@Cody111079 hi Marty. no, in my later years i no longer play out. in my youth i sometiimes gigged five nights per week. but back then i only played cover songs. in the past ten years or so, i only play originals and i believe that the majority of public audiences prefere songs they are familiar with. now i only practice guitar and post some you tube videos up to communicate with interesting artists such as yourself. peace and love, chuck.
@chuxtrux That's very nice of you to say. I should say that I've been posting less of my ideas for songs because I'm focusing on my band now (and it's going well). Thanks for replying!
I love this song Chuck. Really interesting lyrics ( raise the bar / lower the boom) - very rich. Maybe the beat goes on, maybe there's a purpose to life - It's got a real existential quality about it. Nice work (as always) - Karl.
@karlmahlmann hi there Karl. thanks for taking the time to listen, and i'm pleased that you "get" it. sometimes i wonder if i'm communicating enough for others to understand what i'm writing about. it makes me feel very good when i think we connect. so very nice to hear from you, peace and love, chuck.
@craggery hi there Craig. thanks for taking the time to listen and comment. sitting here waiting for the rain to stop so i can maybe do some roof work. and the beat goes on, chuck.
hi Paul. very nice to hear from you. i just feel like we, each of us, are the threads of an infinate tapistry. the good, the bad and the ugly........all the same ol' rug. peace and love, chuck.
Great finger play on this one Chuck. Bouncing around and hammering, all so good. I think you are right. The beat has no choice but to "go on". The alternative is a mystery, isn't it?
@mountnmonkey hi there Ron. thanks for stopping by and thanks for the subscription. i've enjoyed your own channel for a long time. you southern hoopies sure know how to have a good time. we northern hoopies just sit here and miss those big old mountains down your way. i was in cleveland once, wearing a West Virginal ball cap in a restaurant. a customer said to me, "hey WV, i am from the capitol of West Va.....Columbus". sad job migration situation. be well, chuck.
Hi Chuck! Your picking skills are superb! The lyrics are very thoughtful and stuck with me..I had to go back and have a couple of listens! The beat does go on .... :-)
@nessyvt hello Vanessa. so nice to hear from you. thanks for not only taking the time to listen, but for actually trying to "get it". i know in my hear that you "get" everything. your original songwriting spirit really amazes me some times. you come up with very sensitive and personal ideas that usually escape my own empty canvas beginnings. peace and love, chuck.
I like the "maybe", Chuck...you are a thoughtful writer,....insightful,....cause lots of times, it goes flat!!.....dribbles to nothingness, maybe because of the dramas...we are our own worse enemies, sometimes!.... there is someone who comes along to pick up the beat and reshape it and carry it onward...........
another great song....love the attic, --had I to guess, I'd say geodesic dome house? have a great week..we are halfway there!..almost, and maybe....;-)
@cinderellalifestyle Laurie. i'm pleased you saw the "maybe" element. older i get the less things i know for certain. this song, to me, is mostly just a comment on the intrarelationships that so many of us share on waking, dreaming, or even sub conscious levels. many years ago the first album (CD) i recorded was titled , "going to the movies for free". i felt like we all simply look around to see the dramas and the comedy and the srtife from which we learn. yes, it's a dome, chuck.
@dmio2 hi Dan. good to hear from you. i don';t know why, but even though i have been subscribed to you for a long time, You Tube never notifies me when you have a new posting. now that i realize you are still "out there" i'll try finding your stuff frequently. be well, chuck.
Bravo my friend....sometimes I lose myself just watching your hands move around the guitars....as I did this time with this gorgeous Taylor. Damn fine lyrics....kinda cool how you drew us in with the opening line. To ponder the thoughts and the meaning sometimes takes me awhile. I really enjoyed this share Chuck. Almost like getting some candy on Halloween...a real treat.
@patgmoran hi Patrick. i got a kick out of that halloween comment. it's always a pleasure to hear from you and i look forward to your own next original. peace and love, chuck.
Howdy Chuck. Sorry I didn't get a chance to talk to you at the meeting Monday night. Baseball season runs me late this time of year and I was kinda tied up with some of the Showcase stuff. Would have loved to bent your ear a little regarding this stuff. I did notice, however, it looks like your playing a new Taylor. Work must be going well....
@WillieBoDave hi dave. actually i've had the taylor a few years or so. it is an 816CE, grand symphony model. i had been trying to learn to fingerpick with metal picks for the past several months and don't usually play the taylor that way. it's a pretty loud guitar. i have a martin D15 that i use for metal fingerpicks and i now use martin silk and steel strings for that purpose, keeps the volume down a bit and makes the tone a little more mellow. i enjoyed the last singer last night, chcuk
The title drew me here immediately Chuck as you say this a lot. I read the lyrics first as I usually do with your posts. As excellent as usual, I like how the second stanza's first 3 lines echoes the 1st and 3rd chorus stanza's meanings.
@CurtisMateer hi Pete. thanks for noticing the relationship of the lyric structures you mentioned. i kinda' put a lot of thought into that this time. for about three weeks i've trying to only practice guitar while playing in the key of G. seems like no matter how many time you do such, you still stumble onto something new from time to time. thank you for such a considerate comment. peace and love, chuck.
Hello, Chuck, it's great to hear a new one from you. Love your playing here, just wonderful! Lord that's a fabulous line, "dreamers kiss questions to let answers in.' And that sums up many dreamers, here's to them all.
Poor Elvis, at least his legacy never died. Wish he could be around to see it all. Great song! :) Janet
@onewomanandsomesongs hi Janet. so nice to hear from you. this is a song that took a while to write. i had the opening verse in one sitting. then i waited maybe three or so weeks to know what else to include. thanks for the nice visit, friend, chuck.
@TUCKERZONE hi there Nidge. thanks for taking the time to listen. spring is in the air and we're hopping for lots of roof work this year. be well, chuck.
@guitarjosie hello Josie. you ae too kind, but you do make me happy to hear you say such. actually i believe you are a very kind person. i keep remembering your original song to your father when you were ten years old , "turn to you" or something like that. that honest, sensitive spirit within you is going to take you even further than your fine song writing talents. keep on keepin' on Josie. always so nice to hear from you, chuck.
It's all about the Poetry - the Word Play and the Story - AND the really complex dextrous guitar accompaniment. I really like your style, Chuck! (I like your Taylor guitar, too!)
@cadwalladee hi Scott. thanks for taking the time to listen. heads up readers, scott has a new original playing right now too, and it's only a mouse click away. be well friend, chuck.
@CharmedQuarkZ99 hi Richard. i sincerely appreciate your nice read on this because i have such a healthy respect for your own guitar stylings and tasty musical choices. the guitar is my Taylor 816CE which is a grand symphony model. i am playing it unplugged and not using a vocal mic nor amp, just my cannon video camera on a tripod. thanks very much for taking the time to listen and comment. peace and love, chuck.
@cuyahogajoe1 hi there Joe. thanks for stopping by. i've been reading the e mails about the next cleveland meeting at koffee cafe. sounds like there will be a real good turn out. i sure hope it continues. thanks for the nice visit, chuck.
Hello Chuck, I'm catching up to your latest songs and just wanna ask - do you do any gigs? I'm curious.
