons: sentimental ("it's the keyboard that came with my first Mac!"); and/or they consider it ecological (maybe they're right) to re-use something that can be re-used just by washing it, instead of replaced.
Yes, the membrane layer inside most keyboards isn't always totally sealed, or the seal breaks down after the keyboard has been in use for a while. Older style keyboards that use mechanical keyswitches are even more likely to fail after being washed, since the water carries dust, etc. into the keyswitches, and once it's in there, it's not always easy to remove, even with a good electronic spray cleaner with a straw nozzle (you remove they keytop, and spray into the opening around the keystem).
Hehe, this worked on my wireless keyboard actually xD

1) If you remove the keys... put them in a cleaning rack WITH A LID!!!!
You are VERY lucky that they didn't melt!
2) Man oh man! Do you use WAY to much dishwasher detergent! Half of the compartment is all you need!

there is a shorter way. only the actual buttons get dirty. just wash them insted. or just leave them on. and just cover the USB end.

i would just leave the keys on there and take out all the wires and eletronic board and just wash the plastics

Thats pointless for a few reasons,
1. Good Luck Getting it back together.
2. That Most Definitly voids the warranty.
3. If youre keyboard is broke, lets say i poured pop on it, You need everything on it. Actually, i have 2 keyboards that broke that way, i just put them in the dishwasher, and in a few days ill see if it works.
