  • The Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) is a mental health watchdog, responsible for helping to enact more than 150 laws protecting us from abusive or coercive practices.

CCHR has fought to restore human rights to mental health, including, full informed consent regarding the medical legitimacy of psychiatric diagnosis, risks of psychiatric treatments,

and the RIGHT TO REFUSE TREATMENT. I was a victim of psychiatry for many years, Im not part of this group but agree 1000%

  • omg this is proof sharing is important, I wish I can talk to her I am literally going through the same thing with my family. They don't understand it and haven't taking the time or effort to understand the illness, although my dad is trying a bit now

  • I know someone that is going through trying to get treatment willingly for his bi polar yet all they gave him was an antidepressant and he has Mania and not much if any depression. He is struggling with the med's and wants to get off. Do you know if he can cut the 20 mil in half or since he has been on the 10 for a month and only a couple of weeks on the 20 mil that he can just stop cold turkey. Please let me know if anyone knows abou this. The drug is Lexepro he is now more manic.

  • right at 1:16 she says no no no no..... so funny

  • What do Gay people, Obama, and "so called mentally disordered" have in commmon? They all need attention hmmmmmmmm............Figure that one out

  • Know what sucks doubly? Being gay and Bipolar. Yeah, I'm lonely.

  • lol my cousin is gay and bipolar.

he has worse problems than that though. if those are your only two it's not horrible you can be a GREAT person!

  • She gives the best explanations I have ever heard.

  • If it is a chemical in-balance, I assume they just give you a blood test to find out if you are bipolar. Is that right? It seems to me that if it is a questionaire, one can taylor make the answer to the question to attain our desire result.

  • Actually, there's no blood test you can take. I think the woman in the video was trying to come up with an analogy that people who don't know about bipolar can understand. Nobody knows what the real cause of it is, only theories. It's true, you probably could fake bipolar in a questionaire, but if they talked to a psychiatrist about their supposed symptoms and tried to get medicated, it would be obvious they were faking.

  • The reason there is no blood test is most of the neurotransmitters in the brain don't get out to systemic circulation due to the blood brain barrier. The psychiatric field is kind of stuck diagnostically with questionnaires and observing symptoms.

  • What a wonderful interview. I never could understand why I had such mood swings. It was to point that co-workers would ask me if I was in a good mood before they would approach me. I learned to hang around with cheerful people when the depression hit. They're good cheer could bring me out of the depression or irribility I felt. Thank God for medications.

  • when i finally crashed, all my friends cut me off, the only thing that kept me going was my kids

  • I got scared as well. I never thought I had it. I was diagnosed ADD and now I might not have ADD. As a matter of fact I have learned so much by these interviews and videos.I learned that my behavior is not really considered normal. This is not an illness to me. It is a disease!

  • Please go to Yahoo and type in "Horrible Truth About Psychiatric Drugs" to see a research report I wrote on these drugs revealing the truth about them. Also do the search "Documented Proof Psychiatric Drugs Shorten Lifespan"... Be sure to include the quotes in your search....

  • Spoken like somebody who knows nothing about bipolar disorder.

The drugs work. They save lives, and families. They are not perfect; nothing is -- but for people who need them, they are an enormous benefit.

    You are not helping.

  • yes she is helping-geat vid

  • great video actually

  • he ment it to SamuelAntoineMoser .... yeah the paranoid one ......

and that is one of the fucked up approach some family members and friends take .... ... unfortunately

  • I think if so many of these people that have these problems had supportive group of friends and family, it would actually put their minds at so much ease and the fact that her friends don't care enough about her, effects her condition more. I would say, stay away from drugs. I was taught in psychology that bipolar needs lithium, but I think that I brain and our biological system will eventually get used to it.

  • what an amazing job she did here! Thank U Debra

  • RE: aftermath71: she's not ill informed, it's an analogy you tool, she wasn't speaking literally, she was just trying to explain what it's like.

I'm bipolar, she explains it well. Lay off.

  • you have no clue of what'ur talkin' 'bout, do you ?

  • that was a response to doughlass, and also to theaftermath71, 5 stars for the video, it's not fun but it's like that and that's the way it is....

  • Pretty Hair!

  • I Know, Nice N' Full

  • Very helpful.

  • Thnx again "exception721". Debra...May God bless u.

  • thanks for the video; very good.

  • One can live very productive lives being Bipolar. I am an optometrist and my practice is doing well. I also developed a big Catholic website that irritates protestants and pretty much everyone (HA!), but is something I believe in very much. I paint. Do photography. Write. Bipolars can be very productive members of society. God bless you for being so brave in coming out!

  • looks like she Is abut to bite your head off or screw you like no other. Also she seems like breaking down Into tears most of the time. She sniffs like she Is on coke! You can see the sad In her eyes though. Very interesting girl.

  • Thanks for makin this videos.

Im only 16 yrs old and ive was dignosed <found out> wit bipolar disorder around january.

I do thank you bcuz this explained and showed what it is and that it can be halped without medications.

  • In my view bipolar is easily cured with the proper supplements not drugs. I believe that many don't really want to get better and use the bipolar diagnosis to get a disability check. It's much better to be cured and a productive member of society. My videos and books discuss what I believe to be a cure.

  • Drugs dont work but sometimes ihave used it to make my worries disapear but they destroy ur life drugs is the thing that brings all the hurt flooding back so i just hope im strongernuff to keep of em and be me

  • iv been in i call em nut wards not a good place when im 21 and last three summers was in there for months still kept my job but still a battle just to be me and happy

  • You deserve a lot of credit. I believe that most medical treatment is incorrect and posterior pituitary supplementation should be tried first. The diagnosis of the deficiency is exact and the dosage can be easily checked and there are no deleterious side effects because it is a supplement and not a drug.

  • Hi my names Michael writing to debra im 21 last few years have been hard but iv come frew the worst. Its so strange how i can be so hppy and in a instant sometimes i feel like something in my life is missing. You just explained it nearlly word for word how i see it.

  • All I can say is - type in 'The DaVinci Method' into your google browser and find out the truth!

Bipolar/ADD/ADHD/Asperger's are classified by the general public as an illness - in some ways it may seem to be, but it's really a Gift - you read that right, a Gift. Anyone with any of the Above mentioned so called 'diseases', rest assured - you are highly gifted - check out 'The DaVinci Method' if you dare.

  • You don't know how hard is to live with somebody with this illness, how I have to put my life back because of that. You always feel like you have to understand them, but nobody understand how we feel.

  • Go online and look for a support group. They're out there.

  • Thanks for this blog is very helpful information

  • She's got a real pretty mouth.

  • Black backgroud black clothes, looks like head is talking...^^

  • Stop with the lip injections! People are going to offer you fish food!

  • Sorry about that, I don't know why it scares me. Pills scare me too as Geodon seems to help but a skin rash/sun? may be a problem.

  • Thanks for the video. The hair thing and shiney lips freaks me out.

  • people can say whatever they want to whoever they want. it's their perogative!

  • Doctor, why don't you go around a month telling everyone you are mentally ill and see how people treat you. Aren't you listening to her??? why aren't you listening?y humiliate them.? When you label them then they beat themselves up with the mental illness baseball bat. you should be telling her not to expose the illness people don't understand.

  • Silence allows oppression to continue, remember a little thing called Domestic Violence that people didn't used to talk about?

  • I appreciated what you had to say - thanks

  • Being bipolar myself, I thought she explained the illness very well. Great vid! I appreciated it. :)

  • Thanks for talking about stress. I have depression and I am in an episode right now. Depression reduces my ability to cope and stress creates more depression.

  • Thank you so much for this video! I have someone in my life struggling with BP and this is certainly helpful.

  • depends on the meds. Best talk to a psychiatrist

  • Could anybody give me an indication of any side effects if any that can happen from medication.

  • I've tried Xanax, Lithium, Depakote, 5-HTP and Omega 3 Fatty Acids (Not all at once, of course). The nastiest was 5-HTP, a homeopathic drug to treat sudden manias. It treated the acute mania but also gave me a 24 hour migraine + serial vomiting. Never took it again! Second worse is Depakote. Causes severely painful Gastrointestinal spasms. Feels like someone takes your large intestine and wrings it like a towel ... continued.

  • Lithium isn't that bad, but it caused me to gain 30 pounds. Had to stop because it made my lips and fingertips numb and also GI spasms like the Depakote, to a lesser degree. Then went into remission. Maintained on Omega 3 FA's for Mood Control (EPA type FA) and occasional Xanax. Omega 3's have no SE's. Xanax can cause dissiness, depression, or sleepiness and feelings of not caring about anything ...

  • I have bipolar... I like this video..

  • don't tell everyone you are bipolar. it isn't a good idea

  • Why not speak about your illness? So we can continue to be stigmatized by ignorant people? People used to say the same thing and have the same ignorant fears about epilepsy, but that illness is now okay/acceptable because of awareness and facts. This illness isn't induced by behavior like emphysema which is perfectly okay..when was the last time somebody was fired for having emphysema? Obviously, you have to use good judgment when disclosing your illness.

  • Instead, let them think you're just an asshole.

  • I just want to point out. There is no way to prove you have a chemical imbalance in your brain. Other countries banned drug companies from saying this in there commercials. Why? Because there is no evidence to suggest this. The APA admitted this openly in 2006. Cure? APA again- No cure. US Government studies- NO cure. US government studies- NO evidence

  • Not true-- you can clearly see the difference between a normal brain scan and an abnormal one.

  • Grim Vixen- In no way do I dispute that these drugs change the physical shape of your brain or the way your brain works. They are toxic to the human brain and body.

  • Ha! Good one :)

The evidence is in the behavior.

  • Grim vixen- There are many variables that cause peoples behavior. Again no proof that something wrong in your brain is causing the original behavior. Or proof that the drugs themselves are not causing bizarre behavior, Or symptoms that mock certain behaviors.

  • What proof would you like? It seems that listening to actual patients who have benefitted from drug therapy is not enough. Brain scans showing abnormal activity prior to drug treatment, then relatively normal activity during treatment, is not enough. Yes, the brain is complicated. Yes, it often takes time to find the right med. To say all are worthless and dangerous to everybody is throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

  • Diabetes, changes in blood pressure, sexual dysfunction, hair loss, diarrhea, bizarre behavior. Hallucinations. drastic changes in sleeping pattern. Inability to hold down a job. All of these wonderful things can happen as a direct result of taking these drugs that treat bipolar. There are many more side effects.

  • Its no wonder the majority of people who start taking just an anti-deprresant never take the drugs again. When I say majority it is not a play on words, it is a documented fact.

  • Type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure are easily associated with posterior pituitary gland deficiency which I believe to be the cause of bipolar. This is outlined in Page's books.

  • People didn't gain 30 pounds before they took the drugs. They gained 30 pounds after they started taking them. Also you can read the FDA Black Box Warnings on these drugs concerning diabetes and effecting blood pressure.

  • dude, just because its not written on paper or "proven" does not mean that it is compleatly false. we dont know all the answers.

for fucks sakes humans "Knew" the world was flat for hundreds of years.

so saying that these drugs hav ABSOLOUTLY NO benifit is not helpful.

it is possiable that the test that could identify if the drugs work has no been made yet.

so stop being such a snobby ass and be fuckn constructive and offer some HELPFUL advice to help the people who have come here to get help.

  • I have bipolar disorder with psychotic features. I have it I am not it. I am not mentally ill, I have a mental illness, treatment works for me, I have been relatively well for three years(no psychosis). Life happens and I can put it in perspective now. this message is critical, thank you.

  • wow this video is really interesting. I am trying to learn more about BP disorder. I learned a lot by listening to her. You see that it's something for the most part out of control just like any other physical illness you can't control. She's a real person struggling, that's a hard thing.
