  • This is gorgeous! What a singer.

  • Alfred's voice quality is not too satisfactory but he's really into the stuff and has fine musical sense that belongs to that time, Henry Purcell's time.

  • danke

  • Alfred Deller is without doubt my favourite countertenor of all time, and although he's dead, he's still unbeatable as a singer.

  • england germany finland enjoy amazing one dream and this music perfect beautiful

  • ...and how liberatingly esy is it not to weep along with Purcell and Alfred Deller...

  • Fantastic! Nobody could sing this like Deller; he was unique!

  • is he dead already?

  • He died in 1979.

  • sadly, yes. Alfred Deller is no longer with us.

  • Absolutely riveting!

  • Alfred deller was the one who introduced me to the music of Purcell and i never heard anyone sing these songs better, the fragile side of the music, always on the edge....

  • Couldn't agree more. Deller had a particular pathos in his voice so suited to the music of Purcell.

  • welcome, note counters.

  • Sometimes flat is intentional! Come on!

  • thank you

  • He seems to be music personnified!

  • O, let me forever weep:

My eyes no more shall welcome sleep.

I'll hide me from the sight of day,

    And sigh my soul away.

    SHe's gone, his loss deplore,

And I shall never see him more.

  • Not from this earth. I think that the Great Alfred sung this beig half in the other world (recorded about 2 months before his death...).

Eternal glory and blessing to you, Maestro...

  • Composition of my childhood.I always appreciated this composition of Purcell!

In the voice of Deller it was amazing, I knew interpreted it by a woman!

Purcell died early, I am imagining whath he would have composed arrived the old age. He hurts lovelly in the little has little time that had.

    Amazing Deller & Purcell
