  • Down with Christianity! ...Ironically my name is Christian :P

  • Hallo! Jeg heter Wolfgang og jeg elsker øl!!

  • Comment removed

  • This is one of the best songs ever! Magnificent!

  • Is another Viking type band? Either way there good.

  • skjhgifhasfis HOLD THE HEATHEN HAMMER HIGH xjmvbakvbdsjhvskjdhbvkadjhbvsdkjhbc HOLD THE HEATHEN HAMMER HIGH sdjbskadgsjfbdhfsdh. That's basically what it's like when I try to sing this. My vocal cords are not nearly as epic as that of Tyr's.

  • @Stonegolem42 It isn't actually pronouncing "miolnur"?

  • @IUVENTIU Mjiolnir is pronounced "Me ol near"

  • I think im contradicting myself. Im christian but I like tyr. lol.

  • @SpikeTHEchiken no prob, just roar, smash your own head and sing with us ;)

  • @SpikeTHEchiken Your beliefs having nothing to do with what music you like. And Christianity contradicts itself in virtually every manner, so it's nothing new to you either way.

  • @SpikeTHEchiken i used to be a christian just like you... then i took a hammer to the head.

  • @SuperSelfproclaimed Your well on your way to your seat by God's Throne.

  • @SuperSelfproclaimed AHahhahahaha!

  • my "christian" family thinks im some weird pagan anti christ for listening to this

  • "Down the wayward way so far faring strangers stray"--> tongue twister! ;)

kinda hard to sing that as fast as he does lmao

  • I'm proud of being Faroese!

  • Be right back, I need to go get my wild blackened blade.

  • They chop the cross because the beliefs of Christianity like meekness and natural sin were in polar conflict with the Norse religion values of Strength, Wisdom, and Self Sufficience. This conflict was one of the main causes for Vikings to invade Christian territories and plunder churches. There is still a lot of animosity among modern pagans for the forced revision and erasure of Norse histories. There is so little remembered about the old traditions because Christians distorted the histories.

  • @sathdk79 Another major factor was the fact that Xians refused to trade with anyone that wasn't Xian, thus causing a tremendous problem for the Norsemen. After all, everyone's gotta eat, and sometimes the hunt and the farm just isn't quite enough.

  • I don't believe all this norse stuff, but this is quality shit!

  • Wtf

  • @panajiotisk The vikings didn't really have much against Islam, the singer is Heri Joensen, and why are you watching this video then?

  • @panajiotisk This is, without a doubt, the most retarded comment I've read today. You win.

  • @panajiotisk You realize that Islamic extremists would probably WANT that image of Mohammed destroyed in the first place. Their work would be done for them and the band would be in no danger.

  • @panajiotisk well a short history lesson for the young padawan ;)

why they'd destroy the christian cross ^^ cuz most of the lands they invaded in those time were christians and some of the most renown deeds was an attack on the defenseless monastery on the shores of england... and yes it was christian ;) so no mohammed there ;)

PS: the Viking no longer exist.... only their beliefs and principals but even those are almost gone cuz most ppl that call themselves vikings are mostly vegan pussies

  • @maxkinslayer I think they destroy the cross because the christians tried to convert northern people to christianity (also with violence). I guess the burning cross is a symbol of their antipathy towards that and christian ideas at all

  • @LastPartycream Sorry, They attacked the cross because it was there. Thats what Berserks do.

  • @MrMay123

then they would also burn the ship they stand on because its there.

    sry that makes no sense

  • @maxkinslayer We are not almost gone, neither are our beliefs and principals(google Asatru or Odinism). Most of us are NOT "vegan pussies".... besides our female parts are better than males parts there for calling us "vegan pussies" is not that bad.

  • @panajiotisk

btw mohammed was inspired by the cristians. They just show us that they stick to an much older path than these today. Either cristians and muslims arent that different in their basics. Second, you dont always need an big composion to create a great song. It just has to feel good. And yes this song makes me feel good

  • @panajiotisk lol when did Islam attack our land? Or try to convert us?

  • My boyfriend is always singing this and this videos appeared in my recomendentions and now I see why lml

  • pretty good stuff

  • they are good but amon amarth is the supreme in viking metal

  • My right leg aproved this song

  • i suddenly wanna go get my chain-mail armor and a axe and go rape and plunder some english villages

  • I plan to get a chain with all the religions symbols of my ancestors. So I can wear the Heathen Hammer, Cross, Celtic Dragon and the Star of David all at once

  • my buddy Blade linked me to this track yesterday... It's so fucking awesome!

  • WOOOT! A bass player that doesn't "pick-it" \m/ finger bass all the way

  • Great Video

  • This chorus sounds like what would happen if Devin Townsend had a baby with a mighty Viking maiden, which is, of course, awesome.

  • FUCK CHRISTIANISM!

  • @UnderTorture Don't forget brother, it was conquerors who did that. You need to realize that the ones who tried to empty the halls of Valhalla were not true Christians, my father is an example of a true Christian, believes in Jesus yet does not hate or condemn anyone for their religious beliefs, political beliefs or sexual orientation. Am i a Christian? No, I am a spiritual Jew with a Heathen ancestry, so yes i am Heathen, we all worship the same Divine in different forms.

  • @TheEDBShow

if you mean that we all worship a divine that appears in different forms i would ask myself why that divine hates his/her/its other forms...

and if you mean that we all have a different kind of worshiping one divine...

...is not believing in him/her/it a kind of worshiping?

  • @LastPartycream i dont believe it hates anyone or it's other forms. I believe that people took it the wrong way and people hate it's different forms. Not we all, Atheists do not worship or believe in it, and i'm pretty sure it does not care.

  • @TheEDBShow

I think in every big religion, god creates the human race but hates the ones who do not believe in him, do not follow his rules or even believe into a "wrong" god, which is kind of senseless as he could have just created them as "better servants".

So I want to know in what god you believe, as it sounded like you did believe in one.

  • @LastPartycream Define "big religion."

  • @Stonegolem42

the big four: christianity, islam, hinduism and judaism

  • Damn this is some good shit, reminds me of Turisas \m/ >.< \m/

  • @kitty5104 I'll join ye on that;)

  • @kitty5104 I am with you, brother!

  • Pizza

  • @Entrayalicous I did, considering that in only really snowed like 3 times where I live in Scotland, but yeah thanks for asking :)

  • Hold that heathen hammer high and smash some Christian heads!!!!

  • @kitty5104 u mad? i am christian and i like this song, you dont need to be viking to like viking metal songs

  • @MsSilithius for the most part, tyr (and fans/ like minded individuals) directs their disdain for Christianity to the actions of the ones in the past (i.e. the crusades) and the smaller groups of modern day that have the mentality of "we are the one and only truth, follow us or be destroyed, etc."

Realistically most people don't have any issue with the belief but more so towards the more zealous followers

  • @MsSilithius that being said, I am not christian but those are my thoughts on it

  • i hear this song playing -> stand up for my personal anthem

  • these guys rocks!!

  • Why fight about religion in an Týr video?

It's Týr brothers!!! =D Be happy!

  • @DestroyeOfSense000

    That's ok, I hate Christianity :)

  • @ScottishExecute Christians have done terrible things over the years, including persecute pagans, Jews, and Muslims. But pagans were not morally upright by far. Many tribes that practiced this form of paganism raided and pillaged villages and sold men, women, and children into slavery. Of course, Christians did the same thing. For the most part, no civilization or religion produces better men than others. We all really want the same thing.

  • @DestroyerOfSense000 Keep in mind they were for different reasons.Chrisitans at the core believed that everyone HAD to be Christian &they pretty much needed to create the largest empire in the world based off this Christian way of life they forced it on others & slaughtered millions of people in mass genocide. The Pagans of the time raided for rescources &for the prospering of their kin. Remember that the Viking image is blown out of proportion & very few Norseman partook!!!

  • @heathenhammers You're right. Very few Norsemen were actually Vikings. Many more were traders, fishermen, and the like. But you also have to realize that not all Christians were like that. Many, especially clergy and nobles, wanted to subdue other faiths, but most Christians couldn't care less about that kind of thing.

  • @heathenhammers When you say that Christians, "forced it on others & slaughtered millions of people in mass genocide" you are unfairly attributing the actions of the then Catholic church (which then had real political and military power) on to Christianity as a belief system and to individual Christians, which is an unwarranted and illogical conclusion. By the way, there many wrongful killings, yes, but no, "mass genocide" in the same sense as the holocaust.

  • @heathenhammers Also, conversion in Scandinavia was a long and gradual process. The Catholic church never systematically killed Scandinavians who didn't believe. They sent missionaries from Bremen, built some churches and dioceses and over time, the culture changed. There was no large scale effort by the Church to stamp out paganism by force.

  • @beerad0 Part of the reason for this, I believe, is the fact that by the time the conversion process was gaining momentum, kingdoms such as that of Norway and Sweden, which were nominally Christian, ruled over all the Norse pagan lands. Any violence committed by a foreign power would be war against those kingdoms, and I doubt any state, even Rome, wanted to start a war with a very powerful kingdom for the sake of converting villagers. This was especially true because the nobility had converted.

  • @DestroyerOfSense000 I say you speak the truth of it. I tend to think that it wasn't just a matter of religiousness like we have today. There was a much stronger sense of survival in those times and they did those things to mete out a living. "Peaceful" religions still to this day practice slavery. "Christianity does not stand or fall on the way Christians have acted throughout history or are acting today. Christianity stands or falls on the person of Jesus, and Jesus was not a hypocrite."

  • @acrossthebifrost I wholeheartedly agree with you. Jesus of Nazareth was the most powerful, just, and truly free man I've ever heard of. Buddha may tie him in my rankings, but even so, he's tied for first. So many Christians have corrupted Jesus's original message over the years that many of us today think that Christianity is a religion of corrupt arrogant liars. In some cases that is very true. But I used to go to a Catholic church, and the pastor was a great man with much justice and love.

  • I have my Hammer 24/7 NO ONE will ever change that.

  • Religion doesn't change the quality of the music, it changes the perspective on the music. This is good music whether you are Christian or not.

  • If you want a true Norse song, even if it's not metal. Corvus Corax: Ragnarock

  • Quotation marks fail at the beginning in the annotation to the bottom....

  • i suck cock

as i listen to this song

  • best!

  • this is great music

  • I want to get a Mjollnir!

  • @RaydAsatru Its easy to get one these days! Hail folks! Wassail!

  • fuck shirts

  • these guys are true fuckin heroes

  • I have Mjölner around my neck all the time, isn't that standard? :S

  • every time i play skyrim i sing this song in my head

  • :) \,,,/

  • :megusta:

  • Eigo miskunn. Saka to another sál. TÝR rocks.

  • it's actually relatively easy to do an umlaut on some laptops.

  • I used to listen to some shitty music until I took a Mjöllnir to the face.

  • @ganjajr3 Unless you somehow have an umlaut key on your keyboard, you're a douche.

  • @Stonegolem42 It is written with an umlaut my friend..

  • @ChinoSouthsideX3 So you admit you're a pretentious douche.

  • @Stonegolem42 I admit that you don't know how to write Mjölnir. Take this from a European, dumbass.

  • @ChinoSouthsideX3 Take it from an Anglo-Saxon heathen who's been studying germanica for a good while that going to the trouble of copy-pasting an umlaut makes you a pretentious douche. Ragr.

  • @Stonegolem42 First, germanica is not a word. Second, I do have an umlaut on my keyboard, and third, it is written that way. Only in the Marvel comics, Mjölnir is written without an umlaut, which already tells me where you have 'studied' your so called 'germanica'. You're full of shit.

  • @ChinoSouthsideX3 It's a perfectly acceptable way to describe pan-Germanic history, religion, and culture. Next you'll be trying to tell me that Judaica isn't a word.

Your insistence that I don't know how to spell Mjolnir is silly.

  • @ganjajr3 Your a smart guy haha. Nice XD

  • @ganjajr3 it's not A Mjollnir, there is only one!

  • @ganjajr3 AHAHAHHAHA!

  • you know a band is good when you forget they're musicians

  • @guitar0wnz What, they are musicians? :D

  • @BVBmoray maybe it's just me but I forget they're musicians when I watch this video or even hear their music because I'm so pulled into the atmoshpere

  • @guitar0wnz Yeah, it should be ironically. I wanted to say that I feel the same :)

  • @guitar0wnz That makes no sense.

  • @Eq2fanforlife it can only not make sense to someone that lacks the ability to absorb an atmosphere created by music

  • Does anyone else think that this song fits both the Legend of Zelda or Skyrim?

  • @SecretShotgun I mean "and Skyrim?".

  • You have to be a fucking tard...or non Scandinavian to not enjoy this shit! Hail Oden, swing Gongnir!

  • Any one else want the sword of Surtur

  • @htie96 nope i want odens spear^^

  • Heri is the best viking metal vocals ever, Every other I hear actually suck, the worst I hear was the vocal for amon amarth

  • @Martyfriedman001 amon amarth is melodic death...

  • @Martyfriedman001 johan hegg is one of the most badass singers of metal in general! don't say he sucks, just because you don't like growling!

viking metal always takes growling btw, týr is like the only exeption...

  • @NiggeliNG growling is NOT singing, and I have never heard johan hegg singing so I think he sucks:) he may be a good growler I don't know or care:)

  • @Martyfriedman001 of course growling (often refered to as guttural singing) is singing, you moron!

  • @NiggeliNG yeah hes good at growling then,. but I think that kind singing sucks, some bands have vocals that sings normally mostly, and then some part growl , I think that's cool, but when its true a whole song it kinda sucks.

  • @Martyfriedman001 your opinion, i can't change that. the thing with growling is that you either like or you don't. but let's be honest, bands like amon amarth or ensiferum would totally suck if they used clean vocals...

i myself used to hate growling, i couldn't stand it, but when i first heard thousandfold by eluveitie it started to change, and now i really like it. you never know, maybe you'll also have such an experience someday

  • @NiggeliNG yeah maybe

  • @NiggeliNG well I really like some slipknot songs, I listen to Corey taylor stuff since I was 7 years old, and I really like the vocal in murder dolls:P

  • lol both down there. I was thinking the same when i startet the playlist!

  • Not normally a fan of this music, but this is amazing. Playing Mount & Blade Warband to this is great.

  • @SackSean ou say right!Play the mount and blade while listen this masterpiece

  • Merry Metalmas!

  • Vikings back to Life, SCOL!

  • happy getting present because before 2000 years some random guy was born

  • Vikings must have invented a magical way to run electricity though amps, which were part of the overall design of their long boats.Very crafty!

  • @Mudvelum Actually, Vikings possess the ability to play electric instruments without the use of amplification, you don't see it here but they're also capable of generating pretty awesome light shows.

  • This isn't Viking Metal. This is Epic Metal.

  • I listened to this song with a sandwich, and the goddamn thing is still a sandwich!!!!!!!!

  • Best song, live for TYR!

  • My snake listened to this song.

    hes still a snake.

Because snakes can only hear really really low bass.

But seriously, being a snake is pretty metal.

  • @1callforthepriest1 and I'm just sittin' here in my Iron Maiden shirt. I adore a lot of genres. Pirate, this, everything.

  • \m/

  • Surprised. The only religious "argument" on this is about people getting Týr and Thor mixed up.

And remember children, hold ANY heathen hammer high!! \m/

  • i were my heathen hammer with pride

  • seriously.... how could anyone get Thor and Tyr confused??? Tyr was apparently the original Germanic All-Father , and was honored before Odin was honored. Originally his character was more complex , and he was probably a wizard poet aswell as warrior god at first. Later when Odin became the wizard poet All-Father Tyr became associated almost entirely with battle, bravery and victory. His consort Zisa is the Germanic goddess of justice, law and order. The lady who holds the scales of Justice.
