It's actually called a Vibraslap. A Vibraphone is a mallet instrument that is a lot like a xylophone, except that the Vibraphone's bars are made of metal, instead of rosewood. The Vibraphone's distinctive name and sound come from resonator tubes that sit underneath the bars that cause variable speeds of vibrato depending on the speed in which internal baffles are spun. Kind of like putting your hand on and off your mouth while you are singing.
