What people in the church say might not be right but what the church itself teaches is right as are the prophet, apostles, etc. I'm 19 and started over with reading and am taking notes on all chapters from Old Testament to Articles of Faith. @maximusjay Actually, Jesus did not merely "utter divinely inspired revelations". He did His Father's Will and taught us how to live more lovingly with each other. He performed miracles that no one else could. He also showed us that He was acting on behalf of the Father when He instructed Philip, "Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you do not know me. Anyone who sees me, sees the Father. Anyone who knows me, knows the Father." More like part of the Father and not a prophet.

The Bible was brought forth by inspiration. Now, when you receive guidance, how do you know the guidance is from God? Do you have a truly objective standard to discern between truth and falsehood, or do you have to rely on good feelings. Remember, the Bible says there is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end, it leads to death. True prophets in the OT gave 100% accurate prophecies. Put the LDS prophets to that test, and they fail before getting past the first one.

The Bible and BoM testify of each other? So, one "corrupt" book (the Bible) testifies of another corrupt book (the BoM). I've read quite a bit of the BoM. Compared to the Bible, the BoM pales in comparison to it. The BoM contradicts what the Bible has already revealed. What's more, the BoM, in some places, contradicts current LDS doctrine! Some core LDS doctrine isn't even found in the BoM. Yet, the LDS want me to believe it has the 'fulness of the Gospel'?

If you are told something or read something that goes against what God has said already than you know its false. As Jesus did when the devil tempted him, he compared every temptation against the Word of God. Test the spirits, or feelings, for even Satan appears as an angel of light.

@serrora1 here we go again. The first vision clearly states that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith and told him not to join any other church but that his gospel was to be restored in this day. The same gospel is here again. I'm not Walter Kronkite but that's the way it was.
U claim the Levitical Priesthood that was fulfilled by Christ. You in secret claim to in effect then to be a Jew who is adopted into one of the tribes of Israel. You call the rest of the Christian world the Gentiles. How silly you are. Rev, 3:9 "I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan (Mormon Temple), who claim to be Jews (LDS) though they are not, but are liars--I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you."
@serrora1 Everything that was done in the Mormon church was commanded by God through modern revelation. Understand that because you're spouting off bible verses like what we believe is another gospel other than what bible teaches. See the LDS Articles of Faith. And polygamy does not go on now. It did in the 1800's but that was commanded of God.

Actually, Galatians 1:8 - 10 reads: "But though we, or an angel from Heaven, preach a Gospel to you besides that which you have recieved, let him be anathema (cursed, reviled). For do I now persuade men or God? Or do I seek to please men? If I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ." The Holy Bible should not be changed in word or context. Although this verse does prove quite accurately the falsehoods of protestant cults.
@mastad23 The ONLY authority for the Priesthood was what Our Lord Jesus Christ bestowed upon the Apostles. No one else has ever had such authority! Joseph Smith had a dream and when is cult began they turned away from a lot of the Commandments. How do you justify that? True Christians (followers of Christ) know this and openly reject the falsehood of these cults. I thank God for opening our eyes to these falsehoods lest we be led like sheep to the slaughter.
@maximusjay Joseph Smith didn't "restore" anything. He had a dream and, quite sadly, a bunch of people bought into it and formed another cult where they could be all nice and comfy making up the rules as they went along. They practiced bigamy quite openly and then changed it to suit their comfort levels. They had no objection to hording riches and looking down on the less fortunate (some still do) and then changed things to look better in front of others. Most prostestant cults do likewise.

mastad there is no basis of fact in any of your claims as to "Christ's Church" and that you priesthood is as authentic as it was then. First Mormons have no right to the Aaronic Priesthood which has no known heirs, and second the Priesthood was fulfilled by Christ on the Cross. As to not knowing his gospel that is a hypocritical statement coming from a Mormon. If you knew his Gospel you would be on your knees as I have had to do, begging forgiveness for proclaiming a false one, the BOM.

I know Mormonism very well mastad23. I've read your scriptures many times and just finished a theological thesis paper on the priesthood of your religion. The LDS church is not based on the Gospel of Christ as found in the New Testament, nor the Book of Mormon for that matter, but is entirely based on the D&C.

@mastad The question is, how can we know God's Truth? In the LDS church if you pray and get a 'burning in the bosom' then something is true. But wouldn't that be akin to praying to know if Lord of the Rings was true, and if you got a good feeling, then its true? Jesus sets the example for us: He says "I am the Truth"& "Follow me". This is completely false. The repentance process in the LDS church requires you to go to your local ward bishop and confess, thereby repenting to a man as the intermediary between you and Christ. And depending on the severity there are other things attached. Christ Himself always forgave instantly and without hesitation. There is ONE mediator between God and men, the Lord Jesus Christ!
Not true. You only visit with your bishop or stake president if you need help trying to repent. LDS people generally only consult their bishop if they are having trouble finding forgiveness or trying to change their ways.

Lets say in the case breaking your temple covanants and committing adultry, you are telling everyone here that a person does not have to see their bishop and go through the repentance process for that? Anyone that knows anything about LDS doctrine would not agree with you here.
As I said if it is something serious or you are trying to change your ways then you would consult your bishop. When you meet with him you are not repenting to him or repenting through him. He will help you go through the process of repenting to God, but it is your ultimate choice to repent and accept God's forgiveness and change your ways.

I 100% agree. Working with your bishop to find forgiveness and to get help with personal problems is a personal choice. An LDS leader never encourages anyone to repent to them, and the church makes it clear that you do not confess to your bishop like in the Catholic Church.
An interview for a temple recommend in the LDS church is the same thing as a confession, although it is not called one. What are some of the questions they ask? "Are you living the law of chastity?" "Are you living the Word of Wisdom?"

I don't consider that a confession. Your bishop is there to try and make sure you are worthy. He is not there to forgive you. He has authority to conduct an interview on behalf of God or Jesus Christ through priesthood.
For example: How many temples can there be? (And don't hold your breath, this proves the Book of Mormon is false.) But there can only be ONE temple under the Old Law. Ask any Jew.
There is only one temple mount, and only one Ark of the Covanant. In fact, the structure of the temple was only there to house the Ark in. Also, you had to be a literal descendant of Aaron in order have the Levitical Priesthood.

P.S. On the Temple thing and the Book of Mormon. The BOM says that Nephi built a temple in the Americas. But how could that have been? "Bearing Fruit" for God is sharing the Gospel of Christ, the Good News that even though you as a human being are a horrible sinner, inside and out, that Christ because of His love for you died for you on the cross as the penalty for your sins. The LDS church cannot have any true fruit because they teach a false gospel that is based on individual works and not on the saving grace of Christ. God bless.

This guy doesn't even get the repentance process of the church. You don't HAVE to go to the bishop for repentance. You can repent yourself but it's advised to go to the bishop to also seek advice on what to do. So this guy left because of peer pressure. Lame. The church teaches that we're to have personal relationships with God, not that we have to go through someone. You didn't even understand the church and still don't.

@garrulah Exactly. He didn't say he thought the doctrine was false, he said he didn't understand it. I'm in the US and a member. Born a member, will die a member. What people in the church say might not be right but what the church itself teaches is right as are the prophet, apostles, etc. I'm 19 and started over with reading and am taking notes on all chapters from Old Testament to Articles of Faith. At no point does the church teach something is between you and a relationship with the Lord.

Where do you get such a thing as Christ is not our Prophet because He is not on this earth? Start thinking for yourself. The Holy Ghost is on the Earth is He not? Here is what the Bible says: Revelation comes from God the Father to His only son, through the Holy Ghost to the Faithful followers of Jesus the Christ by way of the Gift of Prophecy. Christ said to receive the Holy spirit we must Pray, and we will receive this Gift before or after a Baptism of H20. Read about it.

"Prophet" one who utters divinely inspired revelations (Merriam Webster) Hebrews 1" In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. Christ speaks to us through the Holy Ghost. God the Father speaks to Christ. Unless God the Father is speaking directly, that makes His Son a Prophet.

But I do raise the factual point that Christ was never a prophet although a lot of protestant cults, Mormons included, would make Him out to be such. His IS our High Priest and Saviour and the second of three persons in the Blessed Trinity (God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit). Three person in one God. Am I truly evil for knowing the Truth about this?

@maximusjay Actually, Jesus did not merely "utter divinely inspired revelations". He did His Father's Will and taught us how to live more lovingly with each other. He performed miracles that no one else could. He also showed us that He was acting on behalf of the Father when He instructed Philip, "Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you do not know me. Anyone who sees me, sees the Father. Anyone who knows me, knows the Father." More like part of the Father and not a prophet.

The Bible is correct as far as it is translated. Its the word of God but people got ahold of the book and tried to make it easier for us to understand so little pieces of truth were lost. would you rather have a copy of a copy of a copy or the original? thats what happened. people did go off the orginal bible.

But when The Mormons receive guidance, its is by God and prophets not my man. we aren't perfect so we cant give people 100 percent guidance but prophets can. why say Im a liar?

The Bible was brought forth by inspiration. Now, when you receive guidance, how do you know the guidance is from God? Do you have a truly objective standard to discern between truth and falsehood, or do you have to rely on good feelings. Remember, the Bible says there is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end, it leads to death. True prophets in the OT gave 100% accurate prophecies. Put the LDS prophets to that test, and they fail before getting past the first one.

Now that's the first time I've heard that one...both written about the same time? Really? Wasn't the BoM supposed to tell of Jesus' dealings in the Americas? Doesn't the LDS teach that Jesus went to speak to the "other sheep" as per John? So how could all that go on at the same time? I might be missing something here, so feel free to enlighten me.

The Bible and BoM testify of each other? So, one "corrupt" book (the Bible) testifies of another corrupt book (the BoM). I've read quite a bit of the BoM. Compared to the Bible, the BoM pales in comparison to it. The BoM contradicts what the Bible has already revealed. What's more, the BoM, in some places, contradicts current LDS doctrine! Some core LDS doctrine isn't even found in the BoM. Yet, the LDS want me to believe it has the 'fulness of the Gospel'?

First off, I really have no interest in mission prez quips. First off, the order of offices is wrong. The Bible says APOSTLES first, then prophets (1 Cor. 12:28). Second, Isaiah, Micah, and Hosea were contemporaries, so why couldn't the church have more than one prophet at a time?

There's an excellent book you should read entitled "Which Bible Should You Read?" by Thomas A. Nelson. It is well researched and quite factually points out the inaccuracies of bibles that have been twisted over the centuries. The KJV which you hold so dear also deletes 7 complete books of God's Holy Word! What's your excuse for that? The Holy Ghost does indeed help me! Thank God!

honable mission? its not if you fall away! prophets are there to point you to christ! why were there prophets in the old days and now people are saying how we dont need prophets today! it says in the bible there was periods of times there were no prophets because people were stupid! and when God thought we were ready he would call another prophet and we would listen. The oposticy was a time were there was no prophets! so we called on, Joseph and now at least some of us are back on track.disagre?

There is no direct evidence whatsoever that Joseph Smith is mentioned in the Bible or that he had anything more than a dream. Prophets speak the Truth of the Living God, not the falsehoods of your cult! Prophets don't seek to rule by fear as your cult seems to dictate. God rules by Love NOT fear and senselessness.

It should be very clear that I have nothing but contempt for the false teachings of the false prophets and false apostles of Mormonism. They do however play a very important role in the end times. They fulfill all the Prophesies about the Anti-Christ and false teachers, false prophets and false Apostles, flawlessly. All the Prophecies must be fulfilled. Someone had to do it. i didnt once hear that he prayed and asked heavenly father himself what he should do and if he what he was feeling was right..he studied and studied but did he pray about it? One of the greatest ways a person recieves an undeniable conviction that the church is true is through their prayers and actually being in the spirit to hear the answers of those prayers...

If you are told something or read something that goes against what God has said already than you know its false. As Jesus did when the devil tempted him, he compared every temptation against the Word of God. Test the spirits, or feelings, for even Satan appears as an angel of light.

Careful mastad23 not to blastpheme against the Holy Ghost, which is the only unforgivable sin according to Jesus Christ. Which is that if someone is speaking the Word of God and you say its evil or call them a demon, you will fall into the hands of the living God on judgement day. All he does is preach the true Word of God. Also, he doesn't post any of these himself. Its all done by a 3rd party.

We believe in the bible but we also have modern revelation in the Book of Mormon, D&C n so on...something other church's do not provide. The priesthood was restored and is as authentic today as it was then. As for the Jews....who cares son? Not me!! May God forgive me? So why then do you pretend to be of the house of Israel as a Mormon? Why does your church teach the 10 commandments? Hebrews makes clear that the only being who qualifies for the Melchezidek Priesthood is Christ, making Him the true, one and only High Priest. Jesus Christ fulfilled the law, so why do you still subject yourselves to a law (works) that you can't live up too and denying the grace that Christ offers without cost?

Understand that because you're spouting off bible verses like what we believe is another gospel other than what bible teaches. See the LDS Articles of Faith. And polygamy does not go on now. You all claim to have this "DIRECT contact with God" and yet when anyone asks you for evidence, which Jesus and God have no problem with, you balk and dodge quicker than a kid in a dodgeball game. It was merely Joseph Smith fulfilling his own lustful desires and using his dream to attempt to justify it! God never commanded or approved any such thing about women being abused in such manner. Actually, Galatians 1:8 - 10 reads: "But though we, or an angel from Heaven, preach a Gospel to you besides that which you have recieved, let him be anathema (cursed, reviled). For do I now persuade men or God? Or do I seek to please men? If I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ." The Holy Bible should not be changed in word or context. Although this verse does prove quite accurately the falsehoods of protestant cults.

@mastad23 The ONLY authority for the Priesthood was what Our Lord Jesus Christ bestowed upon the Apostles. No one else has ever had such authority! Joseph Smith had a dream and when is cult began they turned away from a lot of the Commandments. How do you justify that? True Christians (followers of Christ) know this and openly reject the falsehood of these cults. I thank God for opening our eyes to these falsehoods lest we be led like sheep to the slaughter.

@maximusjay Joseph Smith didn't "restore" anything. He had a dream and, quite sadly, a bunch of people bought into it and formed another cult where they could be all nice and comfy making up the rules as they went along. They practiced bigamy quite openly and then changed it to suit their comfort levels. They had no objection to hording riches and looking down on the less fortunate (some still do) and then changed things to look better in front of others. Most prostestant cults do likewise.

mastad there is no basis of fact in any of your claims as to "Christ's Church" and that you priesthood is as authentic as it was then. First Mormons have no right to the Aaronic Priesthood which has no known heirs, and second the Priesthood was fulfilled by Christ on the Cross. As to not knowing his gospel that is a hypocritical statement coming from a Mormon. If you knew his Gospel you would be on your knees as I have had to do, begging forgiveness for proclaiming a false one, the BOM.

I know Mormonism very well mastad23. I've read your scriptures many times and just finished a theological thesis paper on the priesthood of your religion. The LDS church is not based on the Gospel of Christ as found in the New Testament, nor the Book of Mormon for that matter, but is entirely based on the D&C.

@mastad The question is, how can we know God's Truth? In the LDS church if you pray and get a 'burning in the bosom' then something is true. But wouldn't that be akin to praying to know if Lord of the Rings was true, and if you got a good feeling, then its true? Jesus sets the example for us: He says "I am the Truth"& "Follow me". When Jesus was temped of the devil he said "It is written" We are to test all things with the Word of God. And I reject the BOM because it teaches a different gospel.

This is completely false. The repentance process in the LDS church requires you to go to your local ward bishop and confess, thereby repenting to a man as the intermediary between you and Christ. And depending on the severity there are other things attached. Christ Himself always forgave instantly and without hesitation. There is ONE mediator between God and men, the Lord Jesus Christ!

Not true. You only visit with your bishop or stake president if you need help trying to repent. LDS people generally only consult their bishop if they are having trouble finding forgiveness or trying to change their ways.

Lets say in the case breaking your temple covanants and committing adultry, you are telling everyone here that a person does not have to see their bishop and go through the repentance process for that? As I said if it is something serious or you are trying to change your ways then you would consult your bishop. When you meet with him you are not repenting to him or repenting through him. He will help you go through the process of repenting to God, but it is your ultimate choice to repent and accept God's forgiveness and change your ways.

Then why have a bishop? What is the point when we have the Word of God and Jesus Christ, the ONLY mediator between God and men? You do not know God's Word nor His power. A 'bishop' is also a fallen sinner, and cannot make intercession for God on your behalf as Christ put sin to death on the cross allowing a personal relationship with Him. Do you deny these things? Are LDS leaders not sinners also?

You can have a bishop as a spiritual leader pointing someone to Christ as a pastor does, but it not necissary to confess to a man and go to a man in order to be forgiven by God. Do you agree?

I 100% agree. Working with your bishop to find forgiveness and to get help with personal problems is a personal choice. An LDS leader never encourages anyone to repent to them, and the church makes it clear that you do not confess to your bishop like in the Catholic Church.

An interview for a temple recommend in the LDS church is the same thing as a confession, although it is not called one. What are some of the questions they ask? "Are you living the law of chastity?" "Are you living the Word of Wisdom?"

I don't consider that a confession. Your bishop is there to try and make sure you are worthy. He is not there to forgive you. He has authority to conduct an interview on behalf of God or Jesus Christ through priesthood.

For example: How many temples can there be? (And don't hold your breath, this proves the Book of Mormon is false.) But there can only be ONE temple under the Old Law. Ask any Jew.
There is only one temple mount, and only one Ark of the Covanant. In fact, the structure of the temple was only there to house the Ark in. Also, you had to be a literal descendant of Aaron in order have the Levitical Priesthood.
What does the cross of Christ represent to you? What does the Bible say?

P.S. On the Temple thing and the Book of Mormon. The BOM says that Nephi built a temple in the Americas. But how could that have been? When first off he wasn't the High Priest under the Levitical Priesthood, he didn't have the Ark of the Covanant, and he wasn't anywhere near the Temple Mount. :-) Just food for thought. Read God's true Word, the Bible.

John how can you be worthy without confessing to your Bishop? If you did not pay all your Tithe do you confess to your Bishop or do you lie to him? If you have committed a grievous sin, do you confess to your Bishop or do you lie to him? How can an interview be conducted with out a confession? Yes or no are confessions. You are a Silly one. Dear LeSavvaii, Jesus (God in the flesh) leads me through his Word. You are lead by men who lie to you. God is infinite, and is called the Father because Christ is His ONLY begotten Son. The Holy Ghost is God's spirit, literally, as Mary was conceived "of the Holy Ghost", and Jesus came in the form of sinful man to condemn sin in the flesh. Romans 8:3-4. Can you think of a better way for an infinite true and living God to communicate His will to us than sending His Son, in human form?
