@whytedog - HMNZS Canterbury looks like a transport ship or hospital ship with heli deck, does Canterbury have any weapons to engage or defense it self?
It has a remote controlled 25mm Bush Master cannon which is pretty much the same as fitted to the Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV) as used by the NZ Army, Australian Army and USMC but this weapon is not radar guided as a low rate of fire so would only be effective against surface targetse and would have limited use against aircraft as well as being completely useless against incoming missiles. Also has 2 manual fifty cals. The 2 Seasprites could carry Maverick ATMs or torpedos

@luisaviation Since the 70s Denmark and Canada has been in some sort of diplomatic conflict over who has to control Hans Island - a very tiny island in the northwest passage which stratigic importance - we both claim the island. But recently the conflict has been put aside because of the arctic tension. Canada have trouple with their soverignity and Denmark and Russia claim the north pole. So Denmark and Canada has made a cooperation pact in the arctic.

Joonte i dont understand swedish, so im replying in english; These ships ARE stealt, look at the angle of the sides, it's meant to deflect the radar beam. And these ships wont go down fast, in case of war. And when the new danish frigates are coming next year, it's basically the same hull, just 1 deck shorter. Also stealt technology, and Area Air Defence capability. wich means, that anything within 200 km, wont survive, if we dont want it to. Airplanes, missiles, ships, birds. everything !
A ship like that would never stand a chance against a Gotland class Submarine. I just think its stupid to create ships, When its no idèa to use it in war, If Russia decided to attack or something,

Its a supportship. It was built for a purpose. Not to wage war on the Russians or any other imaginary enemy. It is the cheapest and most effective weapon against eg. pirates. If the "Russians" decide to get hostile no ship will be effective anyway. So think again kiddo.
I my self have been sitting with Absalon's radar, and i can tell you for a fact, that the Smart-S radar covers 135 Nautical Miles in each direction, which roughly correlates to 200 KM. NOT 400 KM. get your facts straight.

The navy also wants to build a RO/RO refueling/hospital/cargo ship to replace our 2 vintage oilers

yes it`s a very fine ship, and right now it`s on a UN mission and work as command ship in Task Torce 150 to protect international ships against pirates from Africa`s east coast, somalia etc.

Ja, det hjælper lidt at se den i højere kvalitet, men jeg tror det største problem er farven (blåt i blåt) og ikke mindst skrifttypen. De er begge med til at man, eller jeg i hvert fald, læser langsommere. Og så forsvinder teksten for hurtigt for mig. Men ellers fed vid.
