Actually, most whizzer cones don't extend the highs, they give extra highs, they "whizz", providing a peak in the low to mid treble. I've done a lot of experimentation and cut off those whizzers and believe it or not they always sounded smoother and more extended.
yeah, that whizzer cone probably helps the driver to get into the15 khz ballpark, adding a dedicated high frequency tweeter would perhaps add a little more sizzle and sounds like a great idea.
