The use of deceit to promote infidelity between a husband and a wife. The promise of power and wealth to seduce and influence a leader to save a dying belief system. The use of disguise & misrepresentation to promote incest and to elicit an unholy union between a brother and a sister, in a most unclean endeavor to nascent an abomination to God, man, nature, and science, and place the unholy offspring on the throne as a king.
Such things are not the way to spiritual & personal excellence.
Scottish Linage and Proud. We killed the Giants! The Abomination of Desolation and when they come down from the sky we are going to kill more and more along with the Whore of Babylon.

I am Pagan who practices Goddess Worship, and even I don't think Christianity is a bad/mean religion just bad followers. I just wish everyone accept and/or tolerate each other and our differences.
wow, this has got to be one of the better movies I've seen in quite some time! I can't even imagine what would've become of Britain and our world had history not taken the course it did. Although I'm not wiccan, I am pagan and only wish the mainline, hateful, and vengeful forms of Christianity hadn't taken power. It really does make one wonder what our world would be like now had the pre-Christian pagan religions been allowed to flourish.
Withcraft in the form of Wicca is the fastest growing religion in America. Some say that within a decade it will be the 3rd lasgest spiritual practice in America. Paganism is also quickly growing in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.
@Duskandtwilight All Gods are but One God. And all Goddesses but one Goddess. For there is only one truth: the Divine Spirit within us all. The God of the Christians and the God of the Pagan folk are the same God. One day all may learn the truth. You cannot hold back the truth forever, although Lord and Lady know you've tried. But the Old Religions are returning. Wicca is the fastest growing worship in the US and Paganism grown around the world. The truth will be known. All things in time.
I can't believe that the message here is that the two religions can live on together.. it should be that religion ruins people's lives. whether it is christian or pagan or whatever. they are continuously manipulated by both religions and yet at the end instead of drawing a logical conclusion they are sad because they abandoned the goddess and then she joins the nunnery. ughh.
My dear child, you have much to learn of religion in general. First of all, the Old Religion is really NOT a religon at all. As for Wicca, it is an INVENTION of a religion by ONE man. Gerald Garder, who coined the term, "Wicca", and invented the religion in the 1950's. Wicca is old Engish, meaning "one who bends", as in energy, magic, manipulating such energy to suit HIS needs. Yes, HIS. Wicca is the masculine, Wicce is the feminine for the same. Further, they are prounounced...
really. what exactly do you think a religion is? because I see it as simply a set of beliefs and rules about how the universe works. They worshiped the goddess so in my book that equals religion. And if you don't think it was a religion, what exactly do you think it was. And if the goddess simply took on a new incarnation in the form of the virgin mary does that make catholicism not a religion also? But ultimately we're just arguing semantics here.
The point is that institutions whether called a religion or witchcraft or whatever result in the hurt and manipulation of people, and their willful submision to it. How can this be a good thing? Why do we let other people tell us what is good and right when we can see the results are hurtful to both ourselves and the ones we love? That was my point. All the words and where they came from are irrelevant to me. Go beyond the words and find the meaning in them.
...further, they are prounounced, "witchah", and "witchay". Hence, the prounciation for the word 'witch'. Which also comes from the words, "wick" as in candle, magic, magus, magi, magician, and on and on.
As for Morgaine, she did not join the Nunnery. And it is a Convent, to be precise. "Coven", 'convert', 'covenant', etc...
She sought refuge there, as did many then. It was perfectly normal. Further, her mother was the Reverend Mother Superior, joining the "New" religion...
...joing the "New" religion of Christianity, brought to Britian by the Saxons, (modern Germany now), to 'purge' herself of her self proclaimed 'sins' of having a part in Gorlois death. And she would only find such forgiveness in Glastonbury. Thus she converted. The Goddess was never abandoned, she had taken on a new incarnation in the form of the Virgin Mary, just like the Virgin Huntress, Artemis/Diana. Witchcraft is NOT a religion. Wicca is. Now go to bed. Nite Nite...
Thanks for uploading it -love the movie!! Such a great and epic story but the book is as usual better, theres too much missing in the movie... nevertheless so good!
by far the best of the king arthur movies is "excalibur". by the way, who exactly were the anglos and the saxons? i think i learned briefly of these people in grade school, but i don't quite remember. i know the francs were the people we call the french to day, and i also know england was invaded by the scandinavians. but i can't recall who the saxons and anglos were. thanks for any help with this.
@qwyzl: The Saxons were a Germanic people from what is now southern Denmark and northwestern Germany, who invaded Britain after the Romans have left it (the Romans weren't mentioned in this mini series, only their church was) and ruled it until 1066, when the Normans invaded the country. They are some times also called Anglons, from which the country England and the language English got their names. Because yep, it was their language, which gradually became modern English.
I'm Wiccan but my family is Catholic, and I was named after the Virgin Mary. I always resented being named after the mother of a God I had been forced to worship and whose Church denied me, but now I can see how she is just another face of the Goddess. Little do they know. =)
@cutewitch772: You shouldn't at all have resented being named after Mary. She was the closest you could get a goddess for many centuries, and she helped many people, especially women, when they needed her. I also think you can find many good things in Christianity, which you seem to have missed.
@Furienna It's all about how it is taught. The Church has largely been rude to my family, denied me, would not welcome me from the start. Of course I resented it. I do not resent the belief as much as I do what people have done with it. Luckily not all Christians are like that. And as I said, I've come to embrace the name.
@cutewitch772 well it's not ecxactly like this.....it's about who you believe in actually. there is only one God. it's just that he has many forms. i am a christian. and i believe in my God. you are something else and you believe in your God. it's not who you believe in that matters. it is just to believe. truly believe. and Church doesn't deny. the ones that deny are the priests. don't pay attention to them. Jesus loves everybody christian or not
@mariatvd7 I appreciate the sentiment, but it was the establishment and the congregation as a whole, not just the priests. I know that Jesus loves everyone; his people do not all follow his example as closely as you do. You're one of the good ones.
@cutewitch772 thanks..it's really nice of you to say. I hope you are right. you know the first christians were based on love and there are still some that love and wanna do good and those people would never deny you or everybody that is not christian. I am not Catholic I believe in Orthodoxy and these days it's really hard to believe in God. I mean truly believe. but if you do it doesn't matter who is your God because love is in you heart. might sound weird but that is how i feel. =)))
@cutewitch772 Oh, they DO know. They were the ones that blended true, biblical christianity with pagan idolatry. The catholic people may not have a clue, but the clergy does know that the catholic Mary (and not the biblical, historical mother of Jesus) is a false goddess
@godislove010 That's certainly not how they teach it. I am growing increasingly aware of just how much Christians do not include Catholicism among them.
@cutewitch772 Indeed. As bible christians we believe we should never even think of praying to anyone other than the Holy Trinity: The Father, the Son & the Holy Spirit. 1 God, 3 divine persons, or trinitarian monotheism. Catholicism will never teach or even acknowledge that they have mixed parts of the Bible with paganism. But history shows us that is the case. Especially when we consider the fact that early christians did not have altars, images, prayers to saints, etc.
LOL the fight scene was the pinnacle of the movie and you couldnt download it? No worries, power of youtube... youtube.com/watch?v=imWx5QkXz3w Thats the entire last battle in 480P. watch that then go back to this part.
This movie is a movie to learn something. If you had read the book, the world is going to change for you. The book is better than the movie. A important message is inside both.
Did you know that Marion Zimmer-Bradley (the writer of this and more books) was a priestess of the oldest sisterhood of celtic kind in Europe? After her dead in 1999 they made the movie.
I think Mrs. Bradley has knew a lot about the old way and wrote it down in her books.
I love this. It has got to be one of the best of the many Arthurian lengend interpretations. I think everyone in the end realised they'd all done something; they'd all had a part to play in all the downfall of Avalon.
It was nice to see Morgaine as the nice one for once, instead of being painted as the evil woman as she usually is.
This version is the most believable one Ive seen. Ive always loved morgain, she always ended up the "bad guy" in other versions. In reality I do think she loved her brother and would have died to save him.
I loved this movie. It's probably the most dignified arthurian movie made, whereas most focus the lightning bolts merlin hurls.. Much of the mysticism in this was psychological (and the 'magic' they DID show wasn't over the top, and minimal to keep interest)
The characters were three dimensional (except perhaps mordred and to an extent, morgause), had well-intertwined storylines, and played fitting parts in the story. Though I've yet to see an 'amazing' interpretation of mordred in any film.
In the book, the ending is much sadder. Arthur is dying in Morgaine's arms as she finally confesses her love for him. Arthur tells her how young and beautiful she looks, and how he will always see the goddess in her face. Arthur asks, "Morgaine, you will not leave me again, will you?" Morgaine kisses him and tells him, "I will never leave you again, my brother, my baby, my love." Then Arthur dies in her arms.
hmm, the virgin mary. Like many others, I wounder about her. So many tells about her the wise. hmm this rebrings back that question, Who was she really?
@Asharian A human woman, a queen, a goddess... If it's true that she gave birth to Jesus being a virgin, then she is also his Cosmic soulmate. Virgin births happened throughout Antiquity, it means that the father is also the son (she is made pregnant by the spirit).
I love the end (apart from Arthur's death). It shows how the pagan culture was adopted into Christian culture whether they want to admit it or not. And the ending was right, some of us still continue to bring the Mother Goddess back to who she once was and still is. Thanks for uploading. Great movie.
@sexinesswithfangs I think the Pagan and Christian religions include one another, but I also think that they are not what they're depicted in this movie. In this movie, I don't want to believe in either religion, because they are full of manipulation, murder and hypocrisy. Especially belief in sacrifice, or that life is not relevant unless you serve a god/goddess... Remember the Andromeda series? The Sun avatar believing life was insignificant was actually the Abyss (we would call it the Devil)
@sexinesswithfangs Well, I believe that it doesn't matter whether it's YouTube or any other site, I should strive to post intelligent responses because then I'm not wasting my time, and I can grow. :)
Actually, it exists xD I think that youtube doesn't want me to put the link on here, because it's giving me some problems -.-'' Anyway, some time ago you could watch it on Italia 1 u.u
This movie is so shit compaired to the book. The book may be long, but for anyone who likes this movie, READ THE BOOK!! It's worth the time. Trust me, as you read the book you can feel your life changing, and by the time you are done you will realize that your life will never be the same again.
I am not sayig its any more than fiction, but it changes ones perspective on all things. and helped me realize who I would be in life.
I agree on this being the best version of the leged of King Arthur.. if it was a legend.. I do believe he was real and as many other tales of old days, had been twisted too much to know what's real or not.
Anyways, this is the one who seems the most real, It is in deed a shame that Morgaine is takes as an evil wich is so many versions of this story.. but is not the first time in history that this has happened... Mery Magdalain rings a bell to anyone? ;)
a lot of arguing here :D thanks for uploading, i was looking for this a long time. a very weird but good movie, just gotta remember that marrying your sister was pretty common in those days and in some cultures it still is.
they THINK they are.i knows there are different varitions the ones i addressed are he ones who worship Mary.christians should worship or pray to Mary because she was Jesus's earthly mother, but she is not a divine being.
LOL...could be! Although I do miss the one little snippet where Morgaine lowers her head during the pyre flames, and it cuts back to the fighting...the score was magnificent there too. But it's just a few seconds long snippet is all.
On top of everything else, this movie and the book gave us the Arthur+Morgaine/Morgana 'ship that has become almost as popular as Lancelot + Guinevere! =)
we really don't know what's the truth. which belief is true. as for me, i believe in god. and as long as you feel it in ur heart and do things according to your conscience, that's enough for me.
@mysourromance Indeed she was here all along. We just had to truly use our heart and seek her out in order to find her. Same with the God. They are both here right now trying to tell us something. That it's time for all of us to seek out ourselves and know who we truly are. I have been discovering that for many lives now.
this why people should'nt classify catholics as christian.they worship mary and pray to the pope.real christians should only worship the father in heaven.
Actually, Catholics don't worship Mary. We honor her and recognize her as the mother of God. And we pray to Mary, the Pope, and the saints asking them to intercede to God for us. It's just like a little, well more than a little, of a helping hand when we really need some help. Hope I made that a little clearer. I know that confuses people a lot. =)
I know a lot of catholics - mostly of hispanic descent who do worship mary..they even have shrines to her...many even almost exclusively pray to her...
Maybe your form of catholicism doesn't pay too much empahsis on Mary, but other cultures do...so many catholics do worship her...I don't see anything wrong with this..just a fact of life..
@luigee78 Not really. People worship Mary (i.e. love her), the Catholic Church could not erase her image so they decided to use that image to further their own power. They get to decide what she was like and what she stands for, which is largely fiction
@hotties3v3n yeah...you are wrong...Catholics still believe that Jesus Christ is the saviour, just because they prey to mary and what not does not make them any less christian, i suggest to study your creeds before making such assumptions.
@hotties3v3n I don't. I'm not catholic...but seriously...STUDY YOUR CREEDS before you come out here and spout offensive crap, you don't know what you are talking about, come back and talk to me when you have reached puberty, maturity and when you have done at least a tiny amount of research
Catholics are the original christians, so they are christian. I'm not christian, but if you know your history, you would know that Catholics were the first christians (with the exceptio of of a few competing variations of christianity like the Gnostics, etc.)..but they were killed off.
the old religion is of the pagans, while wiccans are a branch from that. we all are that serve the wise and the old. the ones who practice the craft and religion since christainity.
There are many myths about the tales of King Arthur. I, for one, never understood Mordreds and Arthurs love/hate relationship, or why Arthur didnt try to kill mordred when he was younger, or why Mordred was so determined, or why morgaine didnt try stop her son. if anyone know please tell me
Did you read the book? Because I think it sheds at least some light on those matters. And gives us some insight into what it is like to serve higher powers.
@mellielli More power doesn't mean higher power. A higher power would NEVER EVER do what Vivienne did (set everyone up so that they have no choice but to submit)
well u see arthur never knew he had a son by his sister, and also the fact is that mordred just wanted to be accepted and morgaine left her son long ago, so she never knew how he turned out...
Thank you so much for putting this up, I was craving this movie. It holds so many truths, the spirit of it, I hope to get the book and the movie when I get the money.
mary is actually the symbol of mother goddess, also in the gnostic ways. there are evidences that mary from magdalena was just as high ascended as jesus, but rome also took this away. i believe that the pagan way and the original gnostic ways had a lot in common with eachother. to bad that the gnostic were also killed by the romans. i just love the druids and gnosts :)
@AcrossTheOceanSky I started it when I was a senior in high school and fell in love with it, yet I had to return it unfortunately. I hope to pick it up again soon.
great story, btw. I mean it's nasty, unholy & tragic, but the plot was very good. & Julianna Margulies is an amazing actress. She's very versatile.

It was nice to see Morgaine as the nice one for once, instead of being painted as the evil woman as she usually is.
horsesofwar0001 1 year ago 5

Asharian 1 year ago
@Asharian A human woman, a queen, a goddess... If it's true that she gave birth to Jesus being a virgin, then she is also his Cosmic soulmate. Virgin births happened throughout Antiquity, it means that the father is also the son (she is made pregnant by the spirit).
slendersail 1 year ago
I love the end (apart from Arthur's death). It shows how the pagan culture was adopted into Christian culture whether they want to admit it or not. And the ending was right, some of us still continue to bring the Mother Goddess back to who she once was and still is. Thanks for uploading. Great movie.
sexinesswithfangs 1 year ago
@sexinesswithfangs I think the Pagan and Christian religions include one another, but I also think that they are not what they're depicted in this movie. In this movie, I don't want to believe in either religion, because they are full of manipulation, murder and hypocrisy. Especially belief in sacrifice, or that life is not relevant unless you serve a god/goddess... Remember the Andromeda series? The Sun avatar believing life was insignificant was actually the Abyss (we would call it the Devil)

Mery Magdalain rings a bell to anyone? ;)

mysourromance 1 year ago 2
@mysourromance Indeed she was here all along. We just had to truly use our heart and seek her out in order to find her. Same with the God. They are both here right now trying to tell us something. That it's time for all of us to seek out ourselves and know who we truly are. I have been discovering that for many lives now.

this why people should'nt classify catholics as christian.they worship mary and pray to the pope.real christians should only worship the father in heaven.
hotties3v3n 1 year ago
Actually, Catholics don't worship Mary. We honor her and recognize her as the mother of God. And we pray to Mary, the Pope, and the saints asking them to intercede to God for us. It's just like a little, well more than a little, of a helping hand when we really need some help. Hope I made that a little clearer. I know that confuses people a lot. =)
Arlenwa 1 year ago 2
@Arlenwa why pray to human mortals?!
hotties3v3n 1 year ago
@Arlenwa
I know a lot of catholics - mostly of hispanic descent who do worship mary..they even have shrines to her...many even almost exclusively pray to her...
Maybe your form of catholicism doesn't pay too much empahsis on Mary, but other cultures do...so many catholics do worship her...I don't see anything wrong with this..just a fact of life..
luigee78 1 year ago
@luigee78 Not really. People worship Mary (i.e. love her), the Catholic Church could not erase her image so they decided to use that image to further their own power. They get to decide what she was like and what she stands for, which is largely fiction

@hotties3v3n yeah...you are wrong...Catholics still believe that Jesus Christ is the saviour, just because they prey to mary and what not does not make them any less christian, i suggest to study your creeds before making such assumptions.

@Astrathiul than why do you pray to mary and not the saviour?!

Lots of differences from the book - many of them have been noted in comments on the individual episodes.
But this film does highlight the bonds between mothers and daughters in a way the book is much less explicit on.
Still, the book is what will remain in my head tho' this was good to watch.

There are many myths about the tales of King Arthur. I, for one, never understood Mordreds and Arthurs love/hate relationship, or why Arthur didnt try to kill mordred when he was younger, or why Mordred was so determined, or why morgaine didnt try stop her son. if anyone know please tell me
Erestory 2 years ago
Did you read the book? Because I think it sheds at least some light on those matters. And gives us some insight into what it is like to serve higher powers.

@mellielli More power doesn't mean higher power. A higher power would NEVER EVER do what Vivienne did (set everyone up so that they have no choice but to submit)

mary is actually the symbol of mother goddess, also in the gnostic ways. there are evidences that mary from magdalena was just as high ascended as jesus, but rome also took this away. i believe that the pagan way and the original gnostic ways had a lot in common with eachother. to bad that the gnostic were also killed by the romans. i just love the druids and gnosts :)
