I used to adore JOan Collins BUT I have to say EVERYTHING about her in this is FAKE. I think with Linda Evans it is more a case of what you see is what you get, whereas Joan is so two faced!

It would have nice to have seen John James, Michael Nader and Heather Locklear be a part of this. They gave a lot to Dynasty and all 3 starred in more episodes than any of the actors playing the Carrington children, minus Gordon Thomson as Adam.

I loved Dynasty and I agree Emma Samms was not very good as Fallon.

Though Karen Cellini was much worse as Amanda. Amanda went from spoiled English Princess to American valley girl.

Emma Samms was awful as Fallon. She was all wrong for her. She played her nice and as a victum - sorta a mini Linda Evans. Pamela Sue Martin was Fallon. I heard she left to do movies. But it didn't work out.

Pamela's departure was interesting. She had asked to be written out, the producers ersisted. But later agreed because Pamela said her health was suffering under the schedule and wanted "time off". Bascially she wanted out for good. The producers tried to get her to come backas they had discussed before she left, she kept putting it off. She later found out the role was recast and didn't hear from them again.

I had read somewhere that once Emma Samms was cast and shooting had begun that Pamela Sue Martin wanted to come back to the show. The producers contemplated writing her as a new character then dropped the idea. Had you heard of this?

Pamela gave a radio interview and it is online (for some reason I didn't save it) and gave details on her departure. She admitted after season 2 she felt it was time to go. She was tired of the schedule and had developed an ulcer and nerve condition during the show (or so she told the producers). According to her, she negoitated an early departure as a temporary sabatical with the "idea" of returning at a later date but she admitted she wanted out for good.

After her departure she was contacted about returning as the producers thought she would but her time off made her realize she didn't want to. After several attempts to negoitate with her she later found out Emma had been cast (again this is according to her). I had heard about Pam wanting to return but my gut says no. Given what I see here and heard in her interview she really had had enough and wanted a change.

My own feeling is if Pamela had said she wanted to come back i do think Emma would have been dropped. Emma is a great actress but Pamela left such a mark on the character it would have been hard for anyone to step in. Emma's reinterpertation of the character didn't help. The only actress I can think of to have stepped in to fill Pam's shoes: Sherry Stringfield during her Guiding Light days.

On Emma Samms Lifetime TV biography here on Youtube David Paulsen is interviewed and he tells a story where on Dynasty's last season there was banter about the possibility of bringing Pamela back. Which Emma found about after the show had been cancelled. I doubt Pam would have comeback at this point..I think she's put this part of her life way behind her.

To all comments, Emma Samms didnt want to be in the same with room Pamela Sue Martin since fans liked her better. As for Heather, yes..she didnt want to do it or John James. Stephanie Beacham was taking a vacation. A shame though but it was GREAT seeing pamela sue and Catherine Oxenberg together

Wrong: Emma was unavailable for the scheduled shooting at Filoli. Her segment was recorded in Canada. John James and Diahann Carroll refused because of the money paid, not enough. Beacham was NOT asked to be part of the show. Locklear, declined on the cash paid but was also in a custody fight during her ongoing divorce at the same time. I've spoken to a producer involved thats how I know.

Diahann Carroll has taken the position that if she isn't payed the same as Linda and Joan then she'll forgo any involvement in these projects. I love Diahann and her controbutions to Dynasty were huge. But her career got a HUGE boost from this show, giving something back to it wouldn't hurt her.

Who remembers Diahann Carroll??? You can hardly compare her status to John Forsythe, Joan Collins or Linda Evans. It was a shame that all the stars weren't involved. John James, Heather Locklear, Emma Samms... Great programme though. When is Season 2 being released on DVD? I am fed up with re-runs of Season 1 on my DVD player!
