  • Nice vehicle! It's the same procedure one the E46 M3 as well, if it's equipped with SMG. As far as I can recall, it was sport, DSC off, turn the shift mode to 6, first gear, floor it and release the shift lever. GO...

  • Any clues why USA versions revs only 1.5k rpms, and EU-models 4k?

  • @ObbiShade no the BMW system is different you don't press break you hold the lever forward and the computer applys the break

  • 2:04 I see you've already tried a few times! :D

  • can i have your car? :)

  • why it sounds so gay and why the rpms are locked at 1500rpm? isnt it normal that you put one foot on the brake und the other of the gaspedal and while you still push it down, you release the brake, and the rpms are locked by 4000-5000 rpms? lol

  • @ObbiShade eruo specs hit 4000 revs. US 1500. Dunno why (fuel emissions maybe?!)

  • @ashrafnfs coz europe is the best ;)

  • Hi.

Can you do this with a 530i that has an SMG tranny?

  • nice vid dude...but seriously, in your neighborhood?? neighbors must all love you...or hopefully they are all race car drivers!

  • is it true if use launch control in M6 u can use it again at least after 15 minutes no earlier ???

  • Wait does the 2011 BMW 328 or 335i U.S Spec have launch control as options?

  • launch control is for pussies that are scared of man. trans.

  • why do they make these complicated transmissions, when they could so easily make a standard manual?

  • Work better on a 4x4, I mean especially for the wheel. Ifnot really amazing car. A kinda of batmobil tools :)

  • so much steps i'd rather get a nissan gtr 2011

  • @furiouskid100 This is the long way around. You can program it to use the M button and all you do is hit the M button and you are ready to launch. Still nothing wrong with the GTR as an alternate choice.

  • @RidesChannel M/// POWER!! :)

  • @RidesChannel I have a 2008 BMW M3 and i came to a full stop and pressed the M button and left foot on brake and in 1st gear , i release my foot off the brake and that has the same effect as launch control but it doesnt mess up the gear box cause its a double clutch

  • @RidesChannel great video man! Will this work with the M3 E46?

  • @sebasf430 Yes, if you have an SMG, it should be the same. I used to use it when I had my '05.

  • @furiouskid100

thats the difference beetween a man and a pussy a pussy drives nissan a man drives bmw

  • @furiouskid100 Yeah if u got no kids

  • i live in canada and i just bought a bmw m3 2011 copetition pack, does this work on my model too?

  • Actually you can use louch control only 15 times, after you'll have to change clutch, because this clutch wasn't created to restain such loads.

  • Way to kill your clutch.

  • Question. .How Do You Do This On An e46 Rather Then the e92's?

  • Is there **

  • Hi i have à question . Th american BMW m6 can only rev to 1500 but the european can rev upp to 4000. Is tyder à way for the american BMW m6 to make it rev to 4000 ????

  • @Mrfantasticel Yes flash the cpu/chip - through dinan etc

  • fr diiie wo nid wüsse was (LAUNCH CONTROL BINEM BMW ISH) ...

  • I use launch control on my cousins BMW ///M3 and my little cousin was in the back and it scared the sh*t outta him. As soon as we turn off DSC damn I didn't get scared cuz he used it lots of times when I'm inside . But one thing I can tell for sure is that the first you sit inside an ///M3 you will get scared if launch control is on

  • Hell yeah, next time do it in a parking lot of a grocery store!

  • Hi all, can i make the same thing on a BMW 525d? Yeah, i'm a little bit scared to make that, without a confirmation so thanks for responding... Bye all

  • @pek1313 No launch available on your model....

  • Thank you very very much! Will this also work with my M5?

  • @WeezyBestRapperAlive Absolutely .... M5 2006 through 2010 ...same as M6.

  • @RidesChannel Hey great vid. How bad is this on the tranny? Can I do launch control as much as I want? Please inform me, thanks.

  • @The0rangePanda Very hard on the tranny. I had to change the smg controller $6k usd after a while. Luckily it was covered under warranty.

  • is it just me or does that sound like a fake accent?

  • @jhafanador69 Not a fake accent - actually South African English.

  • Why do the LC of EU models use higher RPM than US models?

  • @szabee07 US Warranty vs Euro Warranty - US has limited the revs to avoid warranty issues.

  • @RidesChannel Thank you.

  • @szabee07 Because as Americans we get shafted on every imported car!

  • That's still an impressive launch even at a minimal 1.5k

  • lol...on a residential street? Jesus.

  • 0:50 what is it that you move to 6 ?

  • @TheArkan93km Shift aggressiveness. 1 bar is comfort, 6 bars is fast-shifting.

  • dumbest thing i have ever seen.

  • your neighbours must love you.

  • Guys...don´t use this shit to much...i used it allready around 60 Times...

Launch Control fucks the Clutch(around 3000 Dollars) the SMG Hydraulik Pump(4000 dollars) and also the differential.....

my car feals very wear to drive now..i need to replace the smg pump tomorrow..and maybe soon, also the Clutch:)

    Peace..from Portugal Europe

  • 1500 revs, americans can't handle much more!

  • @YZFMANIAC08 that's what I thought too :-D

  • i tried this but the rpm didnt hold still and when i relese the gear it didnt move so what i did wrong ??

  • what are these "bars" at 0:46?

  • @Waton007 Transmission speed. You can choose the spped for comfort or more bars for sportiness.

  • @Waton007 this is the speed of gear changing, on the smallest "bar" the gears will change very soft and smooth, but on 6 bars it will fuck you up super-speed gearchanging. Sorry for bad grammar

  • yeyy now I just need the car..

  • This is a good how too. Learned how to launch my M6 now :)

  • what to do in Dubai when you're boored.

  • Thanks for showing the launch control on a U.S. spec M car. I own the M5 and have a printed version, but it really makes a difference to see how it should be done and what it looks and sounds like, so much thanks from me. I love my car and was wondering how some testers got a 0-60 of 4.1 and others were near 4.7? Now, I see that the use of launch control makes a huge difference and at that rpm, you should not have to worry about damaging the drivetrain?

  • As if I need another reason to love this car....

  • nice vid man

  • do we have to do everyhting he does there in order the launch it not even missing one thing i tried with my m5 but when i put the gear lever forward and step on the gas peddle the car slides forward....

  • @cspro23 If its on a down hill yes it would because the brakes are not engaged. So if that happens accelarate with your right foot and slightly press the brake pedal with your left foot and release it when you release the gear lever. Just dont press the brake pedal to the max, just enough to keep it still.

  • Out of curiosity, is this only possible by holding down the gear leaver, or can one also do it by pulling the paddle?

  • The paddle would have been nice, sort of like F1. Unfortunately the only way to launch is using the gear lever in the forward position.

  • Ah I see. Okay, thank you for answering my question. Great video by the way. Happy driving.

  • Why is the Euro Spec 4k and the US limited to 1.5k? What's the point of restricting it? I know it's possible to get that fixed with new programming.

  • As you mentioned the restrictions can be lifted by flashing the ECU. The limitations are put in place to limit liability and protect warranty coverage on excessive wear and tear.

  • Because the parts are made in Europe getting parts changed are cheaper. Because the parts are made in Europe getting parts changed are alot more expensive.

  • @AntDX316 Yeah, its called a manual transmission :) hehe Dump the clutch at 4k, that should solve your problem.

  • Yes pre program the M button settings. Then all you have to do is push the M button and hold the gear leaver forward and you're ready to launch.

The second question depends on the driver and distance of the Race. The M6 would win on top speed over a longer distance.

  • why dont you push the pedal to the metal? x) If you do it, the engine run at ~4,5k rpm, or not?

  • Pedal is to the metal! US Spec M6 only rev to 1500 on launch control. Euro Spec rev to 4500 on launch control.....FYI

  • thanks the nfo, have a nice day ;)

  • Do you have to shift during this mode or will it automatically shift thru the gears?

  • The launch setup forces you to launch in 1st gear. After launch you could switch to Drive but that would defeat the purpose.

  • I need one of these

  • couldnt there have been a button 2 do all that

  • There is a button. One has to pre program the M buttons settings then all you do is push the M button and hold the gear leaver forward and you're ready to launch. We will be posting a video of how to setup the M button ready for launch.

  • waaaaaaaaaaaa :D:D

  • Interesting...I would have used "launch control' at BMW performance school if I would have known this. I'll have to try this sometime on our M6.

  • Comment removed

  • But how does the launch control that holds the RPM to 4500??

  • Computers.

  • I now know how 2 launch a car i cant afford... Woohoo!

  • @datrucolombianballer

    same here

  • Much easier to set the M button to the same specs. All u do then is press the button

  • It is much easier to learn to drive a stick shift car...you don't need to mess with all these different options. How long did it take to get to 60mph in this video? About 2 minutes...If i could afford a new M5 i'd definitely buy one with manual transmission. Automatic is for girlz.

  • GnR, you have no idea what you are talking about. first: e60 M5 only came as SMG in the US. second: Essentially, SMG is a manual gear box but the clutch is electronically operated, hence there isn't a clutch pedal

third: you dont have to go thru that series, the M button can be set up as a preference to everything he does manually on this video. fourth: why do u thing F1 racing uses this set up?

    Fifth: ur an idiot

  • E60 M5 came only in SMG in the US? this is knews to me. How aboutyou do all of us a favor and yourself, and go build an M5 on BMWusa. Remember to look at the TWO transmissions they offer.

  • no, just the video that wanted to explain to us properly.

if u has set up those setting properly be4, than after that u just need to prees the M button and off the DSC. that's all. which only take about 5 sec.

  • how many times you can use the launch control and deos it bad for the gear if you use it many times

  • I would assume it's no worse than launching at 1.5k with a standard transmission. As long as the clutch system is beefy enough to take the torque, it should be fine.

  • Brill cheers mate... so for LC, the US spec to 1.5k... what about the Canadian spec (which should be the same as US) M3 with DKG? some say 4.5k, others say 5k... ur saying red line?!?!?! which is it?

  • Is this now available on the new e92 m3 if it has the double clutch drive logic system system??

  • good question, i test drove the new e92 about a week ago and tried this procedure but with no luck. Don't get me wrong i've done this on the e60 several times with no problems, but somehow it would not work on the e92

  • Yes It is available on the e92 M3. I just tried it out this weekend with Martin B. Head of BMW Motorsports USA. Power needs to be on and DSC off and same procedure as the M6. The cool thing about the M3 is that you can rev to the redline to launch....be careful....its quick!!!

  • The E92 does have LC... see some of the vids on utube

  • yes it is

  • is he pushing the brake as well

  • No brake needed as it is 1st gear.

  • is it the same for the launch control on the 335i? I have the new 7 speed DCT transmission.

  • NO.

  • Nice video, thanks for posting it. Explained it clearly.

  • Very helpful. Thanks!

  • Thanks for this video, just got my M5 2 days ago and this works perfect

  • It's only available on the smg. You can use the clutch to launch a manual.

  • do you know if X5's can do that too?

  • launch control is only in M cars.

  • i think launch control is only if

    we have smg.

    i think

  • can that damage the car?

  • Of course...BMW builds a feature in its holy grail that would kill the car. OMG!!! XDXD

Btw: Why is this difference between US and EU models...i mean that european M5s in launch control mode revs up til around 4500 rpm while US models only rev up to 1500...The european model reaches its maximum torque much faster, so i think it might accelerate faster. Higher starting rev might be harmful to the clutch though.

  • the launch controll simulates dropping the clutch. and yes it damages the car, as your putting pressure on the autobox's clutch.

  • you have to have good tires.other wise it well not be usefull right?

  • ive seen vids of them revving at 3k rpm with the us mph speedo and launched it

  • ill try it on my M5 as soon as I have time. I raced it this weekend and lost the first time because I didnt know about launch control then read up on it when I got home

  • wow luv it make more
