And yeah, I am suggesting that a movie doesn't have to cost $200 million to be good. I think Bakshi's animation was pretty good (for the most part). Not saying Jackson's sucked, I just prefer cartoons to CGI-fests.

I'll say this about the portrayal of Aragorn in this film... from 5th grade (when this movie came out) until the Peter Jackson movies, whenever I read the books I was hearing John Hurt speaking all of Aragorn's dialogue. (John Hurt is the guy doing the voice... same guy who had the first Alien hatch out of his chest)

IMHO, many Aragorns pre-Viggo Mortensen sound rather arrogant, no doubt because they attempted to make their voices sound kingly and commanding.

Examples I can name include the 1981 BBC's Aragorn (fortunately this only manifests itself in some bits of dialogue; in others Robert Stephens does a decent job) and Rankin-Bass' Aragorn come to mind. But that's just me.
