God Bless all Firemen . Very few people would go into a burning building to save some one while risking their own lives to do so . God Bless Billy McCarthy my he rest in peace with the lord .
i think it is a great thing to have the Pipes and drums at a Funeral and what a stiring piece to have played .Amazing grace is a beautiful piece and should start and finish with a solo piper its the touch of class and respect. I dont know you but
I'm also a Firefighter of 22.5 years and a former piper. I admire the dedication the eastern bands have over so many in the west. I also like how the lone piper played the final verse and walked away from the ceremony, very nice touch! My respects to the fallens family
I have been a firefighter/EMT for 24 years. The sound of pipes allways brings tears to my eyes. No matter how tough you think you are, This sound means another "brother" has gone to answer his final alarm. I give the mans family ( fire or otherwise) my condolances. God Be with you.
Thank you for posting this. It is very touching to hear this again. Thank you to the Boston City Fire Dept. They came to Vermont to Help us honor our LODD Fallen member just this past summer. You are all amazing yourselves.
WOW..that was truly powerful. I live just outside of Boston on the North Shore, and see almost everyday the Peabody FD Engine 4 screaming down my street. I always wish them well and pray for their safe return from every call. And for those that don't return, RIP.
my dad was the walk away piper and upon reveiw he said the band didnt sound well because of the fact that there were to many people there that aren't used to playing with each other, not to knock any ones skill level, theyre all better than me. I'm going to missseeing the Hde park parade at Billy's house, it just wouldnt be the same with out him
Please thank your Da for me, ForBoston523. Even though the band sounded challenged, the spirit was there, and in the end, that is what matters most. As long as the love warms through, even sour notes can be the most endearing.
My mum passed on wednesday while i was away moose hunting...as a celt.and a firefighter..i felt i had let her down..they kept her for me to say goodbye until yesterday...when i made it home after 19 hrs driving.on friday we found out my wife and i are 5 weeks pregneant...pipes will play my mum up to heaven...one soul leaves and another arrives to take it's place...Say hi to mom for me billy.....
whoa....this song shook me up (tearfully and scaringly) i was reading comments, and when the drummers started tapping , i thot it was machines gun i was like WTF! no way someone popped them!

Gee, thanks for recording right next to the drummers. =| Oddly enough, it's the bagpipes which play the tune.
