should have had atleast plastic boning to resemble a corset, I understand this is supposed to be a cheap and easy make corset,but it's more of a lace top really. Which is perfectly fine offcourse. Corsets are supposed to reduce your waist,this is more of a decor. But it looks cute :)

This wasn't a corset; there was no boning, no busk, no grommets. And at worst a pattern might cost $10, and the fabric and other materials might cost around $30. How cheap is that? I certainly wasn't rich when I began corsetry.

This was a cute, quick and easy bodice, nothing more.

It's a corset style top that's affordable for the average Joe-Shmoe to make who can't afford boned/ribbed, super expensive corsets, and who have less experience at sewing than some people. It's a nice midway point for those who love the look of a corset who don't have the budget for one, and Gianni is being very gracious to share this with everyone for free.

If you pay attention to Gianny's videos at all, you would know that she designs things that can be done fast and easy. She is by no means a tailor or a fashion designer. But her stuff is something that most beginning sewers can make and feel happy about in a hurry. You know-fun stuff.

The stitching was more for you to see what she was doing than anything else. I am sure your finished garment would not be done quite so ... terrible.

There are such things as corsets with no boning. Back when corsets were actually a necessary part of women's wardrobe, there were corsets that did not have bones. Mostly, these were used to help younger girls get use to wereing them, but also, there were corsets called jump corset, or just jumps, which had no or very light boning. so, yes, this can still be considered a corset.

this is not good example unless you have not got breasts. otherwise top would not fit your bust. it should be cut in different way, where space for breasts must be left.

@cutibubbli a top like this one will not pull in your waist line. I recommend you google "vena cava design" and look for under-bust corset patterns on there. These should ideally be made with steel bones, and these will define your waist line.

also, pretty much any non-stretch fabric is good for a real corset.

for a corset top like this one, the sky's the limit :D

@cutibubbli hi. I've done a little more research. you can literally google search "corset pattern" and you will get loads of links for a proper corset. You can get your supplies from vena cava design. I recommend that you practice a little with the steel bones before attempting a full corset. maybe you have an old top or dress that requires a little structure? try both flat and spiral steel bones so you get an idea of what they bth do to a garment :)

Well, that's great that you know how to do the lacing, and I took that away from watching this video, but other than that this is... disappointing. No boning, not a great shape for the body, and the end result has ripples and wrinkles. A corset, even a fake shirt corset thing, should never have wrinkles, because it is tight fitting.

You put an image in it somehow and it sews it on like a laser! my mom has one that is disney so it does the main disney characters like mickey, minnie, donald, etc. But those are already input in there but i know she had told me she could do other designs by programming it or something. so yea hope that helped :D

That is a corset style shirt, not an actual corset. Along with the boning and grommets, a true corset is extremely tailored and fitted.
