Why is ice climbing so hard? it seems like you have a foot and hand anywhere. You just pick and kick... I have never been so I just want to know why it is hard.

there isn't a hand and a foot anywhere though, if you try and place a tool in the wrong place the ice will shatter.
Overhanging stuff is a whole other game though, I'll stick with vertical for now
