  • Odd huh? but remember this was one of the stations that "invented" TV news, so the place had its own culture, it was run independently of the rest of the station (and consultants) and was unlike any other TV station in the country, so we had far fewer "gimmicks" than most others, and the ones we did have tended to be home grown and not at all bad, if you ask me.

  • News Weekend was produced in four installments each weekend.

    6 and 11pm reports on Saturday were called updates one and two respectively.

    Updates three and four aired on Sunday at 6 and 11.

    If memory serves (and I was there at the time) if football uninterrupted the 6 on Sunday, the 11 was still called "News Weekend, update four".
