i don't feel like going through all of the comments to see if this has already been said but i don't think he means vampires in the conventional sense. personally, by 'vampires' i think he means people who suck the life out of others, not literally but figuratively. like old men stealing the youth of young women they marry in arranged marriages, i suppose. or i could be wrong and he could just be talking about actual vampires.

Don't be in denial because you're a huge fan of this band and you're getting all defensive. Okay, I'll admit, I used to be obsessed with Twilight once upon a time and I heard about this band when Stephenie Meyer directed "The Resolution." So then I knew about them. But I was over Twilight by the time I really looked Jack's Mannequin back up, and they're amazing.

No the people where mentioning twilight because Jacks Mannequin was mentioned in the thanks at the back of one of Stephanie Meyers books. Thats really how they became popular , no offense to the band. I mean you have to get discovered someway. It's way random, but so is the fandom. It's kind of sad, though, because it's assumed that because I read the books, enjoyed them, saw the movie, that I can't enjoy music from Jack's (or Muse), that I'm incapable for seeing it as what it really is - a band that makes music that actually has emotion. This song is more of a story, appreciate what he's gone through. So it's not his best song, wait for the album. This song will likely just be a bonus track, since it wasn't on his lineup... I think one of the best things about Andrew is that he writes what he wants and as he said, he doesn't want to make just another pop song to get on the radio. So this isn't his best, its something new. You can't have all great tracks.
