  • Bye :D

  • did you lose your guns in the hurricanes?

  • hmmmm, i've always heard you don't want to store gas in these because of the static electricity.

  • there are times in emergency when you need to and do

  • I would use this for fuel just leave 10% empty for outage in the event the liquid expands. Also use a fuel stabilizer if you intend to store for periods longer than 30 days. Ask anyone that owns a motorcycle about this. I usually will run my lawn mower dry prior to storing the engine for winter same goes for a generator when you are finished with it drain the fuel and run it till it quits unless its a diesel if it is a diesel you are of as long as it isnt biodiesel that has a shelf life.

  • Hope you made it through.

My only thought is I would mark the containers clearly as fuel containers- blue is kinda the international standard for potable water. *laughs*

  • actually the color for water is grey, blue is for kerosene, red is for gas, yellew is for diesel, and green is for oils

  • water is grey or tan

  • thats what i said, grey

  • How did you get through the storm? Hope all is OK. I've been away for a while and not had a chance to get to the site for a bit. Hope to be back soon. I enjoy your site a lot Kev!

Getting back to the storm, it brought rain clear up here to Iowa and then on into Canada. Amazing that something that starts by Africa can have such an impact on life elsewhere. God & mother nature at work I guess.

  • 16 gallons of almost anything, let alone water, is very heavy. What is that, like 125 lbs?

  • Maybe about 75 - 90 pounds. Gasoline is lighter then water.

  • Water is 8.34 pounds per gallon x 16 = 133.44 pounds

  • Water is 8lbs a gallon

  • God we don't need this asshole (Gustav) I don't do drugs but I think Im going to stay in the clouds for this one

  • Watch your guns too Kev! Remember the Katrina gun confiscating boneheads! Just cause you're in Texas don't mean the police won't try it there too!

  • What do you need the ammo for? Just curious...

  • looters

  • Oh...I'm from Canada so never thought of that...I hope you guys make out ok and the storm loses strength so it doesn't do much damage...

  • If for some reason things shut down for a while ammo and a reliable weapon can provide you food, protection and a bartering tool. Better to have more than less...........lots more!!!!!!!!!

  • How long does fuel keep octane? whats the shelf life? Diesel?

  • For these kinds of questions, you should visit the website.

  • what kinda plastic is that. are they good for drinking water or gray water? right now i'm storing gray water in Gallon milkjugs & drinking in 5 gall camp jugs & cases bottled

  • I thought it was a bad idea to use plastic containers for fuel. Wouldn't it eat through the plastic?

  • Do you own any gas cans? They are usually plastic.

  • I have only the older metal ones. I know that they make plastic ones but I though there was an additive to the plastic that made it resistant to being eaten away. And that regular plastic wouldn't last. Or am I wrong? If I am then I'm happy I've been corrected.

  • i think gas only eats though metal

    but i could be wrong

  • No I have had gas eat through a plastic water bottle before. I only put it in there cuz I had to drain gas from my carburetor.

  • and glass? Acid is kept in glass.

  • thats probably because they're more bio-degradeable nowadays

  • if gas eats though metal then how in the hell do are gas tanks in the older cars hold up there metal hahahaha

  • good luck!

  • good stuff.

  • When is it going to arrive. I hurt it was gonna hit Florida.

  • Im getting ready for gustav too. cant buy ammo @ walmart till after it hits! Be careful looters may try to rob for essencialls. My hi point will be on my hip for a week or so after!

  • i bought some when that sucker first was at hispaniola

  • I don't live there. I live in AZ but I have plenty of ammo. A bit over 20,000 rounds and several loaded magazines and sealed and stored in ammmo cans w/ dessicant. I even got a couple sealed military spam cans. And 3 "assault rifles". Not a whole lot but it will do unless all out war breaks out where I live. But it's always good to stockpile a couple thousand rounds just in case. And have at least an ak47 or ar15.

I wish you all the best. Hope is doesn't turn into katrina part II...

  • You should already have your ammunition in place.
