I think this artist is actually Cliff Edward, who was famous as "Ukelele Ike" in the 1920s. Cliff later went to work for Walt Disney and was featured as the voice of Jiminy Cricket in "Pinocchio" (1940) in which he sang "When You Wish Upon A Star", for which he was best known to later generations.
My grandmother passed away when I was a teenager and we inherited her old 78 RPM records. This was one of them. I loved it! I was probably the only 8th grader grooving to Gene Austin at the time. I don't have a 78 turntable now, so I haven't heard this in ages--thanks for posting it here. :)
1920's Speakeasy jazz during the prohibition is where it's at.

@davedial1951 : No, this is Gene Austin. He and Cliff Edwards had very similar singing styles and often sound alike.

Ruined completely by excessive, tin-eared noise supression.

I've just added this to 1926 in my 110 music playlists going back to 1900.
You can play any list and feel as if you're back in the day for up to 2 hours.
I'm always adding songs until all play at least 2 hours. Hope you'll give a listen. This was the year my Mom was born !

I also love this song - but I'm 6 ft 1inch, grey-haired and deeply paunchy. Oh dear, nothing rhymes...
